Hello, don't know if this is a known issue or intended. I noticed for the second time that F-4 Jester can visual ID targets at about 10 nm. As the current F-4 does not have the TISEO(?) camera I don't think he should be able to tell the type of plane at about 10 nm. Or could you spot an Il-76 at 10 nm distance? Thanks Jens

KRAP I keep burning out hot starting engine on cold start
gulredrel replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
Yeah, Don't hold the start switch for too long. I usually hold it for two potatoes and wait for going to idle when needle reaches 600 rpm. I think it's better to have some more rpm instead of less or minimum. -
Wow, different chute colors depending on livery?! Great. and this is cool:

First ever DCS: F-4E Phantom II Feedback Thread - May 22nd 2024
gulredrel replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
What a phantastic aircraft. Did my first longer flights this weekend. After having too hard touchdowns and Jester thought we would need to request a new landing gear, the third landing was smooth and Jester praised me Did some AIM-7 and AIM-9 shooting against some IL-76s. Radar screen is looking awesome. Bad against the ground clutter but really nice when looking up. -

I got mine about 15 years ago from an ebay auction. This was a lot cheaper than the ones offered on the store linked above. One of the electrical connection pins for the clock heating is missing, but I don't want my office to be that cold that I would need the clock heating function. I made the standing frame out of plywood myself.

Thanks, yeah, in today's attempt on the ground the flaps moved as intended with the buttons I've assigned. Currently no time to investigate and actually go flying, being busy with work and real life Hopefully weekend will be better.
-
Need to read this carefully. My first attempt the flap handle moved, but the flaps stayed down and did not retract. Hopefully there is some time tomorrow for the training lessons.

Many thanks for the work. Your guides are the no.1 source when returning to a module again.

And two pictures taken with the phone from my desktop clock. Ah, just noticed I didn't stop the clock, the second hand is in motion But I think you get it from the other one. Only less than half of it has the luminescent color.

Please have a look here: https://www.poljot24.de/uhrtypen/borduhren/ayc-1.html Following image can be found there: I also have a similar clock on my desk and could take a picture in darkness.

Thanks for adding these assets. Currently I used the carrier objects on airfields to bring them to life. The addition of the asset pack with proper land based items is very welcome. Many thanks to @Massun92 for creating and sharing this with us. Also great to hear about F-5 update. Curious to see, how the ground clutter will look like. The old brick like clutter always gave me some pain

fixed Fuel Gauge Test button without function?
gulredrel replied to gulredrel's topic in Bugs and Problems
Looks like this has been fixed in the meantime, at least it works in the F1EE. Haven't checked CE and BE yet. -
Yes, indeed, also realized this report is quite old when dealing with the other report on the altimeter baro setting to lowest value when hot starting. Hi @6S.Duke, sorry for pinging, but can you tell us something about the roadmap regarding fixing the old bugs? There are also a bunch of them in the discord bug channel. I guess you are busy with the cooperation with HB on the other sim's projects that may be also more profitable, but a little love here would be nice. Also features like working flight director are missing.

Altimeter doesn't work in some starting conditions
gulredrel replied to Jowen G. Bruère-Dawson's topic in Bugs and Problems
Altimeter is working for me everytime when correct pressure is set, so no bug in this regard. You could argue it's an initialization bug assuming that in hot start (ramp or runway) the pressure should be set to correct baro value before. -

Now I see. Took control over your track and was able to set field elevation. The initial setting for you is 994mbar and the altimeter is showing in fact -250ft: Turning the know the needle will start moving at 1008mbar You can set 1013 mbar and you will have ground level elevation at Andersen Conclusion: The baro drum can go lower in pressure setting as the altimeter needle is able to do. I have no idea if this is correct for this kind of instrument turning the elevation drum backwards, but I think this is okay. The are only a few places on earth were you would need to set a negative field elevation. -

Images are fixed for me currently. Something changed in dropbox handling images? -
Altimeter doesn't work in some starting conditions
gulredrel replied to Jowen G. Bruère-Dawson's topic in Bugs and Problems
I did not mean random failure but random baro setting of the altimeter on spawn. Will try ramp start at Guam. edit: Just did a quick test. Ramp start Guam Andersen AFB, default pressure 29.92 / 1013 mbar. Loaded the mission three times. Altimeter initialized with random baro setting. First time with around 1013 mbar and showing field elevation of 525 ft. second time initialized with 1010 mbar and showing lower than field elevation which is expected with same ambient pressure: Third time 1015.5mbar showing higher elevation which is also expected with this setting: So this looks totally okay as far as I understand the random init feature. I also had no problem turning the knob and baro drum changed as well as the altimeter needle and the elevation drum. -

Track would be helpful. Also there is a random instrument setting feature in the MB-339. Assumed during the last flight, the ambient pressure was totally different, the setting will be like this during spawn. You need to set it to the correct current value. Also I've posted this long time ago, I don't think this has been changed, so be aware when having a different sea level pressure than standard atmosphere (29.92" Hg / 1013 mbar): -
It's in development. They are posting some details on their discord every now and then. They were also actively looking for livery creators two weeks ago.

Syria map RAF Akrotiri RW 28 also works, when this is the active runway. Nellis in Nevada RW 21. Key is having enough wind in the right direction. ( > 3 or 4 m/s )
