  1. Far as I understand it, the INS is simply an alignment system the AC uses to coordinate the GPS with the AC nav system - so the satellites know your current location at ramp start thus knowing where you are during flight which gives the Nav mode your current location at all times. All you do in the pit is turn it on and wait for the alignment to complete before moving/taxiing the AC. In the F-16C block 50 models it takes about 7-8 minutes to align. You have the INS alignment implemented in the A10C as well - just sit and wait, don't move the AC, until INS is aligned and calibrated. Not much to do to implement the INS except to turn it on and wait. Good day, DrDetroit
  2. Just DL'd my copy, haven't flown yet but did take a peek at the pit and outside views - very nice! Can't wait to give it a go in a bit. Great timing with the release too Christmas weekend! Thanks and Merry Christmas, DrDetroit
  3. Hope it has a interactive cockpit. Would be disappointing if otherwise. Merry Christmas! DrDetroit
  4. Hey guys, I've scanned the inputs in the sim and could not find the below key bindings. Please enlighten me. So is it possible to set the alt to radar mode so I'm getting AGL instead of alt readings above MSL? Makes it a pain to figure out alt above ground level during low level maneuvers with the default MSL alt setting. Also, possible to set QNH? I believe this setting is alt above airport I'm departing from and arriving? The ATC give the proper QNH setting, but how to input? One more; F-15C pilots don't fly with NVG at night? Could not locate anything in this regard in the keybindings. I figure this is standard equipment for any night ops. Thanks in advance and good day! DrDetroit
  5. Check out Rachel Nevada and stop by the Lil-Aliee-inn. A cruise around Groom Lake with yield some interesting finds as well. There is a big spider near Rachel as well...Easter Egg I suppose. Good luck! DrDetroit
  6. Fantastic vid by Bunyap - as they all are. I've been to many of those locations many times over. I'm happy to see DCS really threw in some nice details with NTTR as it's nice to see many places that I've actually been too - from Rachel and Tonapah, Hoover dam, to the Bellagio etc. I think the Valley of Fire could use more red though...that place really sticks out from it's surroundings. Good day, DrDetroit
  7. You can take a tour of that crater IRL and most of that area. That crater so friggin huge you wouldn't believe it. I think the Apollo guys trained there as well. Good day, DrDetroit
  8. Wow..just wow. This has been answered over and over and over in about 15 threads right under this one. There will be 15-more threads with this same question by the end of the day. Oh and the "do I have to pay for Nevada?" also...geez peeps. Read the boards or do a search first. DrDetroit
  9. The mission is starting earlier than your flight. I had this issue on a few mission I made, took me forever to correct it. Make sure you takeoff time is the same as your mission start time (when the scenario starts) and the day is the same as well - all the start times and day (0-365) have to match. That was one of my problems, that my flight was day 330 and the scenario started around day 157...so I would have to wait months for the mission to start. Good luck, DrDetroit
  10. You have the 1.2.16 version. The next version is the 1.5.2 update to that install (brings 1.2 to 1.5 beta). Then you have 2.0 which is the Alpha release but you need to buy the NTTR map to use 2.0. So in a nutshell: 1.2 full release 1.5 Beta - Beta version upgrade to 1.2 ( I updated my 1.2 to 1.5 via Steam - so I have no 1.2 any longer - if you have separate install of 1.2 outside of Steam, then I think you can do a separate install of 1.5 - thus having these two version on you desktop at same time). 2.0 is Alpha release of the new DCS. Again, you need to purchase the NTTR map to fly it. Hope this makes sense. Good day, DrDetroit
  11. Yup, shutting off my Avast did the trick. That's odd, never had that happen before. Thanks for the tips guys, DrDetroit
  12. When I try to pick a SU-27 from USA via the drop down menu in the mission setup, it's not showing up in the menu...only American AC shows up, unless I'm doing something wrong. Good day, DrDetroit
  13. I can't get the standalone 1.5 to run either - could be issue with the update? My Steam version runs fine as well as 2.0 NTTR, so no idea. Good day. DrDetroit
  14. I believe you are supposed to shut down the battery (off) once the generator is functional. I think there is a nice checklist in the downloads section already. Bullet points, and emergency switchology as well. Only two pages that can go on a knee-board. Good day, DrDetroit
  15. Not really an Easter Egg. That place exists IRL, so do those signs...they look just like the real ones. The Lil-Alie-Inn is right off Highway-375 (aka Extraterrestrial Highway) -great burgers, especially after a 3-hour haul from the Vegas Strip. Good day, EDIT: Bcradio beat me to it. DrDetroit
  16. That's what she said. Sorry, just could not resist.
  17. Hi guys, I didn't notice this small issue posted yet. I noticed that AI traffic treats all divided highways as two lane roads. On a divided highway, you have southbound side, and a northbound side (assuming N-S highway). Each side of the divided highway is one-way traffic only. The AI traffic will be traveling north and south on the southbound lanes, and also traffic going north/south traffic in the northbound side. Not a huge issue, just strange to see when low. Good day, DrDetroit
  18. Wow, that's neat! Never seen that before. Now I have a reason to buy and use an iPad. Thanks for posing Tic-Tac. DrDetroit
  19. Noticed your artificial horizon ball in the center (HSI?) also looks like it has texture issue as well. I didn't notice that in my pit, will check shortly. Not sure what the issue is though. Could be a number of factors. Good day, DrDetroit
  20. Got it, thanks guys. Helpful as always! I'll see if I can't locate this setting for changing mission I already made via your suggestions. If not, just have to make a new Familiarization Flight. Good day, DrDetroit
  21. I've setup a nice little free flight where all my ACs are in the air or taking off all over the map. So if I jump in the Huey, the SU-27, F-15 flight or even the A-10 I could have taken is now AI controlled and flying during the mission. Gives nice amount of air traffic and other things going on and nice amount of ambient chatter from the AI flights. Anyhow, I have a f-15 and SU-27 flight coming out of Nellis, however when the SU takes off (in this case after the F-15 flight) the F-15s in the air immediately shoot down the SU-27s, because the SU is considered the Red Force. I've scoured the Mission Editor and can't locate the setting where I can set which country is on which side (BlueFor and OpFor). Can someone point me in the proper direction as to where this can be changed. Thanks, DrDetroit
  22. Me too actually. I think because I don't know the tower frequency, but it does show on my ATC list.
  23. How are you getting comms for Nellis? When I dial in the channel (132.55) I only get to choose from Groom Lake, Creech or McCarren...don't get Nellis to choose from the ATC list. This is in the A-10C - sorry for slight OT. Thanks, DrDetroit
  24. Now you can play these in the background to bring things to life. Been posted here before, figured it's appropriate once again. http://www.lazygranch.com/red_audio.htm PS: Interesting audio when ATC warns flight about not entering "The Container". Aka Area-51, Good day, DrDetroit
