  1. I can't get the fire suppressant to drop in the right spot either and no pointers at all, except the distance meter that pops up. Frustration heaven! It's so hard to get the Huey in the right spot to drop the fire retardant...no joy after a dozen attempts so far...and I have to do these drops 4 times I assume to complete the mission. I'll be at it for a year at this point...all good though, love the challenge! Good day, DrDetroit
  2. I've been working on this mission for the last 3-days, and can't even keep up with the guy yet. I feel your frustration! DrDetroit
  3. Complete Troop Transport Script (CTTS). It allows you to set troops for transport, so they get in and out of your chopper and your AIs chopper - also useful for setting spawn points for friendly and enemy AI, and setting dynamic pickup zone and drop zones. You could probably script a moderately dynamic campaign with this. Anyhow, it's a very awesome script, and I can now probably complete the Crazy Horse campaign, once I add the script to it...if that's possible w/out breaking it. I'm going to try! Currently you can't finish the first mission because the troop simply will not get in your chopper. Good day! DrDetroit
  4. I thought the training missions were very well done. It did get me clued into startup and basic procedures. Sometime the triggers don't function, but if you do as you're told by the instructor, shouldn't be a problem. From there, I started watching a lot of tutorials to fine tune weapon procedures, radios, navigation, ect. I would put these lessons to use with a few simple missions I created so I can work on running in (3/9) and deploying the armament. It's a challenge to learn the systems, more so to learn how to employ them properly with great effect. Good luck! DrDetroit
  5. Hi guys, I found this script and messed with the training mission...pretty cool!! I just don't understand how to get it into one of my missions. Do I set an advanced action to the infantry, like embark at a waypoint, then hit the pulldown to select "script", then select the CTTS as the script? If that is the case, is the script always active after that action or do I have to set another adv action to use the script so troops disembark? If that's not the way to activate the script in a self-made mission, please clarify. I've read through several of the pages in this thread and I don't see anything that explains how to install this script. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance! DrDetroit EDIT: I think I figured it out...If anybody else has issues, I used this: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3977343/Possibly_stupid_question.__Scr

  7. If you mean the door gunners are not engaging targets, you have to issue a command to engage; to do this, press LCntl+3 and LCntl+4 for each door gunner, they will start shooting...although not that well...but better than nothing. Good day! DrDetroit
  8. Yes, you are correct. I meant DCS needs to fix that implementation, not BST...my bad. Although, looks like the AI was able to pickup my troops...I guess that is better than nothing. Good day! DrDetroit
  9. I'm trying to figure that out myself. I'm not sure how to get troops in my Huey or the AI AC, let alone disembark. Thanks in advance! DrDetroit EDIT: I've setup a test and the troops will just not embark. So just read in a post that the troops will not indeed embark currently as BST has removed that feature due to it being buggy. This is what I have read regarding the first mission in Crazy Horse, which is unfortunate if true. I mean good grief, a Huey you can't pickup troops with??!! Love the sim, but when I read that I was stunned. I mean every pic you see of a Huey in the '60s, 70s and 80s, has troops in it, landing at a hot LZ. Hope they fix that asap. Oh well, on-ward and up-ward!
  10. You can change HUD intensity with a rocker switch under the HUD. To see it you have to kind of raise your head to see the rocker switch labeled INT I believe. There is a setting for HUD color also, although I can't remember where I found it. Check the manual. Good luck! DrDetroit
  11. I'm still trying to get past Hammerfall-3...that is a tough, but very cool mission. I've yet to be killed by the manpads, I keep hitting the mountains trying to pop in and out of the cloud base. Last night I was finally able to hit some targets w/out hitting the ground...or the ground coming up to hit me. Very cool mission and ambiance, makes flying it over and over fun. This is a great lesson on how to work the AC, sensors and weapons properly. Great job, can't wait to fly the rest. Good day, DrDetroit
  12. Great tips guys, this will help a lot. I just picked up the DLC and absolutely love it! A nice addition to my AC hanger in DCS. I've thousands of hours in all iterations of F4 since '98, LOMAC and FC, DCS A10C, etc, but I can't hover very well yet in the Huey, and my takeoffs are abysmal, but I can get it off the ground in a very ugly manner and cruise around. Man, nothing like I remember Janes Longbow from years back, which is my last time in the pilots seat in a rotary AC. Anyhow, thanks again for the tips. I'm going to strap on the Huey and take her for a ride for a while tonight and get some stick time. Good day, DrDetroit
  13. Which file is modified? I'm going to give it a try as well. Thanks! DrDetroit
  14. Cool...I'm going to give this another go in a few minutes and see if I can accomplish this. Sounds like solid advice Yurgon. My problem thus far has been keeping from hitting the deck trying to break through the clouds at steer 3 and/or4. I'm sure the SA9 will be the next hurdle. Even if I stay below the cloud base, those mountains make for very treacherous flying with the cloud base below the mountain tops, let alone having to acquire target, shoot, and boogie home. I got caught in a valley last time and all sides of the valley the mountains shot into the clouds and I just couldn't pull up and out fast enough...bam! I thought I had made it, as I was starting to climb out of the clouds into sunshine, but still ran into the mountain. Great mission, and should learn alot once I figure out the details. Good day for flyin'! DrDetroit
  15. It's the Enemy Within - I believe it's the 4th mission. You have a 3-slight ship, fly north-east and hit a base just south of the Russian border. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1286622/ Low cloud base, it raining, and the rain turns to snow at altitude. It's beautiful above the clouds, as it about 6am and the sun is just popping up and over the horizon. No JTAC so I can't get the target coords into the nav system or I'd just CCRP.
  16. Hey guys, I'm stuck yet again with a strike mission where there is a cloud base at about 10k, target is near the Russian border to the north...deep in those tall mountains to the north/north-east of my base at Kubuletti (SP?). -Thanks Baltic Dragon...it's one of your mission...superb BTW!- So I approach the IP above the cloud base at about 15k. If I go into those mountain ranges below the cloud base, I can't get out fast enough without hitting a mountain, and you can't see shit down there. So is my tactical assumption correct; I should get below the cloud base at my IP, as I'm carrying mk82AIR and M151 rocket pods (I'm thinking Mavs and LGBs are no good without being able to acquire a visual) and the target is located close to the cloud base, maybe 1000'-1500' under it? Also, the target is in a deep valley and the cloud base is below the mountain peaks. My first issue is I keep slamming into the mountain trying to roll into the valley to get low and fast. I assume I just need better SI as far the the area goes and need to figure out best ingress. My main question is what is the best loadout for this type of mission? Is my assumtion that Mavs and LGBs would be ineffective in those conditions? What loadouts should be used...is using dumb bombs, rockets and GAU the best option? Also, how the heck do you visually acquire a target like that? It's a small guerrilla base, with a SA9 right in the midst of it all, and if I can get below the cloud base safely, then what!? That SA9 is going to get me -no? Thanks in advance guys. This one seems a bit tricky. Good day, DrDetroit
  17. Thanks guys, this is what I was looking for. Will study this stuff after work today. Great posts everyone, should help sort out when and how to do a popup and P*Funk's description of the attack wheel/circle setup. Will prob have more questions once I get a chance to dig into these helpful posts. Good day! DrDetroit
  18. So, question regarding proper approach and technique for low altitude GUA-8 gun run...or pop up bomb run I suppose falls into this as well; what is the proper and acceptable USAF tactic and procedure (A-10 related)? I'm trying to get a handle on how a A-10 pilot is taught to enter, execute and exit this particular situation. Let me know if I have the procedure down with the following example, or what I got wrong/missed - this is what I gathered from the few A-10 cockpit footage of gun runs I could find: - I'm rolling in on the target at say 500ft, coming in on a sam or aaa target. - I have to keep the target off nose about 30-degrees while coming in low alt (to help keep any sensors from locking me). - When about 2.5 to 3-miles out from target, start quickly pulling up to about 1000'-1500', level off and turn into the target to line up gun pipper. (hard part for me) -two or three short burst with the gat and roll off target 90-degrees and hit the deck again. So if I miss the target on the first run, or need to make a 2nd/3rd pass, what is the procedure for rolling back in on a target you just nailed. Do I just gain some distance and 180 back in or more to it? I'm having a bit a trouble with this type of action...so I ask the experts here. Like I said earlier, not a lot of of this info that I could find in any practical form. Thanks in advance, DrDetroit
  19. Didn't realize you're the guy...so thanks much for the awesome pit...it's fantastic!!!! Great thanks! Good day! DrDetroit
  20. You are correct Jateu. There is loads of info about how the systems function but nothing on how they are to be employed. Anyhow, I guess the best option is to join a hi-fidelity online squadron and/or watch youtube vids on things like how to enter a proper dive to put that pipper on target quickly, then what to do after you've done that so you can survive to brag about it. Good luck! See you in the wild blue yonder! DrDetroit
  21. No no...not your campaign, sorry if it came off that way. I've flown that mission like 10-times already, and that only happened twice in a row. The other 8-times, one of the three SAM sites got me instead. Like I said, I chalked it up to over-stressing too fast, too hard with too much weight on the wings. BTW: One heck of a campaign, I' loving it. Thank you for creating it and uploading...appreciated! Good day, DrDetroit
  22. Not sure if the question directed to me, however, yes - Ricardo's pit is very nice indeed. I'm keeping it! Good day! DrDetroit
  23. Same here...had the same wing break off twice in a row flying the same mission in the campaign Enemy Within...checked TacView for both instances and no ground fire. This was during the 3rd or 4th Enemy Within scenario (three SAM sites to kill), never had it happen before and doesn't happen all the time with that mission either. Never had it happen with any other mission, jut chalked it up to over-stressing an ageing air-frame or something. Good day! DrDetroit
  24. The link to Ricardo's A10C pit has been truncated. Can you try reposting the full link...did a search and nothing came back. EDIT: Found it! Sorry guys. Thanks DrDetroit
  25. WOW! In that video post above, love the voice overs, it sounds very professional. Did you do all those from scratch? Great feel to the mission with all the chatter from the vid. Seems like a lot going on...looking forward to flying this one. DrDetroit
