  1. Good to know I'm not being nitpicky. Just a tweak or two to make it perfect. Would be a good idea to have the errant 4x4 cruising around at night, gives the chopper guys something to do and a little fun using the spotlight on the Huey to harass "observers". They will also send fast movers to harass peeps during the day, I've seen f-15s circling around many times - prob diverted ac already in the air somewhere nearby. Something a bit creepy when you know the guys in those military AC (infamous blacked out Blackhawks) and jeeps are looking at you! Want to know more about you...makes you want to leave. None-the-less, the best representation of the area I've seen in a sim. Thanks again ED! DrDetroit
  2. Yup, second Bourrinopathe 100%. S4 and Tonopah have to be added ASAP!! I'm sure ED will get there eventually...can't leave those out of the Groom Lake triangle, like a face without a nose. BTW: Henderson is important too though...that's a slight oversight. Good day, DrDetroit
  3. Yup, well worth the painful DL speeds. Looks fantastic, smooth as silk in downtown and everywhere else with settings maxed out. That is what it looks like from the air on my numerous trips to Nevada and Cali. The only thing I hadn't noticed yet is Valley of Fire, just east of downtown Vegas. Could be that I missed it with all the hoopla of Vegas and the Hoover dam. That area is bright red (hence the name) and very noticeable from the air irl. I may have missed it, looks like it should be there based on the map. Remember guys, this is a training map, based on the Red Flag exercises - not all out war theater. BTW: the one thing I can't figure out is how to make Russia a Blue force in the Mission Editor so I can fly without the F-15s shooting me down. Anyhow, thanks ED. Expectations met. Good day, DrDetroit
  4. Hi guys, what a fantastic map with NTTR, smooth as silk and photo real in many respects. Thanks for the fine work ED! One thing I noticed at Area-51/Groom Lake; there should be zero traffic on Groom Lake Road and the surrounding "roads" around the Groom Lake facility - except for the occasional white buses that cart civilian employees in (and they come via Janet flight from McCarren too). Civilians can only travel down GLR so far, then you run into a stop sign (in the middle of absolutely nowhere - which get's your attention right away) and infamous warning signs posted that states 'trespassers will be shot if enter beyond this point - property of the US Gov't ect'. No gates or guard booths, those are down further... just the stop sign and warning signs...oh and the conspicuous Jeep or Toyota on the hill top just north of the stop sign. The only through paved road in the entire area is Highway-375 (Extraterrestrial Highway) 15-20 miles away to the north. That is where the traffic is located and the only way to travel east/west towards Reno and S4. Everything else is two track trails and dusty dirt roads used by 4x4s and UFO hunters only - not hospitable to civilian traffic, which is the intent. That's the first thing I noticed when I took off from Groom Lake in the UH-1. Too many civilian cars far too close to the base (literally passing right next to Groom Lake highly secretive Hanger-18). That area is all off limits to civilians period. They are even trying to push the border out to Highway-375 via eminent domain. I know this because I've been to Vegas many dozens of times and driven all over the Groom Lake/Rachel Nevada area (the lil' Ali- inn too, which is on the map! - great burgers) in rented SUVs. Spooky area at night and always strange shit going on at Groom Lake. Actually, the last time I was there the guards chased me off at about 2am with what I assume was a helo - I couldn't tell because of the bright ass light that was shining on my car and in my face and my screaming wife. I turned around and floored it until I got to Rachel, and that thing was still following me with light in my face until I hit the highway! Anyhow, just a heads up in the event ED wants to alter this part of traffic flow and turn Groom Lake Road into the two lane dirt road of it's real like counterpart. Good day, DrDetroit
  5. Only if it's Hanger 18...the huge hanger at Area-51. Or maybe you can find the hidden hangers located in the side of the mountains just south of Groom Lake runway. Good luck! DrDetroit
  6. Yea, the DL speeds are absolutely horrendous. I'm bopping between 10kb and 1 meg every now and then. Wish it was released on Steam, wouldn't have this issue. Oh well...got a Christmas party tonight, so probably can't fly until tomorrow anyhow. Good luck guys, DrDetroit
  7. Great, thank you!
  8. So I'm going to pickup the FC3 module, as I got to have the Mig-29 and F-15C for NTTR as well the the SU-27 and 33. Anyhow, I already own the SU-27 standalone, so do I have to deactivate that module prior to installing FC3? Just want to make sure I don't pork the install with having the 27 module already in-game (I have both Steam and standalone - referring to both). Thanks and good day, DrDetroit
  9. Correction my friend; It's a sim, NOT a game. Candy crush is a game. Flying the A10C and others is a simulator (mid fidelity at best for most mods) - vast difference. Good day, DrDetroit
  10. Man that's a reaalllly nice rudder pedal. Damn, might have to ditch my Saitek Combat Pedals for that SLAW to compliment my TM Warthog setup. Thanks for posting. I like the Saitek CB rudder pedal but it has a bit too much sticktion and stiffness in the pedal movement, and don't like the auto center. None-the-less a very good pedal for the money - have had mine for about a year now without any issues with the setup. Good day! DrDetroit
  11. Yup, exactly. I was doing some vertical and horizontal Cobra manuvers, and basic FM while waiting for my wing and a 2nd flight of SU33s to take off so we could do formation and NOE work. Pressed once, very unstable...press again, still unstable but the heavy upward pitch clued me in that the ACS was on. Anyhow, seemed hard to tell by change in flight characteristics if the ACS was on or off unless I tired a Cobra or other high AoA maneuvers...otherwise I could not tell if it was on or not...surprisingly. The AC is very touchy either way. Thanks again guys, DrDetroit
  12. I know that when I upgraded to WIN10 about three months back I had to hit the update button again so Windows Update would install missing meta files, or something to that effect, that were missing in the initial install. Initially none of my games worked until I did another update immediately after the initial install. No issues at all once all files installed. I like Win10, good upgrade, slightly quicker loads, and slightly better interface than that of Win8.1 - imo. Good luck! DrDetroit
  13. Yes, was referring to the "s" key. Thanks guys!
  14. Hi Guys, How to tell if the ACS is on or off? Is there a light on the right/left console somewhere? I hit the ACS button while on the ground when taking off (by accident) and could not tell if it was on or not the rest of the flight. I could pull high super high AOA no matter how many times I hit my ACS button and just could not tell if it was on or off based on the flight characteristics Guess I should move that key to a two way toggle (TM Warthog - currently set to my autopilot engage button). Thanks and good day, DrDetroit
  15. Is that a YES to using brevity codes exclusively when in the air, or pilots use brevity just when necessary? He asked which one...yes is not an answer. I do believe that pilots do use brevity codes exclusivly when in the air talking to other AC, ground or ATC. When BSing with the co-pilot, then nay. Good day, DrDetroit
  16. Agree with you 100%. What I don't get about Arma3 is the huge map, and the entire campaign takes place in a 1km area...very disappointed about that. About 95% of the map is unused and some of the missions are really awkward. FPK was such a great sim/tac game with a fantastic campaign engine (semi dynamic from what I remember)...I still remember some of the vicious and long fire fights, hiding in a house behind enemy lines because the Reds push my squad back a few hundred km outside the town - had to wait until nightfall to escape. Just fantastic. Anyhow, don't really bother me about the fictitious names I guess....but why not use the real names of the countries they just mapped? Good day, DrDetroit
  17. Mine is set to ultra and still have the same reported issue with the trees. I initially thought I had labels on or something. Good day, DrDetroit
  18. Same here with the SU-27.
  19. The radar seem odd in the SU-27. Seems I can hardly pickup anything outside of 30nm or so, while my wing can see contacts much farther out and more quickly - more like 50nm or so. So I use his data link to find my targets alot, unless I'm within 10-15nm, then it's DF mode. I think your test confirm the 'strangeness' of the SU-27 radar. Good day, DrDetroit
  20. WOW! How in the hell does he do that lol. That's like insane good! Holy Shite! Good day, DrDetroit
  21. Did you try using the file integrity check utility on Steam? That may help. It will validate the files and dl and install the missing/corrupt files.
  22. If you get that close to a SU-27, you made an error and need to extend and get the heck outta there asap. The best vids for WVR fighting and basic energy management is done by Requiem for Rise of Flight (youtube). Quick and to the point with great explanations as he runs through the maneuvers individually. He breaks it down so one video showcases one maneuver. https://www.youtube.com/user/Requiem10NS Even though a highly detail WWI sim, the basics still apply and will help you. Good luck DrDetroit
  23. If overtaking the target, you have to do a hi yo-yo. Basic energy management. This will keep you in vertical and not horizontal, which is where you lose all your energy. You can do keep yo yo-ing and bouncing all day without ever over taking and without the dreaded turning fight and the A/C is easily acquired for a lag pursuit and kill. Will give separation from the Aim-9 too if needed. Good luck! DrDetroit
  24. If needed (landing too hot) I simply bump the brake button several times, in short quick bursts, and never fully engage it until I'm under 80kts. Haven't ahd any mishaps since doing it this way, and not coming in so fast. Good day, DrDetroit
  25. I'm not certain about multiplayer, haven't partaken in said activity in a long time with DCS, but my SP graphics cranked, with DoF turned off, looks photo real. The water is sooo much better too - again, photo realistic. A really nice step forward with the graphics in 1.5. So check your settings in the graphics tab - do yourself a favor and turn off DoF (Depth-of-Field). It just makes the image look blurry and smudged. Have fun and good luck! DrDetroit
