I have the MiG-19, I only make guides for the modules I own and I go through all the procedures to make sure they are accurate before I upload them. Like AeriaGloria said - it's difficult to help because it's unclear what is happening with your sim. You have the module on Steam, okay, but this shouldn't affect how it operates - in that respect it's exactly the same (or should be) as the DCS downloaded module and sim. Are you saying that you get as far as starting the engines but get no response when trying to move the throttles to the idle position? Edit: Reading through again, it looks like you are saying that no controls are working except your joystick axes? If that's the case the only thing I can suggest is checking the controls panel and making sure that the keyboard controls have not been wiped (I don't even know if they can be, but it's all I can think of right now). Are you using a standard Windows keyboard? Have you tried redownloading the module? Are the controls working if you load up a quick start mission which starts in the air? Another thought - please let us know which controllers you are using and whether you have assigned them to anything in the sim (and specifically the MiG-19 module). Is it just keyboard controls that don't work? Have you tried operating things in the VC with the mouse? tbh it would be better if you asked in another forum section, such as the bugs and problems section - I don't know enough about the module to be able to go into deep fault-finding issues with controls.

You're welcome - desperately needed it for myself, too, for the same reason. Kneeboard files are now also uploaded - anyone can view and download: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1B4L-LMj1_UvsAK0yalb571oSad2Oauq3 *as always - place the MiG-19P folder into C:\Users\*username*\Saved Games\DCS(.openbeta)\Kneeboard\

Just uploaded - as per the tutorial mission, minus the engine power tests. https://sites.google.com/view/virtual-pilot/dcs-world/mig-19p Will have the kneeboard version up tomorrow, barring any issues.
-
I'll be doing a pictorial start-up guide - and something for the kneeboard (there is already a text start-up checklist on the kneeboard which should help you out). Been very busy recently so I've been putting it off, but I'll get it done within a week.

I've been flying both on and offline. Last group I flew with were very friendly, nice bunch of blokes, same age as me, all living not far away, as well. Didn't make a difference. Mind you - been flight "simming" since some 35 years and started this one with Lock On. Done literally thousands of hours in the current flight sims, except the latest civvy one, which doesn't excite me anyway. I was considering a post similar to the OP's when I saw his. Each time I get keen to fly, when I jump into the cockpit it just seems like the same old same old. It takes a lot to actually keep going and then it will highly likely be enjoyable - but next time will be the same. If there was more going on, it would probably feel a lot better - flight sim worlds are so sterile (yes, for a reason, but still). The reason I haven't given up on it is because of the silly amount of money and effort I've put into it.

Felt like that since 2.5 was released with DCS and shortly after for all sims. Silly thing is, when I have a go at a flight sim I nearly always enjoy it (unless thwarted by bugs) - but yeah, I know exactly how you feel. I spend the majority of my PC time either reading, admin & configuring and editing or in VR games - and not so long ago I was asking myself if I should bin those games and just concentrate on flight sims! Meantime, I'm still splashing on flight sim add-ons and modules :helpsmilie: I decided not to worry about it and just take it as it comes.

Oh dear - just bought it and this does not make good reading :(
-
I read that you can change it on the fly, but I don't know for sure, it never seemed to work for me using the keyboard shortcuts, either. I used to use the Tray Tool ute.

That'll be the equivalent of 45fps with ASW in Rift - the Quest is 72Hz, so your 36fps is the 50% effect of ASW. Are you sure you are switching it off? Also - I found something similar with CV1 and 45fps in sims - weird but surely something to do with it. I can't remember what ATW does by way of framerates. Thanks for the encouraging info

communication with AI: speech recognition
Johnny Dioxin replied to twistking's topic in DCS Core Wish List
VAICOM also only works if Voice Attack recognises what you're saying - which it hasn't, ever, for me - despite loadsa fiddling, "inspection" by VA dev with advice etc - yet every other speech recognition I have used has been great, including for ATC. Just because such add-ons exist (and I bought them for VA for other games, too, and all of them are useless to me) doesn't make them the be all and end all for everyone ;) Exercise caution and always try before buying. -
No, he has full VR control. You obviously aren't aware of the function that was built into Virtual Desktop a month or two ago. It allows PC VR over 5GHz WiFi. I believe several VR YT channels did various reviews on it (Cas & Chary for example). Oculus asked for it to be removed as they have Virtual Desktop on their store, but didn't want to be seen as supporting this particular function - so the dev made it so that it could be "side loaded" instead. People have reported stutters and the like but it depends on how good your WiFi signal is and how much interference you suffer from in your VR space.

DCS Voice Feature Request PTT forced
Johnny Dioxin replied to =475FG= Dawger's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Absolutely - the reason two groups I formed to fly with got dumped - open mic's and background racket. Kills immersion and stuffs up comms. -
btw - I've just watched a YT vid by a guy flying one of the civvy sims - the most hardware demanding one - in his Quest using Virtual Desktop, which was, of course, the main way to play PCVR on Quest before Link was announced, along with other, less effective solutions. He seems to find it very acceptable and though he is obviously not using it more than casually, the results look well within the acceptable range. He plays it from the couch or on his bed (!) using a gamepad, because he said his job is at a PC 60 hours a week, so he flies to relax but doesn't want to be at his PC. Job done. This is very encouraging for possible use with DCS World. I suppose it will depend mainly on just how good a signal is available to stream quality video to the headset. I'll certainly be exploring all available options.

Got one first this year but the FoV was not good with my IPD, so it went back. I'm thinking I'll return the Index, see what the Link is like and if not up to snuff, just buy another Index. Chances are that it should be better than the first two.
-
I'm really in a quandry over this. I will be getting another Quest (sent the first one back due to connection issues, but have a new and excellent wifi router now) to use with Link, but I am hoping it will be far better with the official optical Link than it is now, even more so once they have increased the res, as mentioned. My Index has the dreaded "scan lines" issue and although I was able to negate most of it with the tool they released in summer, now we have colder weather it has degraded considerably, so that in some apps and games it's quite prominent. Despite assuring me that if the then new 'fix' didn't work on my headset, they would replace it (for a second time), they are now telling me I can either put up with it or have a full refund, as they have no plans to work on the issue any further and are not offering RMAs for it any more. So I will be relying on Quest and Link. I'm told it works well in Elite and it seems to be doing relatively well on DCS World, from the comments in this thread. So I hope it will be enough for me to enjoy and an improvement over CV1 - which is what I am going back to today, whilst I pack up my Index. At least I now have the required graphics card, just up to Oculus to make the Link what we all want it to be (except perhaps 'S' owners...)
-
I'm also pretty sure that if you have a Microsoft account - which is good for installing Win 10 (I can use any amount of them for free, just by entering my MS account details) - you can have the personal speech recognition data (i.e. your own profile from when you use voice recognition that the API uses to know what you, personally, are saying) uploaded for use in any systems you install in future.

Few years back I used to sit and watch the battle unfold from the ground, if I had to hit the silk. I'd get as close as I could to the enemy armour and watch it all unfold - was great fun. If there was a drivable vehicle handy, I'd jump in and carefully tour the battlefield. Was awesome watching the airstrikes come in, from a relatively safe hiding place, as well as the dogfights and air defences doing their thang. CA is overdue some work - but I doubt we'll see anything soon, with all that's going on.

Set view centring in the UI Layer section. Does the same as Num5, for VR.

[REPORTED]MIG 29S has huge bounce on landing
Johnny Dioxin replied to H-var's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Reluctant as I am to express a point of view - I recently flew one of the MiG-29 quick missions (an A/G one) having not flown it for years, and the landing went perfectly (having not looked at any manual or guide for this aircraft module for as long - so I landed it like I would any normal aircraft). So if there's a landing bug, it must be intermittent. The mission was flown since the last release patch. -
I'd also recommend Leo Bodnar's boards - I currently have 4 of them. The A is the cheapest, but the X is by far the easiest to install (though it's also larger)
-
Very witty - I've been flying sims since 1986, matey so take your snotty attitude elsewhere, please. Oh yes - and flown real RAF aircraft as well, many years ago. Like I said, afaic redout/blackout is sufficient. btw anything done sat at a monitor, under a roof, is about as realistic and authentic as daffy duck - so don't come on the "it's not real because it doesn't have what I think it should" crap. But like I said earlier - where you wanna stop? Fly caught in the cockpit and buzzing around your face? Itchy nuts? Feeling pukey? I mean, it's a simulator - so if you can't have that, well maybe you're on the wrong platform? Here endeth the lesson - goodbye. :smartass:
-
Then it will end up about as realistic as the rifle sway in Arma. This is something you can't accurately simulate because everyone is different. Different levels of fitness, different levels of tolerance etc etc imo the blackout/redout is sufficient. Such things will only drive people away and make the game overall less popular if there is no option. It's like the heavy breathing - if that wasn't an option - i.e. if we were forced to hear it, I would not be flying DCS World at all because I actually have respiratory problems and hearing that noise makes me start to feel uncomfortable.
-
Maybe we should have them simulate a fly in the cockpit, buzzing around your face, or itchy nuts?
-
Well this thread was fun and interesting - I usually stay well away from these forums these days, except for those threads concerning my efforts to help as per my sig links, but it was fun then, while it lasted. Unfortunately the inevitable happened and now it's time to vacate the premises for the same reasons. ...und tschüß

I think this is overall the best consumer headset on the market. I've not tried them all, of course. Not that it matters - I have an Index, I think it's the best solution = happy days!
