DCS Fw_190_D-9_Dora Screenshot Thread
BFBunny replied to Blade_meister's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Here's a couple. You'll notice vs the mustang I had not learnt how to use the distance on the sight yet. -
Awesome!

Pretty cool. Makes me more interested in the huey with a bit more interesting ground to fly over. I hope they add collision models to trees too. Kinda kills the vibe when you mess up a ground attack run in a plane only to go 'nooo, trees!' and to fly through them with no harm. So looking forward to the mighty spitfire too. Much 109 vs spitfire fun to be had. Call me shallow, but I'd love some better damage effects to make sense of the internal damage.

It would be cool to have it as an AI unit, but IDK. There are so many planes that have AI models, f16, c130, etc that i'd love to see as player flyable planes.

The current drm seems fine. It's transparent once you use your key and you don't have to login just to play the game offline.

Had a bit of a frustrating 15 min trying to make it do this again. Eventually managed to get it to pop after putting the temp to -40 and climbing straight off the runway down the dirt. It took a minute or so. I recall it popped the engine after doing a full power acceleration on grass in my earlier reply, but maybe I had been flying a while before. Seems like you can full power it even taking off on the grass, but it refuses to start if the outside temp is 50 degrees. I feel like I've blown it before a number of times when I only had the free tf51 version and could not fly it seemed to explode a lot more and this full power issue seemed to happen more often. Seems to go on forever if you keep the temp down. You can max power energy fight for ages as the heat you make going up is lost on the way down. Maybe I just assumed if you red lined the rpm and manifold pressure it would self destruct so I never really have. Although I started the 109 in the air, turned on the mw50, straight to max power, few seconds later it was a glider. That was new!

Here's another example of a slow high alt loop to show how the system saves you and then what happens if you smash the controls with it off and don't bother saving it. I have recovered a couple of these. I don't understand why the engines stop too. flyingsaucer.trk

cold start, roll to runway, rpm to max, slam throttle to max. Engine bang.

Can't use the A10A (all other FC3 planes OK)
BFBunny replied to BFBunny's topic in A-10A for DCS World
Thanks for taking the trouble Ironhand. Looks like it was an easy fix. Just ran the newest fc3 installer and the A10A works just fine. I was a bit worried I'd have to use another activation code which stopped me doing that in the first place. Not that interested in the A to be honest, but y'know. Gotta get them all ;) Maybe when I've finished with the fw190. -

Correct. The basic A10A that comes with FC3, not the full stand alone C version. -
Poll for Civil Modules you would buy for DCS World
BFBunny replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS Wishlist
I vote the c-130. Cannon is misleading. I don't want dcs to be just 70 year old ww2 planes. I only play for the military aircraft. Awacs support might be a fun role if the game supported it. I expect if they threw a concord in there id probably fly it. New map though. Looking at navada. Yes, yes. -
6dof cockpit for the mig 29 is more realistic.

The black widow is a little iffy from my tests. The spring is pretty stiff on the rudder. It's a fairly good starter stick and is certainly better than a twist grip. I had to fiddle with the axis curves a lot to get it to a point where I felt in control shooting especially in the prop planes. For a little over £10 more the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Joystick (PC/PS3) would be my value starter hortas stick. It's a bit smoother overall. The buttons are slightly better positioned on the throttle so breaking is easer to do with one hand. If you have a £200 to spend then a Saitek Pro Flight X-55 Rhino might be better for a long term investment as I would expect it to be smoother.

Rreally new to FC3 - 1st basic, basic question
BFBunny replied to bofhlusr's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Patience young grasshopper. We can only show you the path. You must walk it. We who have done this journey know it too well. Never give up. Never stop trying. The fog will clear. -

I tried repair with no luck. Perhaps I should run the FC3 installer again? -
I tried flying it both through the quick mission editor and through simply putting the A10A on an airfield and setting it to the yellow, player. Game loads as normal showing A10 in briefing then short blue flicker and straight to map. All the other FC3 planes are flyable and there is no problems with other plane modules. I expect a re-install or re-registering the FC3 module is required, but if anyone knows a quick fix let me know. I've only ever used it once when the game was previously installed on a different drive and just got interested to fiddle with the A to see if I'd fancy buying the C. Cheers.

This is good. Nice to have some good quality single player experiences. -
How do DCS sims compare to Microsoft's FSX?
BFBunny replied to bofhlusr's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
${1} When you Download DCS world. You get a civilian mustang without guns for free which has the level of detail you can expect from buying any of the additional planes and then the frogfoot is more in line with the DCS level of detail. You can only really decide by using the free planes buy downloading DCS world and then in that case if you don't like it you loose only a bit of time. Some of the fc3 planes are slowly getting their flight models tuned to be more accurate. I played with the free mustang and frogfoot for ages before buying any extra planes. The 190 turned me. I wanted to fly a more real 109. Each plane takes a lot of work to learn and master. From the prop plane aspect the mustang is the easiest one to learn. If you go down the prop plane route you have to contend with finding your enemy, dealing with the flight characteristics which you can do in the usual variety of weather and light conditions learning air combat manoeuvres to stop you getting shot down and learning how to lead a target using the specific planes sight while keeping the engine going. Starting the prop planes is usually quite simple, but being good with them is still a real challenge. You've got the jets which even in fc3 are a challenge to master with their jet acms and using the sometimes complicated on board systems. Then finally the helicopters with their own traits. You could easily buy one module out of the current lineup and have a really worthwhile and fun experience. There is no need to buy all of them and you could buy a jet, helicopter and prop plane. No path to be locked in to. Master or get bored of the ai? Then go online and see how good you really are. The only real problem is the map. It's good, but sometimes I wish I could fly over something a little more interesting. You could also try IL2 - cliffs of dover/ battle of starlingrad that is less sim and more for the fighting aspect or you could even join the war thunder crowd where you can spend half the year grinding to play jets. Anyway. FSX, DCS. Whatever. If you like them both, play them both. Not really a fan of flying the sardine carriers to be honest and war thunder turned out to be a lot of pretty, empty models. -
Ideally anything with a separate rudder or combined rudder and throttle (hortas). You'll probably have to tune the axis curves (under controls) to make the planes feel the way you want. More / less twitchy. I think you can fly the free tf51 mustang without a stick, although landing is a little trickier. I've not tried the 109 with k/b, but I'd imagine it being a handful. The jets are more keyboard friendly (especially the flaming cliffs ones) You could easily get by for now by spending as little as $40 I remember having a similar problem, but I can't remember what it was. Been having too much fun in the dora.

Pdfs are so much more convenient, but that's a pretty good job though. I wonder if ed has thought about making these. I'm sure a lot of people would buy a copy since the flight manuals I've read so far have been well written. Although if that were me after getting the one done I'd be struggling not to go raid the holiday fund to get them all done.

I know this is an old thread. But I've also found turning on the ground power gives the starter a little extra boost making it turn over far quicker doing it manually. I usually only prime the engine for 5 - 10 seconds and it seems to start first time every time. Without ground power it feels like it struggles a little more.
-
I don't know. Fly the 109 for a while and then come back to the 190. The 190 lands perfectly every time if you follow the manual. Be sure to read the 190 flight manual pdf and go to the lading section. If you hit the landing speed then the dora will land perfectly almost every time. Use the bank and turn indicator to help you work out how high the nose should be. I have to admit I usually crash each aircraft the first time when taking off. But it takes a lot of time flying it to be perfect every time and I still have the landing section of the pdf at hand to make sure I get to the right speed. You need to be super smooth controlling the descent. You do not want to drop the dora on the ground like a brick which is whats probably breaking your gear. Also use the full power takeoff method for the dora. Get it rolling with some power and then blast it down the runway. It might try and get away from you as you take it into the air and flying into high wind will have an effect. I remember when I was playing this game just using the frogfoot and the free mustang I got really good at the frogfoot and then the mustang. I must have crashed it 30 times and when I finally did I was so proud. Now I find it the easiest one and can usually get it on the ground without damage even after a few weeks away. These are hard planes to fly initially. It's one of the hardest games I've played in a while, but it's pretty rewarding when you can takeoff, take out of some mustangs, rtb, land, re-arm / repair and go for another run. Soon you'll be playing with the random failures to see if you can still rtb safe. As for being real. I think the real thing is probably a little easier in some ways because you have that 'feel'. I can drive a car just fine, but give me a driving sim and I'm crashing into everything because I can't feel what's going on. One last thing is to have a play around with your joystick curves (affects the sensitivity of the joystick input) so for instance you can make the initial twitchy aiming on target and taking off bits of the stick movement more numb, but still enable you to pull quick high g moves using the full motion of the stick. I went from struggling hard to hit moving planes in the dora to feeling like an ace.

Anyone know if there is or could be a torrent for this update (1.2.14.35734.604) I've downloaded plenty of things on my slow internet connection, but the dcs update... Keeps talking about server capacity. So annoying. :sleep:I'm getting a slow 30kb/s on the updater. It would do that in 1 - 2h, maybe 3 which is fine as you can let it run while doing other stuff. Or with the torrent I could set it to run on my nas as it could take all week if it had to.

Says it costs you x amount to use the service and you have to be a member to read more than two pages of the book. Might buy it though. Looks good.

[FIXED] flaregun toggle function
BFBunny replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
+1. Make it an option in the load out while on the ground or even add it in the ground crew menu. Don't really like the simple idea of having it hidden on/off. Not being a head tracker ir user I have a toggle on my stick for clickable mouse cockpit on/off. When you press the middle mouse button you can move the view around to see the fuel gauge and prop pitch then switch back to a more free view using the mouse.
