I think this thread/post made a clear argument to the issue (only the first few pages are useful, then it degenerates). https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=177149 I find this to be spot on with the new flight model: Yes and no. The mirage with its delta wing has an ability to gain first shot opportunity on almost any fighter if the pilot desires but it comes at a cost. The high bleed rates of the delta wing also leads to high drag at low altitudes and its lack of thrust makes it a dog once its bled down JD AKA_MattE
  2. I believe Zeus said it was a bug that has to be fixed on the ED side. JD AKA_MattE
  3. The simple solution to the Gazelle question is to not allow the recon version to carry ground troops, thus you would need 2 choppers to take a location. Allow the recon Gazelle to carry a stinger and nothing more. JD AKA_MattE
  4. The 104th and Open Conflict are great servers. Blue Flag is a lot of fun, I like the format as it is a campaign and I am a campaign pilot. That said the server/environment is only part of the equation with the 530, the other side is how the RDI works and some of its quirks like it’s issue with dropping contacts in PID/TWS (among others). I will lock a contact in PID/TWS get the information I need then unlock it so the contact does not drop off, then relock it in PID/TWS as I get close to the shot, then hard lock it manually before I fire (which is not really necessary as JoJo pointed out, it is just how I do it). If you fly in Blue Flag note that the first time you are on the server (or if the campaign phase resets) you have to type “Blue” or “Red” (no quotes) in the chat so that you are assigned to a side and you then can only fly that side for the rest of the phase. Also know that the Mirage is on both sides in Blue flag. JD AKA_MattE
  5. The Majority of my kills are with the 530, and I am an almost exclusive multiplayer pilot. That said I fly Blue Flag mostly and the 530 is up against R27-R and AIM-7 which gives it an advantage. I do lose lock in PIC/STT on a Regular basis but most of the time it is against a maneuvering target or one using the ground to mask, which appears to be the correct behavior and only occastionally do I lose lock in PIC/STT for no apparent reason. PID/TWS is another story, it drops contacts every time for no appaernt reason, but this is a known bug. JD AKA_MattE
  6. The Radar is in STT before the Missile leaves the rail right? You press the fire button the radar switches to STT (causing a small delay) and then the missile fires, at least that was my understanding of it. I lock the radar in STT and fire a quarter second later, same effect. So what I was wondering is if the radar is in PID/TWS and the contact is lost, does the radar track memory still allow you to fire against a target (the radar goes into PIC/STT) but then loses the contact soon after? That is what I was thinking with regards to the OP. JD AKA_MattE
  7. What Range are you firing at? If you can get within TIR range your chance of a hit goes up a lot and if the guy you are shooting at does notch you you are fairly close and can get withing Magic range quickly or take a second 530 shot as they turn back in. Do you know if you are shooting from PID (TWS)? The system will automatically switch to PIC (STT) from PID when you go to fire a 530, but because that was not modeled at first you use to have to hit the target designation a second time to put the system into PIC, it is a force of habit now for me and I do it every time, if you are shooting from PID I suggest trying to put the radar in PIC mode first then fire and see if your results are different. The reason I suggest this is that PID (TWS) has a known issue with dropping targets and there might be an problem there. JD AKA_MattE
  8. Never mind, I flew last night and it seems like the speeds are back to normal, weird.. JD AKA_MattE
  9. I use Key Bindings. I would say the vertical slewing of the Radar is half as fast as it was before and it is the horizontal (left, right) slewing of the TDC has gone back to how slow it was about three months ago or so. JD AKA_MattE
  10. Has anyone noticed the Vertical slewing of the Radar and TDC movement has Slowed in 1.5.6? The radar vertical slewing is almost a crawl for me now and the TDC is like it was a few months back (slow). Not sure if this was planned, I did not see anything like this in the change log. JD AKA_MattE
  11. I am finding it very laggy with low FPS and big lag spike lasting 15+ seconds. I have only flown BF since 1.5.6 so I can't compare it to other servers. JD AKA_MattE
  12. I should mention I was on the Blue Flag Server. Thanks JD AKA_MattE
  13. While flying online I am being disconnected from the server after jettisoning fuel and or ordinance in 1.5.6 It happens only when I use the "All Pylons" selection on the select jettison switch and then hit the Jettison button. I was able to reproduce it 3 times in a row. JD AKA_MattE
  14. I just have seen the same issue, I was wondering if I should bug it but you just convinced me to. Bugged in the F-5 forum. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3047332#post3047332 JD AKA_MattE
  15. Is it me or are the AI fighters not taking off anymore? JD AKA_MattE
  16. I have to say my Thread title is wrong, they are working as the manual states. I am just not sure if how fast the oil temps rises on warmer maps is accurate, I am sure this would have been a significant issue during summer months at low altitude. JD AKA_MattE
  17. Thanks Art-J seems you get the same radiator opening temps as I do and you are right they are inline with the manual. The oil Rad is in the left wing box, so it is directly effected by the automatic system. It seems that when the outside temperature is higher, the water rad temps can be maintained with the auto radiator cooler setting but the oil temps rise very quickly and cannot be managed well (If at all) with the auto radiator. JD AKA_MattE
  18. Ok I looked at it a bit more and I think I figured out why my observation was skewed. First off the temps I was quoting were the oil temps which are still effected by the rads, and do overheat faster than the water temp. I think part of my issue with the oil temps rising too fast has to do with the ambient map temperature that I was flying last night is probably higher than the map were I have been doing my performance heat testing, I need to look into that. That said after looking at it again it appears that the auto flaps do not start to open until 110 c water rad temp and are not fully open until 115 c on the water rad, this seems a little high for them to start working and it is adversely effecting the oil temps. Can someone take a look and see if they are getting the same with their auto rads? JD AKA_MattE
  19. It seems after yesterdays patch the Auto radiator setting is not working anymore. Both visually and in terms of overheat if left in off (auto) the engine overheats quickly in level flight at higher power settings. Please dont derail the post with saying to reduce the power setting seeing when on (full open) is selected at the same power setting (+12) the temp is well managed. This is easy to see, from the "on" radiator test position at higher boost (+12) and a hot engine (over 90) if the radiator is switch to off/auto the radiator outlet cowlings will shut where they should remain open. 21. Thanks Ciribob, much appreciated! JD AKA_MattE
  22. Because everything else works great. JD AKA_MattE
  23. Ciribob, This is a long shot I know but I figured I would ask. Is there any way you could make a version of Simple Radio that is backward/forward compatible where the older version of .NET was used? The reason I ask is since you moved to use .NET 4.6.2 I can no longer get simple radio to work. The problem stems from the fact that I have never been successful in installing service pack 1 on my windows 7 machine; it did not work when it came out and I have not been able to get it to work recently despite a considerable amount of troubleshooting and without service pack 1 you can’t install .NET 4.6.2. (this was a widespread problem with SP1). I know this is a lot to ask but I figure I would see what you said.. JD AKA_MattE
