P-51D were retrofitted in the field to bring up to the latest production block whenever possible, with the tail fin, elevators and so-on. This has been pretty much standard in the USA(A)F. Only example USAAF wartime aircraft example that I can find that doesn't fit this rule is P-47D, you couldn't change from birdcage to bubble canopy. But P-51B-5 could be retrofitted to B-15 standard, F-86F-1 retrofitted to all the way to F-40 standard, F-16A block 5 retrofitted to Block 15 MLU, F-35 block 1 retrofitted to block 3i.

SSD will speed up loading times and booting times by a lot, but once ingame it does nothing more compared to a HDD What you need for DCS to run 1080p Intel i5 CPU (DCS doesn't take advantage of i7's hyperthreading and AMD CPUs are trash in comparison) GTX 970 or R9 380X or better. Don't skimp out on power supply. Do some research, get a Tier 2 PSU at least, http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html, you don't want your $600 dollar rig to burn out because you bought a crappy Corsair CX series PSU or even worse. SSD is a quality of life improvement especially if you have your OS and DCS on it as out of game time will be non-existant. 16GB of RAM, DCS likes to hog RAM, especially NTTR, speed of ram actually doesn't affect performance that much according to benchmarks. Running 4K at 60fps reliably is not possible with anything but a 980Ti or Titan.

Even on Normandy map you wouldn't need 100% fuel. Escort range for the Mustang with no external tanks was 475miles, from Newmarket to Stuttgart, 20 or so minutes of combat and back. You would need a West Europe Map to stretch the Mustangs legs.

For the multiplayer maps ingame you can get away with like 30% fuel in the loadout. Greater the 68% btw starts filling the fuselage tank (which is bad for maneuvarbility.)

If you are close enough to fire in boresight mode, that pretty much means that the missile goes active just after launch.
