Low GPU and CPU usage but LOW FPS also...why?
Goldsmack replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Quick update, On my GPU Tweak program There Is the option to "Always 3D Clock" to force the GPU to run at %100 Core, Memory. For some reason setting "Prefer Maximum Performance" in the nvidia settings doesn't work for mr, And so far its giving me the best FPS since this whole thing started only drops to 54-52fps now but more testing is needed. After a few flight with the F-15 around Batumi all looks good so far, still don't get the solid 60FPS I was getting before but I'm back to "Playable" fps. -

UGGH! And I'm back to square one again  Massive FPS loses in 1.5.3, 1.5.4 and 2.0. Everything on low deleted all my Nvidia profiles. Tried running Max performance in profile didn't help. My GPU usage show %100 and so dose Memory clock but GPU clock stay at like 600mhz but It set to go as high at 1400mhz...dose that mean anything? -
For sure. That's one of the many benefits of PC you can tailor your budget. And very true about prices, especially if your patient. My jaw hit the floor when I saw what retailers in Canada where charging for GTX 1080s or even GTX 1070s $1000.00!!! ARE YOU #$%@ KIDDING ME!. Hopefuly cards like the 480 and Nvidias GTX 1060 are better because those are the cards budget gamers like myself will be looking at. I am perfectly happy spending less on year old parts for a decent price. But if you got the $ the sky's the limit!

I honestly don't know :smartass:. I don't believe I used 1.5.3 at all (I was cheating on DCS for a while got stuck on another game) but I did use 2.0 Nevada quiet a bit and noticed a very nice bump in FPS after the last update or so. But I defiantly noticed 1.5.4 Caucuses. I will have to try what you did and revert to 1.5.3. I think your right about the over all visuals...nothing major seems to have changed. -

YES!!! I works better!....sort of... defiantly playable now, but would like to see a fix. Setting Water to Low and Civ traffic to Off I now only drop 10fps down to 50 (locked myself at 60) On Caucuses map, at least for me that is an ok trade off for now. They both seem to drop FPS significantly but one more then the other I think its Civ Traffic -
Iv tried everything in every suggestion to alleviate this problem and none of it had made one bit of difference.....I don't have all the time in the world to spend on trying every little "trick" to get this sim working properly. Iv reinstalled, Repaired, rolled back drivers, tried every combination of gfx setting, settings that worked perfectly fine for the last 3 months don't, and even with everything on low the FPS plummet when looking towards towns. Why some have this issue and others do not I don't know but it sounds like its effecting more then a few people. This is disheartening, I would like to know if this issue has even been made aware and is at least being looked into...I can always just play Nevada but I still like to fly the Caucuses map.

There seems to be quiet a few of us having preformance issues with 1.5.4 & 1.5.3 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=169484 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=169738 As of yet I have not found any worth wile solution.

Thanks  I may give this a try later today. I have heard of deleting the options.lua before but never tried it (never really had a reason). As for the Alt-Tab thing I do that almost every time I runs DCS. Hopefully I can get it to a playable state.

Interesting thought but I'm sure Nevada beats the Caucasus (not stareways dlc) in poly count and texture resolution. I't seems counter intuitive that Nevada runs like a champ and the Caucuses took the hit. I wonder if in one of the last update some value was accidentally changed or a line of code deleted, as I'v stated before I have never had this low of FPS since trying to run DCS on a GTX 250!. As it stands now for me....1.5 is unplayable especially with TrackIR, so I hope its changed soon. I am one of those people who Is extremely happy with 60 fps at 1080p (well me res is actually 1680x1050 but that's beside the point) I know DCS is not the most well optimized engine but is that to much to ask?

LOL! When I first saw that video I genuinely thought it was real...then I saw the date April 1st  F/A-18C F-14A/B AV-8B Spitfire Carrier DLC Strait Of Hormuz Me-262

Unbelievable, the shear scale of death and human suffering during times of war is staggering and this video helps one appreciate the cost and sacrifice of those young men and women allied and axis. Most youth today give little or no thought of this except for the stylized versions in Call of duty or medal of honor and the worst thing to them is losing there internet connection (me 2 :music_whistling:). I cannot express how thankful I am to live In a free country Like Canada thanks to all who served. Thank you for posting this. It is a reminder to live life to its fullest and be thankful for every day you have. Men and women of the armed forces I salute you.

Same, after one on the last patches Nevada 2.0 runs beautifully, best Iv ever seen!. For some reason 1.5 runs like molasses when looking at towns.
-
After some more testing in the Caucuses map with my standard test mission here are my results. I can confirm the GPU usage drops significantly when looking at towns/building areas. Using ASUS GPU Tweak 2 for monitoring GPU .............Average ....... Looking At Towns VRAM %: 50% down to 10% GPU Usage %: 85% down to 45% Total Power %: 100% down to 60% Average FPS : 170 FPS down to 39 FPS (No Mirrors, F-15E) CPU and RAM average are the same even when looking at towns

True. I also noticed SkateZilla made a post so atleaste the moderators skim through here but no Idea if/how that info is passed on. As for the FPS issue, I have no Idea whats causing it. Maybe its an Nvidia thing? Anyone using AMD? or have rolled back there drivers? Iv tried a clean driver install up to 368.69 restoring all my Nvidia profiles, DCS repair. Adjusting some setting like shadows helps "A BIT" but If it was working great before???. Nevada seems to run fine maybe 5fps less in some spots but nothing like the caucuses map. It almost looks like building draw dissidence is different in NTTR from Caucuses? since one of the last updates maybe a different way of doing it which would make sense seeing as how the Nevada strip is congested with buildings, but my FPS have gone UP over Vegas since the last update and I noticed the building draw distance has been reduced. I have tried dropping pre load radius but nothing....I'm stumped:doh: I have never seen this problem before. If posting some kind of log would help I'd be more then happy to share.
-
To be honest I never used 1.5.3 allot and never did a benchmark because I almost exclusively ran 2.0 NTTR. but it seemed to run ok for me but allot of users have/are reporting problems with 1.5.3. I only noticed the problems after updating to 1.5.4 So all I can say for certain is 1.5.2 ran better. This appears to be a bug with DCS so we might just have to wait till another update/hot fix. I'm sure ED is now aware of the issue.
-
I have the EXACT same problem as well. It ran perfectly fine until I updated to 1.5.4. The town drop my FPS to 40 where they use to be 80s-90s. None of my settings have changed. I have a FPS test mission and I have def lost frames but only when looking at towns. I've tried damn near everything. I also checked other games and there all fine. Nevada map seems to run ok especially after the building draw distance was pulled back its only in the caucuses map I think. I can't be sure about Nevada more testing is required. Sorry just thought I'd chime in here I was going to make a new thread then I saw this one.

WHAT! OMG I never noticed that option. Has it always been there? after Falcon 4 BMS I wanted something similar. That is awesome

I don't know the exact designation for the weapon but that definitely looks like phosphorus. Nasty stuff.

Ahh the original Avro Aero a true statement of Canadian ingenuity...what that aircraft could have been. As for what Canada's next fighter will be? I don't know but I weep for our Armed Forces under a Libral government.
