  1. I guess I am not the only one with RAM issues. I recently did a full format of windows 10 after getting an 850 SSD and a new cpu water cooler and when I loaded up DCS Nevada in mission editor with just 1 plane to fly around my RAM went up to like 12G out of th 16G I have and before it used under 6G? There was definitely major spike in RAM usage from before. Glad I got the 16 gigs when I did but at this rate 16 wont be enough anymore :(. On side note 1.5 still runs like crap FPS wise.
  2. Awesome news! Unfortunately it is only a band aid solution for now but agree with the choice. Did not think the liberals would do something responsible.

Absolutely yes, while a Nimitz could do the same "thing" I think this would open up allot of new and exciting possibility's for missions and campaigns, and give helos some more support, and maybe 3rd party developers more reasons to develop rotatory aircraft.
  4. To bad relationships don't come with an eject handle :smilewink:
  5. lol another "are we there yet". It'll be done when it's done, I know I can't wait either but....tough s*** I guess . As for LNS, I doubt ED's timeline effects leathernecks F-14 and carrier as these are being built internally and as far as I know unlike the ground radar LNS is not waiting for anyone else to release a feature. On that subject I think LNS is building there own radar code from scratch which includes some sort of ground mapping? But I might be thinking of another module. Was that specifically stated by Chiz? Do you have a link?. It's hard keeping everything strait.
  6. Yes...low res and statical . Ahh those where the days.
  7. YAY! tangible information . Thanks for sharing.
  8. I know this is off topic but... I see both sides and to be honest Id rather not expect anything and be pleasantly surprised. It dose not affect me and theirs nothing but benefits to be had by just trying. The whole "They have one unfinished module" argument is a little..pretentious...Polychop have one aircraft, leatherneck, RAZBAM and Aviodev. They may not have made a smash entrance into DCS like Leathernecks Mig-21BIS but I am sure they are aware of the good and the bad. If there is one thing DCS could use more of is devs. This is an extremely passionate community and as such we have nothing but the highest expectations of developers to earn out hard earned $. We are a tough bunch to please :D. As for the Tornado (and basically any other wish list post)....yes...just...hell yes, any version!
  9. Yes lots of info out there on them there interwebs This is a good primer for desk pilots http://c-aviation.net/aircraft-lights-when-to-use/
  10. If I remember correctly Track IR 4s had an appallingly bad heat problem?. (I have only ever owned the 5) http://naturalpointofview.blogspot.ca/p/trackir-criticism.html. It would only be worth doing if you end up with no options left and you are going to bin it anyways. I was scared the first time I touched my Track IR 5, I thought that was bad enough but apparently if in a bad spot Track IR 4 temp can double from a 5. I thinking of putting a little fan blowing around the case just to help so I don't void warenty.
  11. If your going balls out with 4k screen...your gonna need a wee bit more juice then one 1070 :D for anything beyond 30fps. And if it helps the OP, with my spec in my sig I "borrowed" a 1070 founders edition, swapped my 970 and got to play with it for a couple days. For DCS....literally ZERO difference. I didn't have time to do like a super in depth benchmark but a few DX12 game where able to grab an extra 5fps..ish..I think...maybe  DOOM on Vulcan ran better as well. The biggest difference in DCS was when I OC'd my cpu from 3.5Ghz/3,9Ghz boost? to 4.4Ghz, the I5 4690k has continually surprised me, I thought going from an I7-2600 (no K) was a down grade...it blows that (and a few other) I7's away at almost everything...especially with single core performance. I7 has a leg up with hyperthreading tho. The only down side is...its called devils canyon for a reason, WATCH YOUR TEMPS CAREFULLY! I cannot stress that enough. I am still running stock clock speeds complete with worse then useless intel stock fan because I am saving for a certain AIO water cooler. I did grab 16g of RAM a while back, it was dirt cheep at the time, but I seriously never noticed much difference with DCS, session rarely went beyond 5-6Gigs. Now for the naughty hundred Firefox/google chrome tabs I have open at anyone time it was well worth it and its a bit of "future proofing" (I swear there is no such thing, its all a scam ). Just my 2 cents...and bad writing & grammar post. Hope it helps

    Flaps

I did the same thing when the m2000c first came out. I always bind the axis and maps gear and flaps....took me a good 15 mins :music_whistling:
  13. Wow...outstanding work!
  14. Lol that's what they said about the Sa-2
  15. excellent thanks for the response just wanted to check If mine had makings and guess what.....I held it under a very bright light and there is faint white letters, the only ones I can make out are...M55 A2 and a few other random numbers 9 2 M..something something, and its defiantly faded blue paint. Mystery solved :D. Thanks for all the info and help guys Im satisfied this is a 20mm Vulcan Target Practice round. Thanks again guys.
  16. That's what I wonder about, why mine is not...maybe just a different way of securing the projectile? That crimp looks like a good secure way to do it. Also 2 questions if you don't mind. 1. When you said "the band near the bottom of the bullet is engraved with : *LC-2-17*57*20MM*M55A2*" Is it on the extractor grove or the rim? and 2. Dose yours have the blue/red around the primer?
  17. Thanks for the reply so far guys. I have been looking around more and found a match for the red/blue stuff around the primer and it also identify it as a 20mm m55a2 . I don't have a good scale on hand but I can borrow one latter to check the weight. source: http://www.cartrology.com/browse-ammunition.php?mode=item&ID=13 http://images.delcampe.com/img_large/auction/000/190/401/285_002.jpg but as you said...the projectile looks like a perfect match but the neck of the cartridge is not crimped like most the other photos but matches a few. I called my friend and he for the life of him can't remember where he got it but it was about 8 years ago and says the condition is basically how it was, maybe it was in bad storage and the paint rubbed off, there a few nicks here and there and a decent gash on the metal tip that's not in the photo. I'll post on that forum Emu suggested and double check but after some more photos I fell pretty confident its a 20MM M55A2. On a side note I was able to talk him out of his M31 Inert Grenade Rifle to add to the collection :D. Next is a 8.8 cm High-explosive shell from a German Flak I have been trying to pry away from him for months. It's even got a little eagle and swastika marking. I'll post some pics if I do.
  18. Hey guys, I was wondering if some of you more knowledgeable people could help me in identifying a 20mm round I got from a friend. I don't know where it came from or what country manufactured it. There are no identifying marks except a blue and red ring around the primer and it has made narrowing it down difficult. It's hard to see in the picture but the actual projectile has a green tint to it, and I am not sure if its patina or color marking. The steel tip leads me to believe is AP. Anyways if anyone has info it would be very appreciated . I put a .50 bmg next to it for scale. The closet I could find: http://collectibleammunition.com/product.php?s=20mm-target-practice-tracer Edit: yeah I am beginning to think 20mm Vulcan training round, the green color must be form blue paint? But I wonder about the red/blue around the primer...sealant of some sort?
  19. I kinda had the same problem first time I set up my Track IR, every time I breathed in my head would move slightly and translate in game. There are tones of setting you need to play around with, depending on how far your track ir camera is, and whether your using IR hat clip or the pro (I always use the hat just more comfortable for me as I have crappy head phone but a decent 5.1 surround system) Going to do the IR ball modification because that's the only annoying thing is it loses track a bit easier. But once I got the sensitivity and track limits set....I could never go back
  20. I found using synchronize HOTAS controls on start up helped for me wit that problem.
  21. Welcome to the wonderful world of DCS and bravo for starting with helicopters, you are a braver man then I. Especially with the Mi-8  took me about a year to just get the thing off the ground without a "Controlled Flight Into Terrain", now flying it feel effortless. Shes one of a kind. As for you issue. Go to settings then control, select Mi-8MTV2 and select each row except the keyboard and hit clear category, then re bind your axis under Axis Assign. DCS default bindings can cause problems. Also make sure you have the latest and correct drivers for your X52, and you could also try switching USB ports? I haven't manually started the mi-8 in a while but I think the controls loosen after you apply hydraulics. Check out some of the startup videos on you tube and follow them closely and read the manual as well. Also just fyi theirs some extra options under Settings Special then go to the Mi-8 module and set them to your liking. And again welcome! one of the greatest things is having new pilots to help share this amazing sim.
  22. Yes..unfortunately...its a long standing "bug" Both work if I am not mistaken
  23. OH BURN!
  24. Lol, hard to tell. I think it was tracking what's left of the bomber. I was actually watching a video the other day about how ATC primary radar can track fragments of a broken up aircraft and how it helps in an NTSB investigation.
