  1. I did one tutorial takeoff, and got up without too much trouble. I did notice the wings dipping rather easily, but I lightened up on the aileron input and got it balanced enough to get in the air. My biggest problem was the elevator trim kept trying to put me into the ground. The "one notch down" looked to be too much.
  2. It's a good day for the Hog, for sure. Lotsa happy ground pounders, too.....
  3. Well, restarting the PC twice, and loading DCS 3 times seemed to have an effect. Controls are working now. Game doesn't appear to load any faster. Starting it from within the bin directory on the SSD. I noticed a lot of registry entries. Think they are affecting things? I hear my HHD slamming away.
  4. Installed a Samsung 850 PRO today. Looking on the forum, I saw several posts stating that a copy from the original drive location to the new location would be fine, alone with adjusting the Updater pointer. So I copied the whole DCS directory over to the new drive. 29GB. DCS starts, but my G-13 game pad, while listed in options, won't respond to input or Axis commands. Joystick is fine. When I go full screen, my Logitech joystick goes dead. Works fine windowed. Mouse won't input. ESC won't respond either.... have to Ctrl Alt Del to get out. All was well on the original installation. Any ideas? I'm thinking I should just reinstall the thing and activate everything.
  5. Updates? Quote: Originally Posted by Yo-Yo Possibly you are right and G-suit will be returned for the Mustang. Anything to report (let slip) on this? __________________
  6. Great.... I just put a 10yr 750 in my machine....
  7. Right hand turns Full power turn to the right... nose climbs above horizon, pitches up to the left and quickly stalls, even with full right rudder. Ideas?
  8. Anything to report (let slip) on this?
  9. Is this also based on the P-51? Whatever its base, how is it that you can tune the light model? I thought those were hard coded?
  10. Yeah. 5 of us were hit with the surprise. I don't think we've all become so altered in our flight skill set that we're in new territory. Pulling 4Gs+, sometimes near black-out. I'm never more than 40% fuel, usually at 30 to start. Likely near 25 or 20 when it happens as I fly a bit before engaging. None of these conditions are new or rare for me. I wouldn't question in too much except that other pilots are seeing it, and two of them are veterans with the bird. Anyway, just seeing if others are having this issue before I go further.
  11. Anyone experience an increase in the number of wings you break pulling out of dives? I and a few buddies feel like the ship is more fragile in this regard lately.
  12. Maybe some of the mission parameters could be reintroduced over the new map. Might be an idea, if there's time (**ducks flying tomatoes**), to compare some of the mizs to real world missions following D-Day. Too bad the P-47 won't be there.
  13. Yup. Been waiting for that one. My favorite.
  14. 40" Vizio 4K now. I can freaking see!
  15. As much as it is fun hitting 109s now, if what we are seeing here is a genuine error in the 109's performance, it has to be fixed. I piss and moan about what I want in the Mustang -I won't be any different for the 109, well, not much anyway...... :music_whistling:
  16. Re: slat animation, you could go into SP and F2 to external view and check it out, or run an small missions and back out, view the track in F2 and get a peek. I got 6 last might in my Stang, 3 were human 109s, 2 AI. This was a first for me. I didn't notice if they were bouncing about, but it did seem a bit easier to lose them in a dive, and it was easier to elude them in turns. I could pick my exit. Course, it helps that I figured out how to use WEP in evade mode without blowing the engine into little bits.
  17. I posted a few vids at my YouTubular page.... HH52 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_Kl47osOf0h7TTkbd95nbQ Here are some vids /links 8m18ICnTxc8 Good whistle from the 109, awesome bass from the 190. Turn up your speakers. I like videography, but I'm limited by my phone and using one eye to "spot" while framing with the other. Might have more vids later, and those pics from my daught's Canon.
  18. I dislike Large for the reason that it throws off my estimation of how far I need to fly to target. I'm better at it now, but it's no exact science. On the other hand.... without it, my sight, further set back by my monitor I believe, made it difficult to see anything meaningful before imposters came along. Other players would find me before I did them, so it's largely my problem. But the imposters helped me a bit there. I plan on a 40" 4K monitor, when the budget allows. Some say it will help, others say not - but my lil 24" has a matte finish that I believe makes things worse than they should.
  19. I visited Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection museum in Everett, WA recently, for the Luftwaffe flying day. Planes that went up were: FW109 A-5 BF109 E-3 Storck light observation Here is a link to some images over at Dogs of War forum. When I get my daughter's images off her Canon, there will be tons more. I have vids, but I'll need on of you gurus to tell me how to post them here at ED. http://webfortress.com/dogsofwar/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=585&sid=9d5cefabd409e6799cfb3b4a087daea6
  20. My next big purchase is the 4K display. My old eyes need help.
  21. LOL! Greedy buggers....
  22. Exactly the responses I expected. :music_whistling: Whatever. I know and understand all the points you guys made, and a few more. Doesn't negate mine. Yup... waiting, like everyone else. We'll see what shows up. I understand my personal bias, too.... so I have no problem calling out what I perceive to be bias on other quarters. This "new" Stang, we'll see what form it takes.........
  23. Really? Yes. Really. Unfair to be "kicking off?" No, not at all. Considering the age of the module, it should be the first to be completed. Pretty complete isn't good and done. I've followed the arguments back and forth on this from way back, and the excuses given are generally "it won't make much difference" blah blah blah. Better fuel? What for? You're dead anyway. Meanwhile, MW50 got a tune up. API? Per an e-mail I got, modeling the incendiary would be a little value - note, not NO value, little. I'm all about incrementalism. It leads to things. Get it? As far as I and many other pilots are concerned, these aren't "bonus" things. With all the bickering about adjusting performance tunes for the German birds, the bias against completing the outfitting of the Mustang stands out quite a bit. So yes, really. Geeez.
  24. Well, I just read two threads that show significant work is being done to create more options for both the Dora and the Kurfurst. They will be getting new rockets, and it's possible the K4 will get 20mm gun pods for the wings. Tell me now, that assigning historical ammo (M8 API, M20 APIT, present in quantity since before D-Day.... Normandy anyone????) to the Mustang is inherently difficult, or senseless? I doan know about you folks, but the lack of incendiary type ammo, especially the two later types, and better fuel and MP, while the Kraut planes continue to get regular love in the form of performance and now armament improvements, is of special concern to me. It really does speak of a preference on the part of some in the dev world. I have never heard a reasonable explanation for the lack of key historical items. Say I'm wrong, but the direction in which development efforts moves speaks all on its own. Before anything else is done with the Kraut birds, it would be nice for these little requests to be built-in.
