I respect the fact that you are real life pilot but What kind of aircraft you can spot from 10km ? Try to spot from the ground an airliner at cruise altitude approx 10km from the ground, it is barely visible even tho it has contrail and nav lights on. Now make this airliner 10-15 times smaller with no lights or cons.. good luck spoting this from anything more than 2-3 km if you don't know exactly where to look. I agree dcs kind a suck and rendering far distance objects but in mig vs sabre scenario where you have easily distinguished sabres by the black smoke it is not such a pain. As for the bandit coming, this is why you don't want to fly alone so you can padlock the bandit while the wingman covers you, as Seaquark mentioned. Yes, sometimes you will loose sight but if this was not happening in real life the word "loose sight loose the fight" would not exist. Oculus rift here btw. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

I highly doubt we will see ray trace in DCS any time soon especially in VR considering they barely could achieve 50-60 fps on hd monitor for highly optimised games. Since this was the main focus of the nvidia presentation, I doubt raw power will be that more compared to 1080ti. I bet on 10-15% on benchmark which for dcs will be even less. And I will get the rtx later and sell the 1080 if worth it. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Thanks all for the replies. Decided to go for a complete new system HP Omen 880-162ng. It should arrive by the end of September. Can't wait :)

I don't find spoting always that difficult. Certainly there are situations especially against the ground when even if you look at the fighter you can't see it, it blends so well withbthe ground due to the poor lighting and textures and res compared to irl but most of the time I can spot just fine. Distinguish is different story tho.. trying to track the correct pixel if there is more than one is real pain. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Some day may be we will have some good hand/finger tracking with something small enough to not have to grab it. Now for me mouse and some physical switches button boxes which I can find by muscle memory, peaking and touching is faster and more convenient then going for the touches back and fort. It is really annoying to have to sit on my gaming pc, put the rift, start dcs, start the campaign just to study 20 minutes briefing. Instead I can study the briefings while still in the office on my laptop or phone while travel then go home and fly without wasting time to study briefings. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

I am also curious to see how one will handle A10 hotas with vritual joystick ;) Or even better, slingload or hover with Huey/mi-8 ;)

I wonder do they run it for at least a quick test before they push it, how can you mess up so bad...

Same here. OR

Yes! Worked for me after mapping something else for re-center. It is fixed. Thanks :) Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Thanks for the replies guys. The thing is, Is 4790 will be a bottleneck with 2080ti or it can work fine for some time more or 1080ti with 8700 will will work better. As later on due to the new vr interface I will likely move to 2080ti and this 1080 will be a waste. At the same time if 4790 work fine and I can utilize 2080, then I can keep my current system for now. I am not sure that even benchmarks will show anything as hansangb says, they will test with latest CPUs. It will be good if someone that has not overclocked 4790 with 1080ti and share if he can fully utilize the 1080 or the cpu bottlenecks. I know you can't know what is better for sure but having some more people opinions and experience will definitely help me decide. Thanks.

Yes, thanks. I will test today to wipe out some stuff from there and see what happens. Should be something on my side if it works for you.

This is weird, my open beta is relatively fresh installation, since 2.5 release. Will give it a few more shots, map/unmap to see if it can make any difference.

50% compared to 1080ti ? I know it is smart to wait now, but the 970 is OC to max it can handle without burning and it is still struggling with everything low/off so I need more frames desperately :)

I also use oculus, and num5 re-centers the screen even tho it is not mapped in the UI cintrols. Checked also in the default.lua in config/input/keyboard folder and there is nothing for re-center view line. I don't think this was ever corrected. Both open beta and "stable"

Hi Guys, I need an advise from the community. I have some budget for the PC and I am considering 2 options: Replace GTX970 with RTX2080TI for my current system based on I7 4790 (not K), 16gigs of 1600mghz ram. or buy a complete new system with 8700K 32 gigs ram but with 1080TI. Which will be the better in your opinion ? I know we have no idea how rtx will be on the performance but still.. Thanks. EDIT: I have Oculus rift and the plan is to buy the next gen as soon as available.

I know very well that I can assign it to anything we want, but this does not unmap the num5. I need to unmap num5 from recenter view to use it for the UFC numbers, but it is not possible even if removed from the controls setup it still re-centers the screen. It was already discussed in the thread.

Up. Come on ED, respond to this, we need NUM5 for the Hornet more then ever now....

It seems that this will be outdated before released with the new vr interface, rtx 2080 and starvr. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Would be so good if we could swap the F-15 with Hornet
