To add to the confusion, all FC3 aircraft instruments shows the DCS true north or the grid north, while the full fidelity modules are correctly showing DCS Magnetic north. So from my understanding, the proper way of judging what runway heading one should use in dcs, is to measure the heading in the F-10 map and substract/add the DCS magnetic declination for magnetic heading in dcs. Now, what happens when AI awacs, ATC etc.. call for bearing I don't know. I guess based on real aviation it should be magnetic, so If you fly F-15 and awacs call for bandits one will have to calculate the dcs true north on the fly for the fc3 f-15 instruments. The whole story is very very confusing even for people which generally understand the concept.

So ? It still has limit. 700 ai units is quite a lot. Dcs ai is cpu intensive and it doesn't take advantage of all cores. Gpu doesn't matter much here, it is not about rendering but calculations of ai action. I am not saying 100% this is the case but worth checking. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

I think your cpu is bottleneck in the case of so many units this is why the gpu doesn't make such significant difference. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Agree. Despite that I fly mostly MP with VR and actually many people in MP are VR now may be not majority but 30-40% definitely. Don't know the airquakes tho not interested in them. I think if you follow irl a2a tacticss and doctrines and you always fly with a wingman as it is done irl, the vr disadvantage might turn to an advantage due to the increased SA and improved visibility from mutual support. This statement is very exaggerated. I can spot a boogey more or less the same distance as on a monitor, only IFFing is more tricky on the old birds due to the res and the insane amount of zoom you have with tir, but still doable with some good SA when you know where to expect an enemy and where friendly. If you don't want to use vr then don't but I don't understand why are you following vr threads trying to convince people how bad it is when 99% of the ones who tried it loves it. I had I7 4790 with gtx 970 and it barely can take it. Everything to low/off PD 1.3 and dense areas still drops below 45fps. Also some more demanding modules like mig-21 or Hornet will constantly drop below 45. You will be very dependable on the mission complexity and be able to fly mostly simple missions with less units and triggers. When there are a few smoking/burning units on the ground fps starts to drop, with ka-50 when you shoot vikhrs, the smoke they produce makes the frames drops significantly which gives you noesea and frustration for 5-6 seconds with every vikhr shot. Overall it will be somewhat playable but it becomes very annoying experience. I got pissed off and a few weeks ago spent 2000 euros for a complete new system with 8700k and 1080ti and voala, completely different world. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Try with kneeboard builder app to reposition the kneeboard. Not that you can do much but you can move it around Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Why people keep saying this ? yes he will have the map and the pencil, but he must be able to judge his position manually as the paper maps before GPS came didn't have this feature to automatically mark your position :)
-
And how it doesn't matter in ww2 ? If you need to locate a certain city on the map, you have to study the map locate some key visual references, calculate time to measure distance flown etc... having the option to automatically mark yourself on the map, removes this somewhat complex navigation part from the experience. If you want to force people on your server to must navigate with ERA appropriate methods and there is no way to remove this option, it absolutely does matter for ww2 birds. I do mostly fly saber in korea server and the same is valid there. Anyway it is a pointless discussion, yes, the option is there. I never checked if you can remove it, or remove the default kneeboard map in the server option or ME, I really hope you can.
-
So then they don't need this option, they have gps, ins or whatever else :)
-
Won't argue, it is subjective whether it is cheat or not. It would be good if it is an ME option, so you are able to keep the navigation realistic on your server and people are forced to use their instruments and radio compass instead mashing the mark button.

A.I. damage model - Mig15 Bullet Sponge Edition
metzger replied to Wazoo's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
There were many promises from ED for fixing AI, DM, ATC with 2.5 release but... nothing from this was fixed, same old issues, new modules and new bugs. But! MiG-15s were hard to kill from the .50s installed on the saber, you can investigate yourself, there are multiple Sabre pilots stating that MiGs were able to take lots of hits before they show signs of damage while on the other hand, MiG-15 has the cannon where 2-3 hits may send the saber to hell. Not that DCS damage model is not crap, it's just that even if it is perfect, MiG should still be hard to shot down. -
It's cheat because if pilot doesn't know where he is because of his poor airmanship or any reason, the map will not automatically mark his position by a press of a button :)

The following thread imho is the most important factor affecting the visibility currently, especially short to mid distances, where the objects just bend with the environment way too much due to the lack of proper lighting, reflections, colors contrast etc.. Resolution would help for identifying, but until there is no proper lightning and contrast, it will be pain to spot anything anywhere. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=221166
-
+1 This is the major factor affecting short to mid range spotting and I was expecting to be fixed in 2.5 with differed shading but apparently it is not :(. Now all objects even under strong sun, looks like they are under shade.

I observe this issue for a while. I use ctrl+numpad to turn off/on asw to reset. It seems more like oculus related issue rather than dcs Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Imho trying anything more than 2v2 with the AI as a wingman is rather annoying and inappropriate. You can't really employ any decent tactics with him or have any proper communication or idea what he is going to do or who he is engaging. Even 2v2 is too much for him. You can still win such battles but it is not really useful for properly learning a2a tactics. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Yes but 8k fov is higher so more pixels are required for the same image quality. Likely 2.0 is way too much tho. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk

Why shutdown within 2 minutes?
metzger replied to FriedrichNix's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
I have finished the campaign with vr and shutting down for 2 mins is not a problem at all. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk -
DK2 is as easy to setup as CV1 it uses the same software. I used dk2 for a few months before cv1 was released. I would say dk2 is better than no vr at all. Tracking is not as good as the cv1 but it is good enough, still better than trackir. Resolution and screen door effect are slightly worst, but the difference isn't that much, some birds you will be able to read gauges without lean others not. Generally old birds will be ok, but forget about displays or f-5 a-10 engine gauges without lean forward or zoom. Distance objecys is all bad no matter cv1 or dk2. It is also a bit less comfortable and doesn't have headphones but I don't use cv1 headphones as well because are crap. Performance with dk2 is better tho If you can get it really good price, like 80-100 euro go for it, you will see what vr is enjoy it for few months, like flying helos is really fun and you don't care about the visibility so much. I am not sure if it still works with Oculus software tho. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
