  1. Same problem here, Win 7 64 bit too: === Log opened UTC 2015-10-01 19:32:01 INFO : DCS_Updater/2.5.2.1 (Windows NT 6.1.7600; Win64; es-ES) INFO : cmdline: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe" --apply update C:\Users\Juanma\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openbeta\update_info.json 1.5.0.45166.36 STATUS: Initializing...   2. Anyone who played Novalogic's Comanche: Maximum Overkill back in the early 90s!
  3. Since LN stated they are including fitting theatres with their modules, i really hope it's a Viggen. Not only it's a unique and interesting aircraft, having a chunk of Scandinavia to fly in would be a blast! Lots of interesting Cold War mission possibilities and breathtakingly beautiful terrain.
  4. Reporting in.
  5. I'd love a Mirage guide, i've got all your other guides printed and they've been a great help.
  6. Well for me, proficient means being able to fly the single player missions/campaigns without having the manual/chuck's guide opened in my lap. I certainly wouldn't be able to pass any kind of serious test.
  7. I'm going to need a bigger SSD...
  8. Su-27, Su-25T, Mig-21 & A-10C. I own almost everything except for the BF109 & Mi-8, but i don't use them often enough to be proficient.
  9. When they release 1.5 i'll just start a random mission and stare at the pretty graphics. With Nevada though, I want to fly a Mig-21 north over the Colorado River as fast and low as I can, fly under the bridge south of Hoover Dam and pull a Split S just before crashing into the dam. Maybe i'll drop a nuke at it just for the hell of it. We aren't getting reworked nuke effects with 1.5/2.0, are we?
  10. I hope you're right. I don't care what plane they release, if it comes with a chunk of Norway, i'll buy it. For me, just flying through all those fjords and valleys would be worth it.
  11. But shouldn't you wait at least until 1.5 is released? I'm the first one who'll grasp the slightest excuse to purchase new hardware, but the rig in your signature is a beast. You shouldn't have any problems whatsoever with Edge, the current engine is not even using that 980 of yours, so you should see a substantial performance increase in 1.5. Unless you're planning to buy a 4k display too?
  12. People do unrealistic stuff because it works. The leading cause of death in DCS online is eating a slammer you didn't notice until it went pitbull, so many guys tend to fly low and stay in the mountains to deny F-15 drivers their advantage in BVR, especially those who fly russian jets. They aren't constrained by realistic tasking, no airspace or HVTs to defend, no strikers to escort, it's just team deathmatch in many servers. I don't think realistic behavior has worked very well in real life for any airforce facing the Eagle in combat, so you're better off trying something different.
  13. DCS: B-29 Superfortess :music_whistling:
  14. Hype intensifies, specially with the 2 previously unannounced theatres and AI units to match. The lack of matching content is what's holding me back from buying any WW2 aircraft. However this means no release until DCSW 2.0, as there will be no theatre support in 1.5.
  15. I'm not going to buy another prop until we get appropriate content for it (WW2 theatres, ground units, AI aircraft, flak...), but i'd jump at a Viggen. Any "modern" jet by Leatherneck would be a day one purchase for me.
  16. With all the hints given during Wags' streams, i'd be appalled if he turned out to be trolling us. I mean, come on, showing us the modules menu with a Belsimtek F-5E in there? The options menu with special F-5E settings? Looking at the parked F-5 in the airfield and saying "oh, what's that doing there?" Way too elaborate a hoax IMHO.
  17. This thread has been very useful to me, thanks for all the good work!
  18. The Iraqui custom of turning tail and running as soon as an AWG-9 was in the air speaks volumes about the Tomcat-Phoenix combination. They had met it before, and clearly they didn't like it very much. And one musn't forget the iranians had 54A's, not C's.
  19. The Typhoon is an exception that confirms the rule. The RAF is cooperating with VEAO, VEAO makes the military simulation for them, and the RAF sets the guidelines to what are they allowed to portray in the public version. It seems the Russian military is not that cooperative. I'd still love to see some of those classified jets in FC3 style... There may be enough info for that level of simulation.
  20. Highly classified, not enough publicly available info to make a DCS level module of it. That's what I read in this forum anyway.
  21. Me neither, but I think I read in some other thread that the Russian Military/Government didn't give permision for this.
  22. This works, I just did a fast run with a clean aircraft at 13.000 meters, set SAU to recovery, full AB (without emergency AB), nosecone set manually to 35%. The Mig will reach 2200 Km/h TAS and then keep accelerating very slowly until flameout at over 2250 Km/h, after several minutes. You can easily avoid flameout with small throttle adjustments. Thanks for the tip!
  23. Same here, and now that i have them, i love them. They are also great for helos.
  24. I used to have the 1997 Fighters Anthology compilation in my Pentium 150 Mhz. The cheesy videos were a great touch, but what I really miss right now is the sheer amount of content that game had. A ton of campaigns and missions in theatres like the Persian Gulf, Baltic Sea, English Channel, Kuril Islands, Falklands, Cuba, Vietnam, Greece, Israel, Crimea... The amount of flyable aircraft and weapons selection were also staggering, and it had a great mission editor. Not a realistic sim, but boy it was fun, I played it for many years, even got into editing the database, adding new aircraft and weapons and tweaking existing ones. Hopefuly DCS will someday be able to offer something approaching the variety the Jane's series had. Of course with the DCS level modules and scenarios being as complex and painstakingly detailed as they are, I think I'll probably die of old age before we get 100+ modules and 20 theatres...
  25. Coolness factor aside, using expendable stealthy drones must be way cheaper, also easier to deny if something goes wrong over hostile territory. Too bad, the SR-71 is one of the most amazing airplanes ever built.
