  1. I think this has to do with airborne refueling, so look up the documentation for that cockpit panel.
  2. +1 to sobek here... While a lot of people play online, a lot of us don't! It's more important to get the game working on a general level (helps everyone) than fixing multiplayer functionality (helps some people). I'm not going to claim any percentage of who does what and how large a group of people play multiplayer, I just know that priorities tend to be sorted by how grave the bug is and how many people are affected.
  3. Why on earth would you want to reinstall your PC once a month? I used to do a clean install once or twice a year when I was younger, now I do it if it really needs to (and thank you MS for making the process sooo much simpler with Windows 8 and newer!)...
  4. Having third party options like this makes it more interesting for developers to include open-source support for head-tracking, which in turn opens up for a bigger market for head-tracking hardware, and then the snowball starts to roll... ;) While I laike my TrackIR5 w/ PRO Clip, I do agree that the clip is a flimsy PoC, so I'll be on the fence, leaning towards getting a set...
  5. What joystick are you using? If you're using the TM Warthog stick and throttle, make sure you go into the settings menu, under the MISC tab and check "Synchronize Cockpit Controls with HOTAS Controls at Mission Start". I had the same issue of having to move my throttle and a lot of the toggle switches back and forth one time before DCS registered the Off > Idle change. Also, I found this guide to be a great way to learn the start-up procedure: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1655973&postcount=1
  6. I got my Warthog stick and throttle around summer 2014. I have both plugged into a USB hub, and in my experience, plugging the hub into a USB3 port is bad. It works fine a lot of the time, but sometimes I see the lights on the throttle blink off and on again at random intervals. What happens is that the throttle loses connection to the PC for a few seconds and is discovered again. Incredibly frustrating. After moving the hub to a USB2 port I've had no problems at all. And yes, I have tried plugging the TMWH into the USB3 directly with the same result. ASUS has decided (in their infinite wisdom) to sell a motherboard with a ton of onboard USB headers and nothing to plug in them. I happened to have one USB2 and one USB3 backplate adapter lying around, but I'm REALLY lacking USB-ports atm...
  7. Fixed to a board is no problem as I'm going to build a rig for my sim-stuff anyways. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  8. Yes, after one year(!) of steadily declining performance, my Saiteks decided to go belly up on me. The supplier has now (two months later) given up trying to get me a replacement from Saitek and has refunded my money (how nice of them!). The center detent became very inaccurate. Jitter in the sensors required close to 10% deadzone to counter. Toe-brakes didn't return to their full up position, so I had to curl my toes around the top and pull them up. The USB connection would randomly drop (though not often) and sometimes come back up as an Unknown Device. Unplugging them and plugging them back in usually solved this. The sensors would read rudder inputs for a bit less than a second and then not read anything for up to two seconds, then read inputs again. CONSTANTLY! Conclusion: I'm NOT getting another pair of Saiteks! Now I need to find a good pair of rudder pedals. I've already looked at the MFG Crosswind and the Slaw Bf-109, but I would prefer a toe-brake style set. EDIT: Looks like Slaw is manufacturing his F-16 style model now. :) Are there any alternatives out there that are around the same price (or maybe even a bit less)? I'm on a bit of a budget and I'd like to see the options available to me.
  9. Posted in the wrong forum, delete me.
  10. Stick: (Uh, where?) Throttle: #26523 Location: Look to the left!
  11. The release version of 1.5 is called DCS 2. ;) DCS 1.5 was made available to test EDGE (Eagle Dynamics Graphics Engine) while Nevada still wasn't ready for release. Once the Black Sea map is 2.0 compatible I assume 2.0 will become the new Open Beta and 1.5 will cease to exist.
  12. Excellent info! If you have TrackIR, could I ask that you have him do and "walk-n-talk" through the proper startup and shutdown procedure, maybe while recording his commentary via Audacity or something similar and upload the sound-file along with the .trk, just for reference? I'd give my left arm for that...
  13. I've zipped up the torrent files for the 1.5.2 update here: http://snorreselmer.net/dcs152.zip
  14. My updater crashed the first time it tried to update DCS, just after the torrenting was done. I ran the DCS updater again and it did the torrent download again (500MB or so) and updated just fine.
  15. Thanks! All encouragement is good encouragement!
  16. I found a strange issue when mapping the parking spots at Nellis AFB. There is no spot named F69! I don't just mean in the list of available spots, I mean on the map itself. Spots F68 and F70 are next to each other with no room for an F69. Or maybe it's just that the americans are afraid someone will make immature jokes? ;) EDIT: Same thing with F169...
  17. That's what inspired me to do The One Map. ;) It's too cumbersome to have multiple maps for a single airport. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks for appreciating my work. I'll get working on an even bigger map of Nellis on Monday where every spot is marked, not just groups of spots. After that I'll get cracking on Creech and Groom Lake. McCarran comes last as it is mainly a civil airport. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  19. Unplug everything (keyboard and mouse included) from the USB bus, set the screensaver to activate after one minute, then connect one device at a time. Let the screensaver activate before plugging in another until you find the culprit(s). Yes, there can be several. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  20. I've had one teensy weensy problem (nothing big). Apparently some people with certain ASUS motherboard have an issue where the Warthog HOTAS and/or the Saitek rudder pedals can prevent the screensaver from activating. I had that issue for a while, but it seems to be sorted out. I loved Windows 7, I loathed Windows 8, I loved Windows 8.1 and I love Windows 10! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  21. Great find there mwd2. I hope someone could interpret the airfield diagram at the start of the document where you have the areas for EOR(?), Drag Chute Jettison, Hot Brakes and Hydrazine incidents.
  22. When you're done with the module guides, how about a guide for the Mission Editor? I really would like to get working in the ME, but I find it overwhelming with all its options etc. A step-by-step guide like the ones you have made for the aircraft modules so far seems like a great way to do this.
  23. YouTube (and especially Bunyap) helped me more than the in-game tutorials when it came to learning the A-10C (like CCRP bombing with dumb bombs). I went through the interactive Cold Start tutorial many times but I finally learned it when I ditched the tutorial and sat down with a printed copy of some checklists. The tutorials are by no means bad, they are in fact excellent, but it all depends on how you learn best. For me it tends to be to watch a video four-five times and then "learning by failing miserably" until I get it right.
  24. Those were the generations I was thinking of. Thanks for correcting me. :) Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
