  1. Glad it’s working! Didn’t know you could do that with quest, how is it?
  2. Glad you got it fixed! Of note for anyone else who finds this thread, I found this week’s Oculus beta update caused massive stutters that appeared to be related to tracking (on Rift Sj. I reverted back to stable Oculus and all is well again.
  3. What headset are you using? Yesterday Oculus came out with an update on the public test channel that broke my VR experience as well (I was able to load in VR, but tracking was terribly stuttery and unuseable). I reverted Oculus back to the stable branch and this fixed it. Also, sometimes when Oculus updates, you'll need to reboot the PC, or sometimes there will be a firmware update that needs to be done to the headset and controllers. This will often cause the problem you speak of. Just spitballing a few ideas.
  4. Size is one issue for Blackhawks. It would involve upgrading existing infrastructure, and jeopardize our ability to air transport the things (can one fit in a C17? Not sure, but certainly not a Herc) *edit - apparently it can?* Hellfires are a pipe dream, as are stingers - we will never get them. Don’t know why, but there’s an aversion to them in our procurement system. As for avionics, that’s an easy transition, I flew the Venom sim a couple years ago and the extra glass was no problem. Besides, Griffon is being upgraded to glass cockpits in the next couple years anyway. Also getting new engines and I think new transmissions and masts, so here’s hoping for increased hot/high performance, which is really the only area we lack anyway. But we digress - +1 for AH1W in DCS!
  5. Haha, well as a Griffon driver myself, maybe I’m just hoping I’d get a chance to fly them. Z Cobras would never be in our budget. Realistically, some new UH-1Y models would suit us nicely. The conversion training from the Griffon would be minimal, and our attack ops tactics would be largely the same, with the ability add rockets into the equation. Plus the cost would probably be well within our budget. Besides, we already maintain 2 totally different helos with different roles - Griffon and Chinook.
  6. Yup, this is it. The higher pressure under the wing curls around the tip of the wing to fill the void of the lower pressure on top, creating circular vortices. Visually, this is how it looks: I personally hit wake turbulence from a Challenger in a Grob 120 at about 100ft after takeoff... If I hadn't been in an aerobatic airplane with a quick roll rate, it would have been a lot scarier.
  7. Take my country's money!!
  8. Yeah, I have until the 22nd. I just hooked up my old CV1 again tonight and did a comparison, and while clearer I’m not sure the S is enough of an improvement to justify the cost. If the reverb didn’t exist I’d keep it, but now... decisions, decisions.
  9. Negative, I’ve been looking everywhere. I think I may return my Rift S in favour of this one, if I can find it.
  10. Hmm, I thought only Oculus controllers worked in DCS. Reverb is looking even better, if I can ever get my hands on one...
  11. Yeah, be careful then. Don’t go much past where the knob feels loose
  12. Wait - he was using hand controllers? I thought they didn’t work for mixed reality headsets in DCS. Will the reverb controllers work??
  13. Yes, you can keep going once it gets harder to turn, that’s when it actually starts to apply tension. Be careful trying to go too loose though, as it will cause the screw inside that holds it on to come off and you will lose tension control. Easily fixed by opening it up but a pain nonetheless.
  14. Still nowhere to be seen in Canada. HP site says sold out and Amazon actually removed their listing entirely last night. Guess I’m staying with my Rift S...
  15. Yeah, I largely fixed it with the software recalibration as well. I still need a deadzone in game of 2, which really isn't that bad. Before I software recalibrated, I needed a DZ of 4, so it made a big difference.
  16. My room is very bright, that didn't seem to be the cause for me. That being said, I haven't seen it since last week's firmware and Oculus home update (I also opted into Beta).
  17. Try switching to guns mode, then back to AIM. There’s a long standing bug where during airstart the radar doesn’t pick anything up. You can tell it’s present because the option to select PRF on the left will be gone. Switching to guns and back usually fixes it, you may have to do it a couple times.
  18. It also (in DCS) has the terminator for a gunner, who can shove an AT11 up your nose before you even achieve a stable hover to fire your TOW! Since the countermeasures you speak of aren’t implemented in DCS, let’s call it even :)
  19. Yup, same. Some days I swear I am going to return it before my 30 days are up, others I vow to keep it... I have the same tracking issue, though it hasn’t happened recently. It goes from 6DOF to 3DOF, I posted about it in the Vr issues section.
  20. I tried to use the couplings from an old X55 to make one myself, but I got stumped on the wiring. I really would like to make this work too, but I also want to keep the couplings on my new stick intact so it is reversible. It would be easy otherwise!
  21. +1. I have little interest in the F model, the TOW missiles will mean against AI tanks we will still be sitting ducks against their AT4s, just like the Gazelle is now. It will bring nothing to the table that we don’t already have in the Huey and Gazelle. We need a hellfire carrying platform!
  22. My first VR experience was in the Spitfire. I was taxiing with the canopy open, and leaned out the side to see past the nose. Completely subconsciously, I placed my arm on my desk beside me as if it was the canopy rail, and as I leaned out I could see the exhaust stacks firing in front of me. I could almost smell the exhaust in my face!
  23. Awesome!! Very well done and entertaining. Thank you for the work!
  24. I can’t find it anywhere up here yet, HP, Amazon, Microsoft, Best Buy, no one is listing it yet.
