  1. Hey everyone, Anyone else have this issue? Twice in the last 3 days, my Rift S has lost 6DOF tracking and reverted to 3DOF. The only way to fix it was to unplug the USB and plug in again. I haven’t heard of any other issues, anyone?
  2. I have an L shaped desk, with a small table on the other side of my chair for the throttle. I just place the controllers on the surfaces right next to my stick and throttle, very easy to find when I need them.
  3. They work pretty much identically.
  4. Had a weird issue today where tracking reverted to 3DOF. Restarting oculus didn’t work, I had to unplug the USB and plug in again. Also, the microphone would not work, and again I had to unplug and replug. There still seem to be a lot of software issues...
  5. This thread encouraged me to stop pulling the paddle in dogfights. And you know what? It hasn’t changed my kill ratio. I just make sure I’m flying a bit slower (corner for instantaneous 7.5g vs 9g). Most fights devolve to slower speeds where it’s not needed or would bleed speed way too quickly anyway.
  6. I’m going to go against the grain a bit. SDE is still extremely evident to me, especially against a clear blue sky. It is greatly improved from CV1, but by no means is it non-noticeable. Inside the cockpit and menu clarity is worlds better. Outside the cockpit, the difference is barely noticeable. I was hoping for a marked increase in ball clarity, but it’s hardly better at all. At 0.5nm, I still cannot discern if I am one or 2 dots high vice bang on. You can see low because of the red light, but 1 or 3 dots low is not distinguishable. I know I’m in the sweetspot because text clarity is good and I can easily see individual pixels. That darn ball just still isn’t clear... I do have 20/15 uncorrected vision though, so maybe it’s more evident to me. I’ll give it more time, but for now I’m on the fence about whether it’s worth the cost of upgrade.
  7. I’m not saying it’s correct behaviour, just what I’ve observed.
  8. I’ve found this in multiplayer, it seems tied to ping. The higher the ping, the worse it is. I find it extremely hard to get guns kills on players over 200 ping.
  9. So presumably the touch controllers still work in DCS?
  10. I can’t get above 65K. Oh she keeps climbing at a decent 1500fpm, and I still have 10,000lbs of gas... I just get bored :D It would take at least another 20mins to climb to 95K!
  11. *mike drop* Well said. In the end this is a piece of entertainment software.
  12. I have a tracking number, it is definitely enroute!
  13. But it shipped yesterday!! I just want my new Rift! ;)
  14. They are saying delivery by end of day Thursday, so tues + wed + thurs = 3 days :)
  15. Yeah, I don’t know why Thursday. End of day Wednesday would make sense, 2 days after release, but end of day Thursday is 3 days
  16. Mine shipped today from Amazon, but saying arrival on Thursday. I have prime so should be 2 day shipping... maybe it will arrive sooner
  17. They’ve certainly lost some buyers over this. I was going to get the reverb, but after hearing good reviews on the Rift S, I’ve preordered it. If the reverb comes out in time, I may cancel my preorder, and may even return the Rift if within 30 days, but the clock is ticking! I think I’m not alone either.
  18. I’m aiming for that one too (3700X I think). The top end 16 core is supposed to go to 5.1ghz, but for a lot more money. I’m not sure the extra 0.1ghz is worth the cost, and I can probably get the same or better overclock with the 12 core part anyway.
  19. Launch details are expected at computex in the first week of June, and you should be able to buy one by 7/7. https://www.pcgamer.com/computex-2019-everything-you-need-to-know/ I’ve been following this one closely. This chip is the reason I built on team red 2 years ago with a Ryzen 1600X and a good mobo: I can drop this chip straight into the system I built 2 processor generations ago and see a significant performance boost. Try that on Intel!
  20. July 7th has been the date thrown around for awhile. 7/7 to play on the milestone of being first 7nm process.
  21. This is true, but not nearly as prevalent as it is in the DCS Huey.
  22. In real life, the searchlight is effective to about 200ft AGL, any more and it disperses quite quickly. I haven’t tested in DCS to see if it meets this metric or not, but FYI.
  23. You’ll get there, and once you do you will wonder what all the fuss was about :)
  24. Might be able to make one this weekend. Easy to replicate though: at longer ranges (I think 30+NM), you attempt a STT on a hot AI MIG29. The radar will lock for less than a second, then lose the lock (broken box on HUD), and after a few more seconds when it doesn’t reaquire it goes back to RWS. Try again, same result until close enough. I’m not saying conclusively this is due to jamming, as it would be a very poor and simplified implementation if so. However, it has much the same overall effect on a hornets ability to engage. :dunno:
  25. Haha the tweet, really? Looks a lot like our old Tutor (which the Snowbirds still fly) You must have some great stories of students trying to kill you in those things!
