I’ve found this in multiplayer, it seems tied to ping. The higher the ping, the worse it is. I find it extremely hard to get guns kills on players over 200 ping.
-
So presumably the touch controllers still work in DCS?

I can’t get above 65K. Oh she keeps climbing at a decent 1500fpm, and I still have 10,000lbs of gas... I just get bored :D It would take at least another 20mins to climb to 95K!

*mike drop* Well said. In the end this is a piece of entertainment software.

I have a tracking number, it is definitely enroute!
-
But it shipped yesterday!! I just want my new Rift! ;)
-
They are saying delivery by end of day Thursday, so tues + wed + thurs = 3 days :)
-
Yeah, I don’t know why Thursday. End of day Wednesday would make sense, 2 days after release, but end of day Thursday is 3 days
-
Mine shipped today from Amazon, but saying arrival on Thursday. I have prime so should be 2 day shipping... maybe it will arrive sooner

They’ve certainly lost some buyers over this. I was going to get the reverb, but after hearing good reviews on the Rift S, I’ve preordered it. If the reverb comes out in time, I may cancel my preorder, and may even return the Rift if within 30 days, but the clock is ticking! I think I’m not alone either.

Launch details are expected at computex in the first week of June, and you should be able to buy one by 7/7. https://www.pcgamer.com/computex-2019-everything-you-need-to-know/ I’ve been following this one closely. This chip is the reason I built on team red 2 years ago with a Ryzen 1600X and a good mobo: I can drop this chip straight into the system I built 2 processor generations ago and see a significant performance boost. Try that on Intel!

This is true, but not nearly as prevalent as it is in the DCS Huey.

reported earlier searchlight ...lack of power/distance
Sandman1330 replied to mastercosta's topic in DCS: UH-1H
In real life, the searchlight is effective to about 200ft AGL, any more and it disperses quite quickly. I haven’t tested in DCS to see if it meets this metric or not, but FYI. -
Raven One: upcoming DLC campaign for F/A-18 Hornet

You’ll get there, and once you do you will wonder what all the fuss was about :) -
ETA for fixing FA/18 & F-14 immunity to Flankers' jammers?
Sandman1330 replied to BattleAxes Skinner's topic in General Bugs
Might be able to make one this weekend. Easy to replicate though: at longer ranges (I think 30+NM), you attempt a STT on a hot AI MIG29. The radar will lock for less than a second, then lose the lock (broken box on HUD), and after a few more seconds when it doesn’t reaquire it goes back to RWS. Try again, same result until close enough. I’m not saying conclusively this is due to jamming, as it would be a very poor and simplified implementation if so. However, it has much the same overall effect on a hornets ability to engage. :dunno: -
Haha the tweet, really? Looks a lot like our old Tutor (which the Snowbirds still fly) You must have some great stories of students trying to kill you in those things!
-
When I flew the Harvard II (Texan II) I think we were taught the slip technique, but that’s because that thing has such spindly landing gear you can’t land with any crab at all. Got a buddy who rode the silk after landing hard and initiating a go around, only to find out he couldn’t get 3 green again afterwards... Didn’t know that about the 777, cool!
-
The crab technique is probably used because the wing low technique risks scraping low hanging stores on the runway, like fuel tanks. Commercial airliners also crab rather than slip to avoid scraping under wing mounted engines.

ETA for fixing FA/18 & F-14 immunity to Flankers' jammers?
Sandman1330 replied to BattleAxes Skinner's topic in General Bugs
The enemy aircraft were hot, over 900kts closure, so definitely not notching. This happens to me consistently against AI, I haven’t done enough BVR against other players to say conclusively if it happens in MP as well. Again, not sure if something else is at play, but I had always just kind of chalked it up to a poor or simplified implementation of jamming... -
You may be right, I was thinking of SSAA/FSAA. However, in DCS 4x MSAA has a huge performance hit since the deferred shading was implemented, so there will be performance savings there.
-
In addition to a PD of 1.0, at that resolution it may be possible to go without any MSAA at all as well. Right now I run MSAA x4 and PD 1.5, so rendering 6x the pixels. Now if it would just be possible to actually buy it...

I really had high hopes for this thing, but it is looking more and more like vapourware. I’ve pre-ordered the Rift S on Amazon, which should ship on May 21. I can cancel up to then, and I then have 30 days after I get it to return if need be. Therefore, if the Reverb shows up before late June, I should still be able to return the Rift. Maybe I’ll even order both and return one after trying them. At least this way, if the Rift goes into back order I’m at the front end. Still hoping for the Reverb to materialize, but the reviews on the Rift display are good...

ETA for fixing FA/18 & F-14 immunity to Flankers' jammers?
Sandman1330 replied to BattleAxes Skinner's topic in General Bugs
I'm wondering if the Hornet truly is immune to jamming right now. I have found that I often have difficulty achieving a stable STT until within a certain range, usually 30NM or so against an AI MiG29. Before that, attempting to lock will give me a very brief STT, followed by a lost track and return to RWS. While this isn't a correct depiction of what jamming would look like (I shouldn't even be able to see them in RWS, as range information is denied), it does seem like there is some effect there. Or maybe it's just still bugs in the Hornet's radar, but it should be able to maintain STT outside 30NM...
