  1. Awesome! Loved the series. Can’t wait to fly with Cajun, Weed and of course Flip! Just call all the AI Saint, they fly like him anyway :megalol:
  2. Now that —norender is available, what I’ve done is create symlinks for the terrain folders, and placed them on my 1tb HDD, instead of my tiny 128GB SSD. Since there’s no need to render anymore, it greatly saves space without hurting performance, so far.
  3. Awesome, that's great news, thank you! I'll have to try this tonight. If we can use the maps we've all purchased in MP now, that would be amazing.
  4. Are you able to run both instances on the same account? If so... maybe I can use my main account to run my dedi server, and play (on a separate computer) with a second instance, using the same account? This might allow me to use the same map license to both run the server and my client?
  5. The requirement still, unfortunately, exists. They've only stated they are considering removing it, nothing confirmed. :dunno:
  6. We really really really want to run PG on my server... but (mostly) out of principle we won’t purchase a second license. Any timeframe on the decision whether to allow other terrains? My PG map sits idle, and likely none of us will purchase Syria if we can’t use it on our server. Not to mention the hard drive requirements of leaving so many maps installed... will running in norender mode still require the map be installed, if you do allow free licenses for servers? Or maybe just a skeleton of the map for the server, to save space?
  7. Thanks! Also funny, my first attempt to create a track, I did an air start. Not only did the issue not arise after rearming, but there was no warm up required at all after rearming! Separate issue but perhaps related?
  8. Attached is a track I made. It shows that, after taking off from the carrier with 4 x 65F, the first warm up and firing is normal. After landing (excuse my very overweight and less than stellar carrier landing) and rearming, the warm up then goes as normal - for the first maverick. Note there is a bit of a delay from when the countdown stops to when you can actually uncage it, but it's only about 5 secs or so. After firing the first one, you must wait 3 mins (though there's no countdown and I didn't time it, I think it's 3 mins) before you can uncage and fire the next. This continues for the remaining 3 65Fs. I used some time compression making this track, I hope that didn't cause any issues (I was short on time). The track is too large to post on the forum, so please find it at the following link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ascm8Kmu7NR0gdxrc1Frf9YY3YFvvQ Let me know if there's any issues with it. Thanks
  9. Ha, as a real pilot I’m the opposite. I spend my work days doing cold starts and systems checks, maintenance test flights, etc. Even our tactical trips involve a lot of “work” and planning even though we have fun ripping along at 90kts and 15ft AGL. I jump in DCS to do the fun stuff I wish I could do more of in real life. I skip the start checks and the detailed planning and jump right into the combat flying, because the boring stuff just feels like being back at work. I guess to make this relevant to the thread, I would be an advocate of just going to the boat and doing circuits. I train at the boat and just do hook-up bolter patterns, you can usually tell by the ball position and your sight picture on touchdown whether it was a good approach or not.
  10. In my case it was 4 x 65F, fired all 4 and rearmed, then they’d only warm up one at a time
  11. I get the same bug in the same situation too. It’s been a thing for awhile actually. They warm up one at a time after a rearm.
  12. The only real difference between 55 and 56, aside from some internal fixes, is you get a thumb axis on the stick instead of just a button, and the throttle thumb axis can now be depressed as a button also, and seems to work better as an axis. When the Hornet came out, I upgraded to the 56 because it allowed me to get closer to the actual setup (A10C too). I use the stick thumb axis as bands to activate key presses, allowing me to use it for weapon select in the 18 and CMS in the A10. Up to you to decide if this feature is worth the cost of upgrade. Note though that I find the centering of the 56 to be less precise than the 55, there’s a bit of wiggle in the center.
  13. Here ya go! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3225673 Also excellent is this afterburner detent. Had a friend print it for me and it lines up perfectly with the software detent in game. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2370066
  14. The new one I just bought came with an attachment for the handrest that raises it up a bit, just enough to make the controls on the top reachable without moving my hand. Did yours come with one? If not, I think thingverse has a 3D model for one.
  15. You are reading attitude where none exists. G’night!
  16. Are you actually firing the laser? You need to either set up auto lase in the DSMS or manually fire it with the NWS switch. Look for the flashing L in the TGP Edit: disregard, reread and saw you set auto lase. I second the above - tms up long to set TGP as spi
  17. Does the indicated fuel account for unuseable fuel? In every aircraft I’ve flown, the fuel gauge is calibrated to not include unuseable fuel, and the unuseable is factored into the weight and balance for the empty weight of the aircraft (ie 0 fuel weight actually includes the unuseable stuff) Is the Tomcat the same, or are we going to have to hold 700-800 on the totalizer in addition to a normal reserve?
  18. An over G inspection beats a heater up the tailpipe!
  19. It’s more of an issue if you’re using a quad channel capable chipset, but only 2 sticks. You would be leaving a lot of memory bandwidth on the table in that scenario. Ryzen (first gen for sure) is still finicky about RAM, and definitely overclocks better with only 2 sticks, vice 4. Intel may be different, or you maybe got lucky :) Also Ryzen users tend to go 3000+ on the memory since Ryzen likes fast RAM. Maybe that makes a difference in the 2v4 stick argument too.
  20. What chipset are you using? If you are using Z170/270/370/390 or Ryzen you should use 2, as you have dual channel RAM. If on threadripper or x299/399 for X series intel chips, go 4 sticks, as you have quad channel ram. Btw - I love my 32gb or RAM.
  21. This is a good afterburner option for X55/56. A friend printed it for me and it works perfectly, also lines up perfectly with the software location of the detent in DCS (no axis tuning necessary) https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2370066
  22. Yup - there’s a sprag clutch that (functionally if not mechanically) acts like the pedal clutch on a mountain bike. You pedal and provide power, it engages and drives the wheel. Stop pedalling and let it freewheel, and it disengages and lets it coast. (The pedals are the engine and the wheel is the rotor in this analogy) This is why, even with the engines running, an aggressive flare or low collective setting can allow the rotor to exceed limits on the high side, while the engines just sit at idle.
  23. I already did, they marked it not a bug :dunno:
  24. Same. Easily replicated, happens every time we air spawn on my server. You need to switch between AIM120/AIM9 modes back and forth a couple of times, then it starts working. I ended up (kind of) reporting it in this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=226032
  25. Thanks Rich. Float the idea at the next staff meeting maybe? :) And what about the X65F? Any talk of resurrecting the force sensing stick?
