Which VR headset is the best?
Gnadentod replied to julianb8504's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Clap clap. -
I'm convinced the network code/"engine" DCS World runs on was never made in mind for 50 people flying on servers at the same time, not even 40, 30 or even 25. So I would never stretch it. Pretty sure it gets better quick the lower the playercount. Personally I would never go above 25 or 20. Instead you can populate the world with AI, there are tools for it now (Pro tip: MOOSE ... so server performance is not an argument).

Dude, he knows that. Point being you have no Tacview as it should be, namely seeing every plane, missile for analyzing what happened, he only and only sees his own plane. No one needs that and it defeats the purpose of Tacview entirely... He wants to know how he can actually see everything in this Tacview file he downloads from GS. I don't know it.

https://www.sensoryx.com An alternative. These are tracking your hand movements also when outside your actual field of view. You can also find videos about it on youtube. Look for "VRfree".

Which VR headset is the best?
Gnadentod replied to julianb8504's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You might reconsider this later: https://www.amd3d.com/radeon/amd-radeon-big-navi-rx-gamma-flagship-gpu-specs-leaked/ I'm surely waiting for benchmarks of this. -
GPU voltage/frequency and memory voltage/frequency is somewhwat finicky with DCS. I had to downclock my VRAM to not get green screens after an hour or so. DCS goes heavy on the video memory.

You'll never realize how much you're surrounded by idiots as much as I do. Here we go again.
-
You must choose your loadout before taxing and taking off. You can do this in the communication menu.
-
I know what's in the works, atleast according to rumors, for the next AMD cards. But NVidia won't sit idly by without releasing newer and stronger cards themselves, too. Only the benchmarks will tell.
-
Maybe I doubt it aswell but I want it. It don't know another way how their cards will compete with the next NVidia series, they must surpass 2080 Ti performance first.

I wouldn't call it "lack of foresight". It's just so that a large majority of new people coming into DCS in the last few years, especially since the release of the Hornet, are quite spoiled when it comes to what they expect in terms of "bugs" and "graphics", coming from AAA titles which have a completely different target audience. The pilots which know DCS from before the times where there were clickable jet cockpits, do look at DCS more from a aviation simulator point of view (which they should) and not focusing on or crying about bugs which are not even breaking the experience totally or are not up to date graphics, like people who buy every shooter title from AAA studios. Those knowing and being with DCS longer than the Hornet release are collectively more thankful and patient with ED than the newer folk. Right now they are growing out of a super niche where they've been and have quite a bit more ... responsibility should I say, and eyes on them due to their name they have made for themselves. A lot of people, especially the new ones just have not enough patience. Some are even quite arrogant. Throwing money at it won't hasten the growth, same way the available graphics cards from Nvidia or AMD just will not be released faster only because people would be willing to pay/pay more as usual.

SLI’d 1080s v 1x 2080 worth it?
Gnadentod replied to skunk160's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
SLI and Crossfire only and only helps you in 2D in DCS, not VR. It scales "good", like a plus of 20 to 40 percent on average. -
Option to turn off ALL screen text
Gnadentod replied to Anonymous User's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yes, there's a good chance you will not see any hints or report messages which the mission designer has incooperated into his mission on your screen. But this makes it just more realistic, doesn't it ... -
Yes still running good, but waiting for the next generation cards, I'm hoping the panic doesn't push the release date too far ... My 5700XT was always just a temporary solution to have the simulator on years end and support AMD. I had no faith in getting DCS using SLI or Crossfire in VR anyway in the near future, so I'm hoping for a dual GPU graphics card with two GPUs on one card, which is not SLI or Crossfire per definition but still a big surplus on performance. This might start to get into PCIe Generation 4 territory, which I have a slot on the board for. In this instance I wouldn't care about power usage as long as it delivers the performance. Imagine the performance jump having one GPU handling one eye and the other core the other eye display, not yet talking about Vulkan.

Option to turn off ALL screen text
Gnadentod replied to Anonymous User's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Having a working VoiceAttack installation with a succesfully loaded Vaicom Pro plugin loaded into DCS, while there "Hide On-Screen Text" is ticked. Go through the configuration menu of your Vaicom Pro profile again and check what you've ticked and what not. If it still doesn't work, your VA installation and/or Vaicom Pro profile is corrupt. -
8GB of VRAM get easily maxed out by DCS with a Reverb, not even using the highest possible settings which pushes VRAM usage up. I have no 2080Ti but I wouldn't doubt you can also or almost max out the 12GB of a 2080Ti. When buying a new card for DCS Reverb VR no one should aim for less than 12GB on VRAM if he can. Having a 1000W PSU, I hope one "Big Navi" card will be a dual GPU card so you will have a Crossfire performance plus in DCS VR without original Crossfire or SLI even officially working in DCS VR.

Upgrading my Graphics card?
Gnadentod replied to dave-uk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
3080 Ti will not come out this year, the Ti version releases always take atleast 6 months and on average 9 months after the non-Ti version of its family comes out, never before. But there will be cards in there which have a performance on the same level what a 2080 Ti can offer now. -
Yes, needs to be done any way. It does not save the last state you have set the chat to, when you have set the chat visible and then use the combo to turn it off and then on again, it doesn't come back with it. Close thread or not, doesn't matter to me. Didn't know you had to make it visible "again" twice with using L SHIFT + TAB afterwards.

Possible PC Performance Issue with DCS
Gnadentod replied to TheStrikeEagle's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Pro tip: Just install both, use Open Beta as long as it's running and when it's not: go use your Stable version. You have 1TB SSD. You can download Update Utility from SkateZilla to manage them. -
According to the control options menu, with "L CTRL + L SHIFT + Y" you can hide and bring back the chat window in multiplayer (small letter symbol, toggle). On my end it only hides it, but I can never bring it back this way.

What do I need to make a good DCS Server?

Have you ever monitored network traffic on it and if yes, how high is it? How many slots does it offer? -
Would like to hire someone to help with .lua

Might be better to look for in the "Input and Output" -> "Home Cockpit" forum. Maybe a mod moves this one right here.
