1080 Ti has more VRAM, which translates into possibly higher texture quality. I'm maxed out on a 5700XT 8GB GDDR6 with Terrain Textures on high, there's a little more room when I set them to low. I have the good cockpit shadows on though.

VoiceAttack with or without Viacom?
Gnadentod replied to BlacleyCole's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What a lot of people don't do, and why their Vaicom experience then sucks, is not training Windows to learn how certain terms sound like when you speak them. You don't just train the words in the Vaicom configuration menu but you must do it on Windows first and then Vaicom on top of it and you'll soon have no problems with it when it comes to recognizing your words. It can take some time but it's a one time spending per Windows install. The chatter theme expansion is also a nice add-on which adds to the immersion. 15 to 20€ one time payment really is not a lot of money. -
CPU upgrade, is it worth it?
Gnadentod replied to Andrew u.k.'s topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's a simulation, a lot more complex calculations going on compared to games. And also not properly optimized as it could be. Then, VR is as demanding as 4K where dipping below a certain FPS threshold is more of a tragedy than on a normal screen. -
Shouldn't be implemented if ED wants to keep their dignity.

Everyone should still use the mod.

Ultimate VR Build, $2k budget
Gnadentod replied to intenseas's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
3700X/3800X High clock, low latency 32GB DDR4 RAM (3200 - 3800 Mhz) 2080 Super or 2080 Ti 750W PSU or stronger or 9700K/9900K 32GB DDR4 RAM 2080 Super or 2080 Ti 750W PSU or stronger even with high quality components (not cheapest motherboard, PSU, case and so on) you shouldn't max out the 2500$. I have HP Reverb with 3800X, 32GB 3733Mhz RAM, Nitro+ 5700XT, was roughly 1700€ (the system, without Reverb) -
Latest RE: AMD RX 5700 XT and NVIDIA 2070 Super ?
Gnadentod replied to reece146's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The Nitro+ 5700XT is more like a 2080FE than a 2070 Super, it's a 1080 Ti with 8GB instead of 11GB VRAM. I have Nitro+ 5700XT for HP Reverb, 115% SteamVR SS, mid settings in DCS and motionvector reprojection. -
Theres a little too much money to be made for the big tech companies to not work on VR to make it more accessible to the broader tech masses. Next big thing is foveated rendering which will increase performance a lot and thus decrease the requirements for VR. Meanwhile more and more game developers will hop onto it. VR will get better in almost every stretch of imagination, maybe except wallet demands.

A new tweak for Reverb to keep it smooth
Gnadentod replied to GunSlingerAUS's topic in Virtual Reality
You need to use the 90Hz option with motionvector reprojection, not 60Hz option (change in WMR). -
Actually it did work wonders in Arma, you suddenly could crank up the viewranges super high versus previously without really dropping frames, this was not something small. It almost did and does put as much weight on CPU as DCS does. Even a performance increase of 20% with Vulkan is acceptable. Of course the more, the better.

It also depends how much other stuff you have connected to the same USB controller. I have 4 other devices which need power, excluding mouse and keyboard here. If you have all of your flying gear and Reverb plugged into the same motherboard USB controller and everything is working without flaws, then - well you have won the USB controller lottery! If I would get my Reverb shipped for DCS I wouldn't really bet on this and buy something for a better power source right off the bat, nevermind the 20 bucks. You wouldn't really want to wait another three days or so for the next package to arrive when you got the Reverb already, would you?

I'm officially GPU bottlenecked...
Gnadentod replied to A2597's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
1080 Ti level performance doest not cost you more than 600 bucks anymore, not at all. -
I5 6600K plus 2080Ti waste of time?
Gnadentod replied to Boosterdog's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You're on Full HD so get the platform upgrade first. If you plan to go the VR route in the next months get a stronger card first. -
I'm officially GPU bottlenecked...
Gnadentod replied to A2597's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use 5700XT Nitro+ which is basically a 1080 Ti with less VRAM with an HP Reverb. 480€, so .... -
These VR headsets, especially the Reverb should always be used with powered USB hubs (or separately powered PCIe cards) in general. No one with a sane mind does want to power his computer screen via USB connection, let alone two displays. This is basically what these headsets are.

I5 6600K plus 2080Ti waste of time?
Gnadentod replied to Boosterdog's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
2080 Ti certainly is a step up from your current GPU and you will gain more performance, even if CPU bottlenecking would set in. You need to get a stronger PSU for it though, 700 or better 750 Watts and above. -
Why don't Wags create a VR map for better fps?
Gnadentod replied to Crunchy's topic in Virtual Reality
It has lower impact on a 2D screen 45 vs 60 steady FPS, but in VR the impact is greater. You can see the difference if you know what to look for, the smoothness will be a bit better. It's not 1:1 the same. -
See attachment, DCS PD 1.0, SteamVR SS 110%, Motionvector reprojection (capped 45 at FPS), HP Reverb of course, 3800X, 32GB RAM and 5700XT Nitro+. Niedrig is low, Aus is off, Flach is flat. New GPU generations are coming out in the next seven months or so for both AMD and NVidia and Vulkan is on the horizon aswell. So I would really wait if I were you.
-
Your CPU isn't a bottleneck, you could gain a very small amount of performance going with the newest top-notch processors but when using VR it really is the GPU which is the bottleneck, even with 2080 Ti. Let's be excited for how much gain Vulkan brings about.

https://megaupload.is/xd7ejdM7n7/Trackfiles_zip I'm not 100% certain TF2 is the correct one, since I can't watch it like I said, but pretty sure. The described situation is at the end of the track, after taking off for the first time. In TF1, after getting to the enemy ground assets and finding out after some time that the TGP and CCRP AG mode isn't usable when there are no waypoints present, I went back to the mountain region to provide some CAP. You'll see described situation pretty quick from there on, it really is near the end of TF1, I guess about 30 to 40 minutes from track start. Hope you can watch the tracks properly synchronized, because I couldn't.

That's the spirit.
