  1. 1080ti is still half the cost of a 2080, aparently with similar performance. I guess the answer depends on 1) use with other games (dlss enabled) and 2) available $. I had neither and very happy with the 1080ti for now, and hopefully another year or two. Congratz on the purchase, the result will be good regardless.
  2. Interesting, although now I am more interested in a competitor also displaying here in the forums a cheaper alternative.
  3. First off, thanks Debolestis for your genius work with the community. I am wondering on dcs, which aircraft the dual detent afterburners will work best. I have been using the one detent push mod and have a hard time seeing a need for the dual one.
  4. Lighting at night sucks, especially taxi/landing lights in most planes. The flashlight is awesome, and took me a long time to know it existed. The other thing I do is use the NVG with infinite focus, so I can read inside and look outside. I did this to the Mirage, makes it a lot better at night.
  5. Miles, besides daily checking this thread eager to hear more about your project, do you plan to have a website for people to place orders? Let me know, I want to be amongst the first lol.
  6. I just wish the Mirage had the radar upgrade and AM39 Exocet. That would be pure fun for me. The SU25T is great up to a Buk. Waiting to see the Harm on the Hornet. Overall the hornet will be great, perhaps the best, when we get all capabilities enabled, including ground radar.
  7. If I had the skills and cash, perhaps I would. However, adjusting fonts and formatting a pdf to print correctly does not seem easy, and theres a risk it will come out bad. Plus its very expensive, at $40 or more if Im not mistaken.
  8. I gave it as a birthday gift to a friend on June 2015. $33.98 with shipping from Lulu. Good quality, very nice for a sim or library. Now its no longer available for myself :(
  9. #1262 here, also very excited to finally fix the thumbstick. In 4 years I have basically redone the entire thing, including adding teflon tape since my rubber detents worn out. But nothing to fix the annoying thumbstick.
  10. It says you need to go to the UK to receive it.
  11. I also share the feeling that the blast radius is wrong. Sometimes a 500 lbs bomb wont kill an unarmored truck a few meters away. Some bombs are inefective against warehouses too.
  12. I thought the storyline was campaign -> red flag -> pg. Allthe iranian F-14 hints and the fact that we were representing UAE Mirages made it clear in my head that this was the next step. It is the most immersive thing I did on DCS, and it will be a long time until the F/A-18 reaches a useable state (with ag weapons for instance). Plus its a lot sexier than the Boeing. Give us this veterans day gift (or thanksgiving or christmas) lol :joystick:
  13. There are so many interesting aircraft, albeit with a limited available public information. I too think its a pitty to limit our experience to pre/cold war era tech only. In my view we have the professional/higher fidelity modules, and them FC to supply with more generic, but still well modeled aircraft. The F-117, Rafales, Eurofighters, etc, would all be welcomed in this category. For those concerned with balancing issues, just restrict servers and missions to the models desired. All old school games like janes, atf, lightning, f19, etc had these almost fictional aircrafts, and they were all fun.
  14. Not an expert, but what I do is put a small group of enemy infantry (aaa, sam, soldiers, etc) on top of the building or very close to it and make the trigger based on their destruction. Easy and it works, including for jtac laser targeting.
  15. I use one switch to tun taxi lights on/off and the same +modifier for landing lights, for example. The only switches on dcs that screw with me are the global ones (vr zoom, scroll), since they override the modifiers. What about getting a small button box? I have a Derek Speare FLT1 and it is awesome to control all the lights: http://derekspearedesigns.com/dsd-flight---flt1flt2.html
  16. Click at the bottom of the key map screen, add a modifier and then program a key with/without modifier. Try it.
  17. And no worsening of fps, for me something very important.
  18. I can’t say how happy I am for the RTX cards arrival, I just bought a used 1080ti for a very good price. Couldn’t be happier and still can afford to eat. If the 2080ti proves to be 50% or so faster, then I may consider getting one later next year. Although I am starting to see this may not be the case without the ray tracing thing. Im curious also to know if these cards will be enough for next gen VR, the likes of pimax 8kx. I seriously doubt it. Would be very frustrating to spend all that money (over $2000 just in VR HMD and gpu) and have it perform with low fps. TIme for some benchmarks to arrive.
  19. As long as we still get a mirage campaign, Im very happy. Time to review and dust off the hog. It will be a fun experience to get back after spending time on faster aircraft. These campaigns are a big part of what keeps me playing, I am not a fan of multiplayer.
  20. Comparing human vision acuity with a camera is like comparing bananas to a monkey. I also use high gamma just with the Mirage. In VR the switches are unreadable, sometimes even with full zoom. Took me a year to notice the yellow symbol uder the keys on armament panel was actually an “s”. I go from 1.4 to 2.1 gamma and console lights on during daylight.
  21. Great video, I can clearly see it as a viable solution. Thanks for answering our questions. How/when do you plan to sell it?
  22. I just started having a weird bug, where my key bindings doesn’t work in game unless I open the menu, go to key binds, and then exit back to the game. The basic axis controls work normally before that, but the keys/buttons only after doing this. It affects my joystick, throttle, and control box. Nothing changed in my pc that I know of. Any clues to what may cause this? It is annoying to have to pause, open menu and exit every time .
  23. I strongly recommend an aftermarket faceplate with built in prescription lenses. Using glasses directly will depend on it fitting and will scratch the lens if mishandled. Perhaps contacts will be better to avoid damaging. It certainly is possible, but I no longer allow people to use my rift wearing glasses after it got a scratch. An aftermarket solution will cost you $80 or less perhaps.
  24. AP on/off recycle will fix it, since there’s no exclusive trim center button. You can also try to center all trims manually, but its usually futile. I normally takeoff with AP stby/on, so as soon as I release backpressure upon rotation it keeps the pitch.
  25. Like I said, takes way too long to redo the shadders. I was increasing bit by bit and stopped there as it was good enough. I am trying 0.67 now. Will post the results. Tks! EDIT: 0.67 worked beautifully with Oculus and standard insert pads. Thanks!
