More weather themes for every scenery, please.
joca133 replied to Kongamato's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yes, it takes a lot of trial and error to get the weather desired. I would go a step further and have a graphical display of how the weather would look, akin to Flight Simulator and the cloud boxes. -
Vibration pad/chair make it easier to fly?
joca133 replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I am a fan of haptic, had it in my home theater and now I got a small subpac S2 (https://subpac.com/). Having owned very expensive buttkicker setups to $30 chinese transfucers, I found the subpac is a good alternative if looking for something pre built, under $300, great for music, and that can be mobile (backpack worn). I also share the nacked feeling, especially when I forget to turn the unit on and I am taking off with afterburners. It does make me a better pilot, in small part due to the feedback, in large part because it makes me want to fly more. -
If its russian made it will chew through the steel cable like spaghetti . No, not realistic at all. But I didn’t know helicopters could collide with wires, good to know.

I can’t tell the difference here.

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
joca133 replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, future is full of possibilities. When big developers decide on the technology, I am sure it will be amazing. Until then, PointCTRL is here, and it looks amazing too. Leap Motion I used for about three weeks and returned. It works, with accurate hand movements digitalization and tracking, but had no interface with any software I used. Also, the camera was of terrible resolution. If it had a better camera I would have kept it just to be able to check my surroundings and use a real keyboard whith VR on. An IR camera like that of the Leap, activated by a simple head movement is awesome and Oculus Rift certainly lacks a camera. Looking forward for your solution, Miles .- 3421 replies

As I got a little more familiar, the 530 became more deadly. I am not an expert, just on and off weekend warrior stuff. Altitude, speed and keeping target locked. Yes, it is a very limited aircraft both in regards to AG and AA when pitted against more modern fire and forget missiles. I do wish we had Matras and some GPS bombs of some kind, but it is what it is and I am happy. Looking forward for mid life improvements.

AI, Westher improvements, and more content/campaigns/dynamic missions. Those are things that would make DCS more useable for me.

Lol :megalol:. Anyway, it next to impossible to keep things secret nowadays. I am looking forward for the Super Tucano, I would say the airplane I am most looking forward. I was disappointed to hear it was put on a fridge for now. Anyway, I am in, if someone presents an alternative. Not sure about the PC-21 capabilities, but it does look interesting for light support, recon, navigation, and aerobatics.

Beware the new Windows update.
joca133 replied to Tinkickef's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You say “beware”, but what can be done to prevent it from occuring? My home edition will force feed updates down my throat no matter what. My next install ill upgrade to pro just to stop this update insanity. -
Cougar MFD Worth it with VR?
joca133 replied to panton41's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I sold mine this week. Didn’t use much after switching to VR. I had it coupled with 8 inch lcd screens and it was a blast with the A10C, much easier to see data than VR. Unfortunately my current setup left nowhere to place them, but if I could have them close to real life placement I would. -
I agree, a list would be nice, pehaps improving the encyclopedia would help. The encyclopedia has improved, but it is still hard to know what capabilities certain weapons have. I also have a hard time looking for countries that have a specific asset and usually end up just using Russia vs US as they have almost everything.

Why not accelerate time? Wouldn’t this solve all problems? You can still do a full alignment, in a shorter time. Time is relative to a bunch of stuff, so this remains realistic

Wheels chocks impact old replays - Remake old missions ;)
joca133 replied to M2K's topic in Resolved Bugs
Lol, I spent half an hour on a mission I did trying to figure out why my Mirage wouldnt move even with afterburners and no parking brake. Even blamed my pedals and axis config. Good prank from the crew chief I guess. -
I added one to mine, very useful to setup the aircraft at night. Just a quick browse and you will find Werewolf’s mirage nvg mod. Then set the nvg focus distance, and its beautiful. I do wish it came oficially, but I doubt it ever will. To be honest I use it mostly to compensate for the poor resolution and brightness I get with VR.

I agree 100%, and that’s why a PG campaign MUST be a priority :music_whistling:. Seriously, you brought the game to a whole new level, well deserved of the many Michelin stars

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
joca133 replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What hansangb said. The touch controller is useless when using a hotas, and the regular mouse difficult, requiring a table next to me and not immersive. I think its a brilliant solution and I am eager to see the test results and reviews. I am on a very tight budget with so many things going wrong in my life this year, so I am waiting to see if it works well before buying. But it is a very good proposal and cheaper/simpler than a captoglove.- 3421 replies

Barely use the rudders myself, only for crosswind landings and during takeoffs and taxi.

Glad to know it isn’t just me, this pisses me off a lot since I use offset with vor to align with runways. Mouse wheel works, but so far I have to click the wheel each time for a single unit increase, there should be at least a scrolling action to make it faster.

Why is my wingman always running low on fuel?
joca133 replied to spoon95's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
I also don’t think this is new. Like I said, for me, its another ridiculous aspect of the ai state in this game. Don’t get me wrong, I like dcs, but wingman ai are almost useless. Indeed, even with 80-90% power, they still use afterburners a lot to catch up, sometimes laggin for miles behind and then catching up. I hope one day they become much smarter (unless that comes at too high performance costs). Until then with non afterburning aircraft, the best solution is to have 20-30% less fuel yourself and never design missions where AI are not critical and nothing more than extra rounds. Dumbest thing I saw was a roll of 8 ai driven hornets plummeting to a mountain in pure visual day after executing a go-around on a long ass runway. -
Why is my wingman always running low on fuel?
joca133 replied to spoon95's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
Flying the Mirage the wingman burns fuel like mad. They use afterburners 90% of the time, they have trouble with efficiency even when escorting a slower jet. With other aircraft, like a10, I normally put 30% less fuel on my aircraft, but on the mirage my solution is to fit external tanks and prevent them from jettisoning via editor. I wish AI was better, but its one more sad aspect of it. -
Is TEW Campaign 3.0 the same as the one in Steam?
joca133 replied to Max_ARG's topic in A-10C The Enemy Within Campaign 3.0
Hey Baltic, what about a Mirage campaign in the PG? Thats what I have been looking for after the caucasus and nttr campaigns. Despite loving the A10C and having interest in the Hornet, the mirage campaigns are the best thing I ever enjoyed on DCS. -
Would also like to thanks Viper2097, this helped me a lot. One question though, I cant seem to remember how to “switch” from AA to AG gun mode and this pca gun shortcut is sometimes not giving me cue when locked to an airborne target. I tried to push the bottom/leftmost button on pca, it has a yellow light that is unreadable on VR, beneath the jettison arm switch, to no avail. Can anyone clarify this?

Only 5 crashes over the past 5 yrs? Who built your pc, the pope? I wish I could say the same. Just last night it crashed when I clicked on a button assignment at the menu! It’s unbelievably unstable for me and the main reason I dont play much. Of course the reasons vary and the whole pc windoes gaming thing is complex, so I am not putting this on ED alone. But man, smooth frames with decent graphics and no worries about crashing is all I dream.
