Yeah, that would probably be a good way of marketing it and making it sellable. Though that would be a ton of work as well, since they are not all that similar are they. And yeah, I imagine after having done 2 or 3 variants of Harrier you'd be pretty done with the thing for a while.
-
I suppose because the FA2 was really difficult to get information about afaik, particularly its radar, and the FRS1 might be a tough sell with the Plus available?
-
So will you guys be able to vector the heat haze and exhaust smoke depending on the orientation of the nozzles? Or does this require new tech from ED?
-
Except you now have multiple different aircraft to maintain and it remains to be seen if it really gets you that many extra sales. A variant that is wildly different will be sellable but comes with major extra work, a very similar one might not sell well at all while still requiring extra work to maintain it.

btw, can the paintscheme selection thing be turned off? Or limited in what you can select from the server's side? Might be a bit of an issue in IFFing certain aircraft otherwise. -
Mustang's land textures zip file package
iLOVEwindmills replied to Mustang's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
How are you circumventing the IC? Are you doing it in some kind of legitimate way, that other texture modders can also use, or is it an oversight by ED that you are making use of? Guess what I'm asking is if they won't just nuke it in the next patch, and if texture mods are gone for good in MP. -
I don't think anybody is debating that tanks should die from splash, the problem is that even completely unarmoured vehicles need a near direct hit to be destroyed. And let's not even get into how poor clusterbombs perform. It's something that will hopefully be addressed at some point, but I never heard anything official on it.

There must have been some point at which the lag kicked in, I wasn't around during the time a lot of things got added but nobody knows? Notably I remember the forward observer being able to scroll smoothly right after the rework, now it's constantly stuttering. -

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what people were doing. There was essentially a wall of manpads between contested areas last days. I think it would be good to be conservative with the amount of ground units allowed. We can debate about particulars all day but lag/warps makes it impossible for me to enjoy anything about it. -

It would be good to have 2xintercepter and 2xstrikers at all captured bases at the very least, like before. Probably would be good to add a few helis to this as well. Currently a ton of bases have literally nothing when you capture them aside from a TF51. -
It should be possible to either be automated or pilot controlled afaik.
-
Probably a bit early, but do you imagine the implementation to be like IFF ingame currently? ie simplified and is able to just class everything as friendly or enemy? Or more restricted like the A10C ability to track friendly A10C via TAD, but no other friendly planes? The former would certainly be much more useful in MP scenarios. Also, neat bit of info for the A7, I can't wait for that thing.

Like Body already said the fuel depots are a much more elegant solution to this. I do have to say the notion that we are implementing these measures mainly to punish the people who don't care about flying or staying alive in the first place is absurd to me. Can we care about making the thing as good as possible for the players who want to play it properly? You're essentially saying that the lives system does not matter because other people can rejoin when you eliminate someone. -

I don't disagree, there should be a delay, I'm not arguing for hot starts and I think the mirage start up is in a pretty decent place. What I disagree with is that FC3 is so unbelievably gimped that requiring them to start at 0% fuel is just adding insult to injury. In addition to the fact that there is literally nothing you can do while fuelling them, and the insane time you need for spooldown/refuel 2 to 3x m2k fuel quantity/spool up time for when you run out. And I don't see how the fighter spam is in any way countered by this, as I have a distinct picture in my mind of Su27s taking off with 20% fuel vertically and slinging 73s at anything attacking their base. Or 15 with tanks. You realize you now have 3 lives to last you 6 hours? Can you elaborate on how anyone can 'spam' fighters within these limitations? Beyond the fact that fighters are the only thing you can use to kill enemy planes which hardly seems like 'spam'. Killing enemy planes is a pretty important part of the game, it's not really that strange to me that people primarily fly fighters. I don't see how this is really even an issue. -

Hear, hear. I've made the argument a hundred times but people seem to think that fuel does something on FC3 planes, aside from forcing you to browse reddit for 7 mins. -

Tons of ground units? That's the main thing I noticed and it was somewhat laggy from the start of the round. There's an entire squad of Iglas standing next to sochi for instance. -

Sounds like the people who don't want to use the F10 marker already don't use it. Good, problem solved. -

But you already can with tanks on 15 and 20% fuel on 27 (which I imagine would happen again soon). -

What direction is there to move incrementally in though from this point lol. Should be making incremental improvements to the FC3 quality of life, not arbitrarily changing the mirage which will have practically zero effect on the problem that is trying to be adressed. -
Yeah I would not put too much value in those. It's harder to spot things against the ground than against air, but it's clear that DCS does some things that makes it absurdly hard to spot aircraft against terrain. Supposedly things are still changing, so we'll see.

So using LGBs from level flight against a target of opportunity. I'm curious from what altitude this would be possible by using the 'mark target with TGP, spot laser with DMT, drop LGB with CCRP' method. Now the only number I was able to find for a laser spot tracker was the Pave Penny, which has a quoted 'max' range of 37km, and I imagine ARBS would be similar if not more sensitive. ARBS can also gimbal up to 70 degrees down, so I think it should make a level LGB attack possible from pretty much any altitude right? It would also make buddy lasing and IDing targets to friendlies very straightforward. Anyone knows if the DMT can recognize different laser codes?
-
Interesting, so that does mean the extra step of manually giving coordinates to JDAMs, and spotting your own laser for a CCRP solution for LGBs. This is starting to sound like a lot of work haha
-
Mig27 uses only laser designator without camera aimed through HUD like Su25A, K variant added a camera system. http://www.airwar.ru/image/idop/fighter/mig27k/mig27k-8.jpg Anyways, it sounds like the Litening isn't as integrated into the systems as it is with the A10C, but if you aren't familiar with how it works for that plane it might be hard to make the comparison. Appreciating the info anyway, ARBS certainly sounds like a very capable system and should be really cool to use as well.
-
So basically the TGP designates, and the NA figures out the coordinates by detecting the laser spot with the DMT rather than feeding the data directly? Are there any limits in terms of angles and distance (altitude) from which it can do this? Does it use the same process to designate targets for JDAM with the TGP?
