Oh perfect, that's what I've been waiting for. Not broken MSI, or fixes to the Aim-120. well Good thing I only have to wait till next week to see if they finally work on it. OH Wait, now its two weeks.

So once again, nothing for the hornet.

I disagree with Elon Musk completely, AI is no where near able to match human decision making at this time. Such a system is fundamentally limited by the information it’s been given and just can’t compete with a humans capacity to reason and make judgments based on new or unknown input. In other words AI cannot improvise well enough yet for even basic combat sorties. The future of autonomous aircraft will be limited to low or no risk scenarios where they are not required to make complex assessments or deal with rapid changes in the mission. Missions such as aerial refueling, decoy, EW, and transportation. Maybe one day we’ll see a robot fighter aircraft, but even then, taking the human pilot out of the equation opens up a whole new can of worms in regards to cyber and electronic warfare. The benefits simply don’t balance with the risks. A human pilot cannot be hacked or jammed.

That’s fine, I meant no offense to ED I’m sure you people can only do what you can do. I just think it’s funny how people jump down your throat over missile dynamics but they’re fine playing make pretend with other aspects of modern air combat.
-
I love how everyone is so concerned about every possible aerodynamic and guidance problem the missiles may or may not have...but it seems like no one cares that ECM in DCS has basically zero impact on BVR. Where as IRL it’s arguably the single biggest factor. So even if the missiles matched real world perfectly, It’s still completely unrealistic. :D
-
I wish the switches we're at least clickable, so we could pretend. For me it breaks the immersion some what, if I can't touch everything. lol Not a big deal, I'm just OCD about stuff like this.
-
This is why we need rep back.

I don't have a problem with ED adding this specific option to the game (LITENING on 4), However it makes me wounder about future decisions to include "game-play" concessions before/in lieu of actual operational and realistic equipment. i.e. Lets have a complete realistic experience before we start branching out to other operators/variants/time-frames. ect. That's my only concern moving forward. In this case I understand the decision and it seems pretty reasonable to change a load out and model-in an adapter. But if we consider the F-16 for a moment. USAF/ANG block 50 F-16CMs from 2007 NEVER carried LITENING at all. That capability was added in DCS because they were concerned source material for SNIPER was unavailable and so they went with an unrealistic scenario, instead of scrapping the pod or the jet all together. I understand now we may end up getting SNIPER after all which is great, but considering we almost got stuck with a system that the aircraft they chose to model didn't have, concerns me. Makes me feel that we're dipping into crowd pleasing as Kev2go mentioned. Before long DCS is IL-2, then warthunder, Ace Combat yadda yadda. Adding hypothetical or out right unrealistic equipment is IMHO a VERY slippery slope, and quite contrary to DCS' sterling reputation for realism and high fidelity. That's why I personally chose this platform over other "simulators" out there. Its more expensive but it's worth it. But IF they start to go down that road, I'm not so sure. Just my two cents

This, I get the idea most people are less concerned with how the jet was operated IRL and more with: “What’s the most x I hang on the wings”
-
They didn’t, that’s my point. Either way we got LITENING on 4. No need to bash people that don’t want to use it because it wasn’t realistic. Thanks to ED you have a choice. ATFLIR is a lot more then a “duplicate” it’s a far superior pod and it has NAVFLIR for the hud. Most importantly the biggest operator of the hornet exclusively uses it. It was designed specifically for the jet. Because IRL LITENING can’t handle trapping. Also 3-5 years? They’ve stated the hornet will be completed this year, so according to ED we’ll have ATFLIR in less then 11 months..
-
Are those lot 20 hornets from 2005ish? LITENING on 4 for that time period is unrealistic for USMC they may do now, but they certainly didn’t do it back then, for all the reasons skate mentioned. However ED listens so now we can pretend either way. FWIW BRU-55 is also inaccurate for our hornet but we got that too.
-
IRL they have half sized cartridges for each slot in the buckets, we just don't have them in DCSW yet. After they're implemented we'll be able to carry twice as many CMs. The Tomcat originally only had two buckets as well but later on they started using a modified glove Aim-9 rail to hold additional flares, and then they created a chaff launcher that can be fitted to a phoenix pylon in place of a missile.

[DCS ISSUE/WIP] Blue Speckled on Yellow Paint.
Wizard_03 replied to Tinkickef's topic in Bugs and Problems
It’s in every jet with yellow and black striping in the cockpit. -
Performance has actually been a bit better for me in 2.5.6. lol

whoop whoop! Awesome news, can't wait for NSEQ, and then maybe TTT, and TOT functionality can be implemented.

Hahahaha omg lost my Sh*t when I saw this, spilled beer all over my keyboard.

He may turn better up higher but that doesn't help him because he's still slower. You can still get away from him. Up past 20k to 30k. I Agree with everything on this list
-
It may be, but the F-16 can transcribe a very small circle in the air WHILE maintaining energy. The F-16 pilot in that video was not maintaining energy properly. Most F-16s will know enough not to get slow with you like that. So in that particular situation; yes the tomcat can out turn the viper and get his nose around. With both jets dumped like that, it's about rating your nose. Where the high alpha tomcat can rock his world. But in reality a good F-16 won't give you that chance. Their gonna keep their energy up and try to out STR you. Because that's where they have the advantage. You can roll the dice and dump your energy for a shot opportunity at any time, but that's almost never the best idea, for all sorts of reasons. IMO keeping the fight up high where your big ole wings and lifting body come into play is much safer for you. As having an Altitude and Speed advantage allows you to decide when and how the hops gonna shake out, and if you get into trouble just extended away and reset, He cannot follow you.
-
Radius, all day every day. In the horizontal it can out radius just about anything. I’d actually go the opposite of the above strategy. At higher altitudes, the viper looses access to that high G minimum radius turning. While it does have a better thrust to weight in this scenario. The tomcat can still out accelerate it. I zoom and boom with it. Don’t get too vertical but don’t let him take the fight downstairs until you know you can kill him. Keep him nice and far away from you. Knife fighting like in that video is not necessary if you can get him early on without dumping all your energy, and getting into a one circle.
-
Yeah for guns only, I'd just hit the burners and go up into outer space, the little snake can't follow you. He's only got one F-110. ;) then fall back down on him and pounce! All the Gs in the world won't help him when your going downhill on him. No need to try and beat the F-16 at it's own game. No need to brake the flaps, no need to over G the air-frame.
-
I don’t think that rules them out, after all we’re only getting an announcement of a new aircraft this year. EA is probably into 2021-22 timeframe. The waited until the very last minute to do the F-16s 3D model. His comment probably just means their 3D modelers are busy with the other 5 projects they have going.

Why does everyone think it’s gonna be a mother Russia jet? Have laws changed recently that I don’t know about? Because every time that question is put to Wags he basically says; “never” unless Russian laws on military secrecy change or a third party does one? Legitimately asking btw. Sarcasm free post. :)
-
AFAIK the new comms were the most difficult and time consuming aspect for ED to create. Lol

Yes definitely, there's Bugs for sure, and I'm not particularly happy with how RAZBAM handles customer service either. But my point was; whats "missing" as far as the manuals go and step by step instructions is actually quite negligible compared to what IS implemented. That individuals dramatic post makes it sound like you can't even fly the thing, and it doesn't correspond to the manuals at all. In reality I can do most every procedure in the manual, aside from doing things like setting the correct contrast on the displays and setting up the NAVFLIRs detector modes or using dive toss delivery options, a few degraded modes, and some bits ect ect, but frankly you could make the same sorts of statements about missing systems implementation regrading; the hornet, the viper, the tomcat, the MiG-21, the F-5E. So really nowhere near what that post claims. You can be mad about it, but be mad for the right reasons. It not RAZBAM in particular its the whole culture of this sim. But don't get me wrong I want it finished too, but there is ZERO reason for posts like Fusedspine33's riddled with straight up falsehoods and extreme exaggerations, and generalizations. It's not the way to express criticism and it actually hurts our position as customers because it's discrediting to ALL of us. Then we wonder why some of the developers refuse too communicate anymore. Anyways as far as the OP goes, I'd love to see an AV-8B+ in the sim. I don't think we'll have to wait to long for one, once the hornet and vipers radars are complete.
