It does if its translating those coordinates into to target points for MCs, it would have to interface with the aircraft's INS/GPS so it might be a limitation of birds without EGI. Either way though its getting those coordinates one way or another. Don't see why they can't be seen on the feed itself. Unless that really is just an oversight. Our jet does not have EGI. It uses coupled GPS and INS. But they aren't embedded. Usually older lots got EGI since the functionality was more critical for them to get so the whole fleet would have precision attack capability. Ours would have already had it out the gate.

And the definition of beta according to ED doesn't match industry standards of the word. So to new players the concept is inherently misleading. So misleading in fact it needs to be clarified on every store page. Beta generally Implies that there is a set time period in the future when the product will be finished. If we're going off industry standards of the word; 'Beta' DCS and all its aircraft have been in 'Beta' for upwards of 10 years at this point. Knowing that ahead of time, might stop more then a few people from participating all together because the product can be so unstable at times. So they decided to re-define the words meaning. Which enables them to essentially have no accountability to their customers, whilst still providing a relatable term that people can latch on too. So every-time we voice concern about time frames and problems they can just point to their definition of the word, and say something like; "you knew what you signed up for, and no one forced you" Changing the definition of words is a very effective tool of thought control, and legal evasion.

Forrestal has suddenly become very important
Wizard_03 replied to nicka117's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yeah that's my thing, surly 2.5.6. issues haven't stood in the way of development for the entire year the jets been out. Yet that's become the latest scapegoat to justify features missing/Developer acknowledged inaccuracies since day 1, glacial pace of updates, and the information blackout we currently have. I got lots of Flack for stating pretty much the same thing on their newsletter thread. In other words I'm not upset these fixes/corrections didn't make it into 2.5.6. I'm upset they didn't make it into ANY of the patches that came before for the last year. At some point I have to stop giving them the benefit of doubt. -
So I just bought it, and I love it. Very enjoyable to fly, I guess Arc doesn't work well, but I don't really use radio navigation aids in DCS since its the same maps over an over again. But it's wonderful to fly and fight with. No VR for me so binding everything is not really a concern for me either, I use the mouse and only ever bind whats on the flight controls themselves to my HOTAS. So far have not had any issues with those. The aircraft feels like Its basically just a set of engines with some guns and missiles slapped on it. lol

Forrestal has suddenly become very important

Sad to say, I've supported these guys from the beginning. They started out strong with the F-14 release last year, and I thought we were on track to finally brake the Multi-year endless EA cycle. But since then haven't seen them make good on any of the missing features. Let alone, simple things that have been wrong since day 1: Aim-9 Rails still aren't textured, wrong engine instruments, no OBC, and half a dozen other minor things besides showboat features stated on the store page, and their most recent newsletter. I understand bug fixing takes priority but TBH I've lost confidence in this team. The statements made by them regrading super carrier module compatibility feel like outright falsehoods, and not a single thing listed on their quarterly newsletter has been added to the game, not one thing... -

Yeah same, there seems to be a disconnect between the "news" we get, and what we actually get. Both from third parts and ED as well. -
Based on Wags update seems like 0.32177 % that it won’t be is more likely at this point. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=266705

They’re actually very desirable now considering that, in the near peer war the F-15 was designed for, Tankers are going to be shot down/unavailable, almost out of the gate. That’s why the CFTs are being reintroduced on new F-15Xs and F-15Cs that still have lots hours left on them.
-
Perhaps we'll see it introduced with the F-14A, as far as I can tell Iranian birds do not use the tanks at all, and therefore don't have the racks either.
-
A lot, the manual has a whole chapter on it.
-
Really? I was sure I read somewhere they removed them at TOP GUN or when operating from ashore. This video shows non-airshow configurations with no racks at several instances for A/B cats. Starting from 10:20 none of the jets on the flight line have them installed.
-
Absolutely, about as easy for them to hop the forums as say, “hey, all these things we said we wanted to do, well turns out we can’t just yet because xyz.” Or “these goals we set for ourselves, we didn’t hit, we’re sorry, we’ve set new ones and we’re doing the best we can.” It’s not hard it’s basic customer service. The management of expectations is their responsibility. It’s not unreasonable to ask them for that. I have no problem being patient but, the silence here and apparent lack of progress makes me question them. That being said I don’t necessarily need updates, just progress to show that they are in fact committed to delivering on all the things they stated, and that they value our support. But in leu of that I’ll take a progress update.
-
No need to get personal, I’m just mad about the lack of progress and the lack of communication about the lack of progress. I’ve got every right to be, same as you being happy with the same old Lip service from them, it’s fine if your satisfied with that, I’m not. I don’t care about their personal lives, don’t care about software development, don’t care about wearing their shoes, I only care about getting what I paid for. There’s nothing unreasonable about that. That’s the real adult world, nobody cares. I’m not asking for excuses, I’m asking to get what I paid for. I don’t mean anything to them, other then my cash, because this is a business. They do owe me something, I AM entitled to what I paid for. Simple as that.
-
That’s where I’m at, gonna take a lil break from DCS and wait till we see some progress on the things mentioned in the yearly newsletter. 2.5.6. Seems to have thrown a wrench into everything. Progress on EA modules has ground to a halt, and the core game is a mess as well. Gonna check back in when things settle down. Not mad anymore, just tired.
-
Gotcha so there’s no accountability that makes me feel much better. Lol our entire update and roadmap for delivery doesn’t matter because everything’s subject to change. Why even have updates then?? I’m in the wrong line of work TBH, I wish I could tell sh*t like that to my customers. When I miss “estimates” I usually loose money. But if and when That happens at the very least I gotta call them up and talk to them. So Where’s heatblur?
-
True, true, but still I want my favorite target completed ;)
-
So I should be happy about that. I can’t voice discontent about my expectations not being met. Expectations that THEY told me to have.
-
Yes despite all that it’s still frustrating. Absolutely agree.
-
Yeah unfortunately I have to agree.
-
Why? They said they would do something, and they haven’t. I don’t understand why you folks are happy for them about that. Explain it to me. Because the OP in this thread is about how they failed to deliver these updates last year and how they’re gonna make it up this quarter. So where are they?
-
Why does Development need to halt for 2.5.6. I want them to deliver on their roadmap, which came long before 2.5.6. I don't understand how lighting changes affect AIM-54 development, or Jester's interaction with LANTIRN. That's fine if it does, but we have no word for the Devs whatsoever. Also your telling me 2.5.6. prevents them from popping on the forums and giving us updates about the things they said they'd update us about?
-
I still miss him
-
-
So we have only one more Open Beta update not counting today (which doesn't have any F-14 fixes or additions in the change log) for this quarter. We haven't had any of the features added from the OP nor have we discussed or heard any news regarding the F-14A, or Forrestal at all. :P

Oh perfect, that's what I've been waiting for. Not broken MSI, or fixes to the Aim-120. well Good thing I only have to wait till next week to see if they finally work on it. OH Wait, now its two weeks.
