well soon you will have to look no further for a good tomcat simulation :) http://www.leatherneck-sim.com/f14/ it's the same team that made the MiG21. they're also making a map called strait of hormuz for it. As you can see that terrain should lend itself extremely well for carrier based operations. it'll be PFM/ASM level ( pro flight model/advanced systems model, so like the mig21). And it will be possible to fly together with a friend in the same plane. As for sidewinder dynamics. try shooting one at the sun :D and then shoot down that sidewinder with another one! ( don't know if the FC3 level aircraft are capable of this but it was possible in the A10C :P )

Anyone got a chart showing F15 radar cone FOV
Sryan replied to pr1malr8ge's topic in F-15C for DCS World
The radar cone is -2° to 55° in the vertical, 2,5° wide and stretches out 10nm. -
a lot of us had this, when you restart the download ( hit start, then type dcs update ) it should pick up where it left off.

it might not be the cause, but a technical thing could be that while the RWR lighted up, the A10 was not actually detected. The RWR lights up when it picks up enough energy from a radar source. that does however, not mean that enough radar rays are reflected from your aircraft for the radar source to detect you as well. Depending on conditions like attitude towards the radar and background clutter by par example NOE height flight you may be able to detect a threat by RWR almost twice the distance it takes for him to actually see you. Also please take note that a lot of calculations around AI aircraft are simplified compared to player driven ones. This may be why the AI was detected while your friend was not. try flying closer to the radar. try flying either away from the radar or towards it ( doppler radar effect. Only more modern radars are sensitive to this ). When possible, fly towards it, showing the tubine blades to the source ( the turbine blades scatter the radar waves in every direction, increasing the chance of detection, this is also why the turbines are tucked away so well on stealth aircraft ). and make sure to show a large surface, like the belly or top of the aircraft to the source.

it can carry the Gsh23L twin barrel cannonpod. stores about 150 rounds afaik.

are you sure you are using one of the trucks mentioned in the thread I linked you? also, use CTRL Z/shift Z to control the time ingame and let a considerable time pass. close to an hour. some things take an extremely long time to reload.

take a look in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=103803

The templates do not store waypoint data and the likes iirc. Templates are more for storing configurations of units like the more complex SAM batteries or historically correct unit compositions. Do you want to place several units of the same type and same waypoint rules on the map? You can select the unit you wish to clone, press the COPY ( CTRL C ) key and then hit the PASTE ( CTRL V ) key somewhere else. the placement is not perfect but easy to correct. The functions you placed on the waypoints should be copied but you might need to do a bit of adjustment on the waypoint locations.

1.5 client --> http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/beta/ it's beta. constantly updated, may be broken sometimes, hence the 1.2 is still out, as that is the latest stable. EDIT: if you wanna stay on 1.2 but you're not sure if you got the latest client. hit the START key on your keyboard and type in DCS UPDATE

1 by default yes, provided they can detect each other. You can change this with things like ROE, and setting it to like return fire when fired upon. 2: yes 3: it will not spawn untill a client enters it. 3 ( the 2nd question 3 ;) ) it will not report targets untill a player pilot "checks in". You'd have to write a script or something to get that kind of behaviour.

MISSION. so by default, you won't get your waypoint lines on the TADS

Is it possible to set a probability of a unit appearing
Sryan replied to Hoggorm's topic in Mission Editor
you're welcome and no. In the editor, condition means a rule that must be met in order for an action to take place. -
you will never run out of activations. You will always be credited a new activation 30 days after you used your last one. The activation limit is just so it doesn't get installed on god knows how many pc's by pirates. if something freaky happens in those 30 days you can always try to email support. it could be worse, looking at the industry. Always online policies, people getting kicked from the DRM server without getting their game saved or anything. it's not so bad here.

Alright, time to take away the confusion. There's an SU25A ( what people just call the SU25 around here ) that's part of the FC3 pack you bought. it's low tech on avionics, but a great plane, fast for a ground mover, agile too. it still has some basic smart capabilities including CCIP and CCRP attacks ( the bomb drops where the pipper is at, OR put the pipper on the target, then HOLD the trigger untill the plane is in the correct position where it will drop the bombs by itself ) it can also launch laser guided missiles next to an assortment of 'dumb' weapons. The SU25T is free. it's much more lump than the SU25A. slower, not as agile. That is because it's packed full of avionics. As such you'll have greater avionics. automatic pilot that can follow routes, hold altitudes and/or attitudes and even perform an automatic approach for landing, you only need to do the touch down. You also have acces to more precise munitions. Vikhr laserbeam riding anti tank missiles. TV guided bombs and Anti-radiation missiles ( missiles that will lock themselves onto radar sources ). You'll also have a TV screen in the cockpit that you can use to find targets and this also controls the laser rangerfinder and target designator. Like what I tipped you with the A10c, it's good to start simple with unguided weapons and then move on up. Still, both SU25's are CONSIDERABLY easier to fly and fight with than the A10C. They both have simplified avionics with non clickable cockpits. The SU25A is what we call a pilot's plane. You focus on flying the plane, killing targets is a matter of "putting the thing on the thing" with all weapons. The SU25T differs in that you can delegate flying tasks to the autopilot, and then spent saved time on working the avionics to fight. Both are good, and both are fun, the T is the only plane in the game right now that is capable of releasing those anti-radiation missiles I mentioned. If you can fly one of them, you can pretty much fly the other as well, bare the Shkval ( TV screen + laser system ) and autopilot functions maybe. here's a short video made by Eagle dynamics themselves about flying the SU25T. Originally intended as a showcase of DCSW 2.0 graphics technology. The plane is flying the SEAD/DEAD role ( supression/destruction of enemy air defenses, with those anti-radiation missiles I mentioned ). You can see the TV screen, not used for missions as these, and the modern hud. and here's a video from Bunyap, one of the famous youtubers around here, about a minute before he perfoms an attack with cluster munitions on a column, with the old SU25A.

Below the CDU device, mind you. not below the CDU repeater. you wanna have that one on FLT PLAN
-
are you sure that the steerpoint switch below the CDU is on flight plan mode?

Is it possible to set a probability of a unit appearing
Sryan replied to Hoggorm's topic in Mission Editor
it's closer than you think ;) maybe just a little hidden. Anyway you're welcome! -
that processor is good enough for smooth DCS gameplay. However you have to take into account that he has GTX 980 graphics card. that graphics card alone costs €520+

Is it possible to set a probability of a unit appearing
Sryan replied to Hoggorm's topic in Mission Editor
there's also a probability slider thats easier to use, but less perfect. You could add a tunguska with 50% and a shilka with 50%. That means there is also a chance both will be there, or neither. with WC's method you're getting 1 guaranteed outcome. -
You gotta watch out with that OEM version of windows 7. OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer. I don't have any expierence with it myself but as far as I understand, you're not eligble for certain types of support as that is the task of the 'equipment manufacturer' and to install it you need a OPK ( OEM preinstallation kit ) whatever that may be. Better educate yourself if you're not better off with the windows 7 retail version. I've never ran into framerate troubles with my old phenom II X6 1100T and HD6990 combo. and I don't do now with my FX8350 and R9 290. Everything maxed out. So don't let people talk you out of AMD. sure the intel stuff is great but also very pricey. that i7 4790k is €350. Also, why exactly are you buying thermal paste? there is some pre-applied so you won't need it for the first few months.

Is it possible to have AA with radar on, but not to fire?
Sryan replied to Hoggorm's topic in Mission Editor
I think there's a radar on command in the editor, but I don't know if it works for CA ADS units. Do you just want them to turn on their search radar, or really track the target? -
is that a radar on the nose of the UK gazelle? reminds me of those ww2 radars mounted on planes like the me410 and do217 :) I assume it's for aesthetic purposes only? :D

Z and X by default. but those provide full deflection and the torque aint nearly that bad. so you would oscilate between the torque-induced yaw and the correcting rudder motion. Hence to Auto-rudder was added for propellor planes.
-
If you're trying the TF-51 I'm shooting you one more tip. I saw you had a warthog stick but you didn't mention any pedals? Propellor planes have a tendency to yaw during take-off due to torque from the engine and propellor, and also to roll during flying. The realistic way to counter the yawing would be to use the rudder ofcourse, but the warthog stick can't twist. You could go into options, then special options, find the TF51 and then allow for auto-rudders, and maybe allow yourself some take-off assistance while you're there.
