Tacca's NVG mod for 2.5+
Shadow_1stVFW replied to tacca's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I seem to have stumbled upon a strange bug with this mod when using the CTLD JTAC with LASER and IR Pointer. Happened in and out of VR, and in multiple aircraft On a side note, I'm waiting on the next gen VR, when it comes out I've got no problem sending you my headset. -
Nah, it's all the same laser code. In the DMT, LST, LMAV pages all have the same code. Should go to the TPOD also.

People seem to forget that nifty little line at the beginning of every NATOPS manual which says Paraphrasing, of course.
-
From the manual: Is it the intention, or could it be, to add a bindable command and/or special option like the Hornet has? I've heard the sounds in place in the Tomcat similar to what the Viggen has. But I, personally, would prefer a bindable command as I have found the most confidence in the bind other than a sound or other cockpit indications. Adding this also directly links to the statement in the manual.

This is true. I'd just argue some sort of ban on Jester is not popular. But I'm in the camp that says it doesn't make sense to Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

Manually Tracking Moving targets with the TPOD
Shadow_1stVFW replied to Shadow_1stVFW's topic in AV-8B N/A
It's a cold start issue. If you're hot starting, point track works. -
My track was acting weird, so I made this quick video. A quick demonstration of the ability to manually track moving targets in the AV-8B with the TPOD. I AM NOT saying point track should not be fixed. I am just showing you can indeed track targets. Loadout: 4xGBU-12 2xAGM-65E 4/4 Hits GBU 12 1/2 Hits AGM-65E 4 Kills (2 hits on one T-72)

Yes, I'll record one and put it up later today. Was rushed doing the one last night anyway (dinner was already on the table) -

Track File here Mission here Trucks moving at 30kts 5/6 hits. 2/2 LMAV, 3/4 GBU 12 Really not so bad. -

CCIP to auto transition, reflected cue, AUTO Mode Practice good profiles, fly predictably and steady NRAS Option Actually look at my speed on takeoff TPOD point track on moving targets Zoom in, track manually Low Altitude Warning (LAW) Watch my altitude manually Chaff/Flare Programs Pump them out manually I mean, I can go on. But there are plenty. Nice to have != necessary This module != complete - I just live with it. Also, it's not an analogy, it's literally something US Marines say... It's kind of a way of life. Just like the book reads. My radio is broken, guess I'll use this backup instead -
EDIT: This isn't me, btw it's actually Nealius's video
-
I mean, when you think about it that way, the more decimal places you're concerned about is only going to move you a couple meters across the ground, if you're 10+ miles out, especially with a variable zoom TPOD, it's literally a rounding error. Hahaha, flying is literally like 60% rough (and I mean ROUGH) math. Boil it down as simple as you can.

Something I haven't seen mentioned here as food for thought The A-10 is significantly slower than the Harrier in this flight regiment, and usually it's flying lower, both of which equals a lower rate of change while on a dive bomb profile. This lower rate of change means the symbol is moving slower across the ground which, can lead to move accuracy when diving (this is also a reason to choose different dive angle profiles). The Hornet, while loaded with stores, is arguably faster. But it is most definitely most stable as the speed increases into the transonic range in the dive, which again can lead to more accuracy as the jet isn't bouncing around as much. Combined with the added symbology in the Hornet. It is easier to anticipate the correct time to drop. All that said, it is very possible to be very accurate in this aircraft, it's just you need to rely on the basics as the niceties of the software designed to make it easier are not yet implemented. I suspect one of the things that may bother some people about the aircraft as it is currently implemented is not being able to rely on the things that makes life easier, which is understandably annoying. But I like focusing on the basics, so it doesn't really bother me that much. The way I see it, if you can be accurate/deadly without the aids, you'll be that much better with them. But that's just like, my opinion, man.

I just kind of spitball it. .1 is 6' .2 is 12' .25 is 15' .5 is 30' .75 is 45' and so on. It'll get you close enough. You are using the TPOD or DMT so with FLIR you should be able to find what you're looking for.

This personifies the our modos "Adapt and overcome" and "more with less" and "Semper Gumby" (roughly translated to always flexible) -
You're tanker should be at 275 indicated. You'll have to do some tweaking to get the right speed. But at around 20,000 feet you're looking at around 390 knots, it all depends on the conditions in your mission though. But that should help you out a bit. The Pegasus, and by extention the Harrier does EXTREMELY well in the low altitude region, the thrust that engine puts out is actually quite remarkable. But as others have said, when you start to climb in this jet, especially while loaded with ordinance, you'll start to see a big drop off in performance climbing above ~12,000. I fly it a lot in Normandy, usually hitting a tanker after leaving Lessay, most of my transits are around 15,000 (unless I need to avoid SAM threats) and I try to work targets around 10-14,000 to make use of the engine. I will usually weigh around 28-30K at takeoff but with no TERs, so single store per pylon to save on some of the drag. It's a bit of a funny jet in terms of performance, but flight it in the right part of the sky, it's not slow. Take it too high, and well yeah, the drag catches up with you quick.

This is it. This is all you need to know. Just chill, and everyone is happy.
-
Practice practice practice. When I noticed myself getting complacent I go out and plink BTRs with single MK-81s. Really makes you focus and be accurate. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

Serious question, though it may seem sarcastic at first. But did you turn it off and back on between targets? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk -
It missed the main update and was pushed with the hotfix.
