Ahh ok cool, thank you, I run in 3440x1440 and really can't set to any other res with this wide screen, 100fps seems nice n smooth but I'm not sure why the counter never gets over 100 even when I set gpu s/w to o/c mode. Anyway, I'll stop now as your right this is wrong forum. Cheers mate

Hey Buzz, yea sorry I shouldda popped this post in the PC hardware and related software. And I meant about looking great now as compared to what I've been used to for nearly the last year (home theatre and laptop) now no comparison with my new build. And the fps, yes I read some ones post the other day saying DCS is set to 180 fps, I'll try and dig it up and show you, I'm not sure what that person meant. I don't think I have had any higher fps than 100 or so, maybe there's something I need to do re: gpu software or something. Anyway I just flew the 3rd mission in the Red Flag Camp and it's quite amazing the difference good specs makes. How do you achieve 200fps? Ok, third last post in this thread... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=192451

Hey good Pilots! Just installed 1.5.7 on my new build with some concern about what it was going to be like with all the reports of bugs and faults but still having two training missions I purchased I really needed to get back, and boy oh boy I'm so glad I did, it's absolutely beautiful! I'm just astounded atm and even better it looks like the ED Devs fixed Georgian Hammer with CA so I'm totally dancin! I flew 2.0 for a week or so and now comparing the two I'm finding I'm getting a fractionally smoother framerate in 1.5, maybe because I'm still tweaking. It's actually not easy to find the perfect setting at first but I'm nearly there and 1.5 I can nearly max everything out but no way in 2.0 even with my specs. I wish to ask a question, I saw a post not long ago where someone said that DCS has a framerate by default set to 180 and so your GPU could spike, so would be advised to set it to around 80, well I set mine to 100 and I couldn't really notice the difference in 2.0 and I can set my GPU to various settings with it's software incl overclocking but this overclocking in GPU Tweak software is not the same as CPU overclocking is it? I was told my CPU could be overclocked to 4.8 Ghz. Anyway I'm not even sure about why we need to overclock, wouldn't that induce more heat and shorter life span of components? Cheers G

34'' Ultra Wide Monitors curved or not curved
GazAce replied to Basco1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Congrats RF, that's awesome! your so going to love it! -
New build and still tweaking I just finished a new build and still trying to get a smooth rate in DCS Open Alpha and I nearly got it with settings very close to what you described above firmek but it's just not quite perfect yet. That whole Nevada map is pretty impressive but I'm still getting used to it after flying the Caucuses for nearly a year. And I haven't d'loaded 1.5 back in yet as I'm thinking it's too buggy after the last update and I've still got some training Campaigns I purchased and need to start so I'm hoping the Devs fix things up soon there. And yep deffered shading sure makes a big difference but I didn't know about the antialiasing off so I'll def give that a try and any tips or advice regarding getting good results out of my new rig, I'm all ears, all welcome. Thanks for posting the tips. Cheers G https://forums.eagle.ru/album.php?albumid=1412

Helmet Mounted Displays are a reality on the A-10C

Hehe yea was a a bit a of a step ahead of what I was looking at for sure but actually better value for $ than that other unit and MSY were great, very helpful and understanding of my needs. And yep when I asked about a Monitor and he brought out this big box and well I checked out it's specs, I was there, my credit card was there.. end of story lol Yea I 've been hearing a lot about this OC caper and I guess I'll give it a whirl sometime for sure but for now she runs pretty smooth. I used a intel Thermal Solution TS15A specifically for LGA 1151 socket, 4 Pin PWM Fan Control and has the cooling paste already applied and was a breeze to click in over the CPU, 3 year Warranty.
-
Thanks BitMaster, the GPU software has a few settings incl an OC feature, I've been tempted but haven't done much to warrant that yet.
-
I used a Thermaltake Toughpower Series 750W 80Plus Gold 140mm ultra quiet fan which I placed facing down over the case's vent and dust tray, psu comes with mod flat cables and 5 year warranty. It's a pretty good one.

34'' Ultra Wide Monitors curved or not curved
GazAce replied to Basco1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hey Basco1, I just bought one with my first build and like yourself I too was thinking about a matrix setup but now I'm so happy with my new screen, it really is beautiful and a great 100Hz refresh. I have a few pics of it in my album here, trust me once you get one of these screens, you'll never look back man and after a little while you don't even novice the curve. Mine is 34" ultra wide and yea it virtually cost me half what I paid for the build in total but it was so worth it and for me prob still cheaper than a three screen setup. Anyway, that's my personal opinion, they truly are a magnificent panel and would compliment and enhance any good rig especially what we use them for. Cheers mate, G  -
Thank you kindly Shonist, I'm pretty thrilled and still discovering how really beautiful this rig is.

Cheers mate, appreciate that man

Hey good Pilots! Well, I'm pretty excited, actually no.. I'm totally wettin my pants excited! I just finished my first build and actually my first ever desktop. So thank you kindly to all for the tips and advice regarding and leading up to this little project. I want to pesonally thank Harp0 here in DCS who gave me some very helpful tips and also a few UTube tuorials helped too but I especially want to give a massive shout out and beers at the bar for fellow DCS Pilot Gierasimov who without his tireless expertise, computer wizardry and patience I couldn't have got this done in the week it took me, hours Skype chatting and myself sending him pics of weird lookin cables and what not. And also I gained a good Polish friend with a connection (as my dear Mum was Polish ) Mate, thankyou so much, your beyond awesome! And I can't believe what I've been missing out on these last 12 months as in the way of gameplay, graphics and sheer seamless beautiful rendering. Now I understand what you guys mean in relation to immersion, framerates and stuff like that. I was driving a beat up VW for a year and now just jumped into this years model Porsche and it feels incredible and worth every penny I put away for. I did my home work on the specs and it paid off and now after a week or two of tweaking my Hog flys like a dream with my settings maxed and the smoothness is unbeliavable, the NTTR map is quite jaw dropping and hopefully will get even better. I'm still blown away by it all. I left some pics of my new build and screen shots for your perusal and comments, I guess I'm showin off a bit but hey I'm still excited and anyway the gf just rolls her eyes, so I got to show someone right? And it's not just all pretty lights either, it's got some serious grunt under that hood and for those of you who are contemplating a build using the Corsair 570X glass case, man go for it! this case is beautiful, the pics don't do it justice and a little tip if your going to add extra fans as I did as an extractor at the back.. please only use the RGB fans with SP as the prefix name and not the HD ones because they're not compatable with the on board RGB fans in the case. So anyway, if you like, let me know what you think and any tips are very welcome. I purchased all the components on a 3 day sale that this little PC outlet called MSY in my area was having, although I did splurge on the screen but they were letting that go on sale as well so I thought why not, sick of using the home theatre and tv, was time to get serious. Well that's me up to now. Sorry for rambling, time to get flying with my Bates 9000 ( actually he's called HAL-2 ) Take care, stay safe. Cheers G  https://forums.eagle.ru/album.php?albumid=1412

Now that looks awesome but does this mean I'll have to wait a bit longer before poor ole Georgian Hammer with CA campaign can be fixed? Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

A while ago I completed the Operation Piercing Fury campaign and one of my wingmen through all of that campaign was a woman and I thought it was pretty cool actually and it added a little diversity, made it interesting. A female air traffic controller? Bring it on, mixes it up and anyway I like a womans voice. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

Wow ms your so going to love it, I got mine as a two in one box package deal about 9 months ago. It's a beautiful piece of equipment and really well made too being quite heavy and solid construction. I had one minor fault after a few mths with the hat top switch not making a proper connection and the guy in the store kindly replaced the complete whole stick incl the base plate. I said you guys will get a replacement yea? And he said no TM don't replace them, they just refund and have it sent back, not sure what he's going to do with a throttle on its own tho. Anyway they're so awesome. I was battling with a crappy saitech $50 Joystick for ages until I saw these. The controls and switches are so perfectly placed and like the guys said, it's plug n play and your good to go and you can tailor buttons and switches to your liking. I use the big flapper at the front of the stick for zooming in and the little nose wheel steering button to zoom out and I also mapped the left throttle button for auto pilot and the slew control button I push for centre view. The big INCR and DECR lever type throttle friction to the right of my throttle doesn't do anything on mine but the wheel at the top does increase and decrease throttle friction. And there are a few switches which don't really do anything like L and R Fuel Norm to Override and the L and R Eng Oper IGN and MOTOR but thanks Kyle for that night vision tip, I'll be slaving that asap. Anyway ms, you won't regret buying it, it's a remarkable piece of equipment especially catered or should I say replicated for the A-10C that'll give you years of enjoyment, nice one man!

Could this build run a 3 screen matrix set up?
GazAce replied to GazAce's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
All good Sryan and thank you for posting that man, I appreciate it and I'm sorry for snapping as well. Down here in Auz we say "no worries mate" kinda means all cool. I'm really just an average dude, a little out there perhaps with a colourful past but now just your everyday 56 year old slightly bohemian public servant who rents. This is my first build and it's stressed me out a tad as I don't know enough about it. Anyway without holding hands an singing Kum Bai Ya, I thank you and others for offering tips. The next post I pop up about it will be a pic of it and no it won't be the Bates 10000 but hopefully something just as nice and for something completely different I just got tix for me and my gurl to see Dweezil Zapp next Feb so I'm happy as a pig in mud atm. Take care, stay safe. Peace G  P.S It says your a campaign tester, I don't suppose you've got any pull in regards to getting DCS Campaigns mended perhaps? I love Georgian Hammer with CA but alas only 9 out of the 32 missions fail to launch without crash to Win. Wrote in to ED and after several ping pong emails said he'd let the Devs know but not sure how long it would take as they're very busy and that was a few weeks ago and he closed the Ticket. I got a about 10 missions I think off Mad-Dog who copied them way before this problem so that was great of him. Anyway if you know of anyone or anything you could do to speed up the repair, that'd be awesome. Cheers again G :) -
Could this build run a 3 screen matrix set up?
GazAce replied to GazAce's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Geez I shouldn't have asked but thanks Fee I appreciate those tips and I'll def check out Newegg but not sure they're here in Auz and that's vid is gold but seriously Sryan?? "Money seems not as much an issue to you as it is to most of us" like wt@!s with the personal crap man? As I clearly stated I was only throwin this around as an idea and I'm not going to go out tomorrow and buy this gear. My budget is 3k, big deal, it doesn't mean I'm wanting spend that. I was only checking things out, I love a bargain as much as the next guy and I saw builds on that site for 4, 5 and even 8k. Look, all I'm after is a system that will support a 3 screen set up and last me a few years without having to upgrade. Thanks anyway but I def won't bring this issue up again, I don't like painting a target on my back. -
Hey amigo, I remember flying that mission about 9 months ago and I stalled and crashed so many times was ridiculous and I also raised the very same concern your having. I also changed and lightened the load out but she still flew like an anvil, I could barely get above 200kts. I did manage to finish it tho but used auto targeting as I was only startin out in the A-10C. It's a tuffy and long too I remember yea. I'm pretty sure you have one or two wingmen? If so, get them to do all the dirty work ahead of you, always helps.

Hey good Pilots, just wondering if this build would be adequate to fire up 3 x 34" screens as a matrix set up specifically for DCS and do the panels need to be curved? These specs for this build I knocked up at work and just tossing things around atm but the more I read and watch utube vids on this dyi computer the more I'm liking. Any suggestions or tips most welcome. Cheers G  https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/GazAce/saved/JYymGX

Phew! That's a relief, all this time I thought it was me :)

Ohh that's great, I love usin my UFC. I kinda figured out the other way or rather stumbled my way via my TGP and yes it's OSB10 but only if my CDU Rotary dials are in the correct pos you know, anyway thanks a bunch man, appreciate that and I'll be trying the UFC method when I get in tonight. And would you know or have you heard if any issues relating to changing weapon profiles via your DSMS, it seems every time I try and change my CBUs or GBUs from CCIP to CCRP I have to keep repeating the steps even after saving the profile and it's when I'm at the end of my Ramp Start and I checked all other systems are fine and finished the BIT, I'm stumped.
-
Yea totally, I just saw the others and it's amazing the amount of input he has dedicated, truly awesome. And Eureka! I just discovered what I was doing wrong re: setting up manual Waypoint step at Ramp Start, if anyone is interested or getting that blank screen like I was, what you do is leave the 'Page' rotary dial in the 'Other' position after you load the data to your cartridge then when it's loaded select 'FPM' on your CDU and change it to manual (top left arrow) then go 'PREV' and the TGP goes back to the prev screen waiting for your NAV to set, anyway phew! that was doin my head in lol
