That may indicate an error (syntax?) in the file. Server.lua in SavedGames folder works fine for Ka-50.

fixed MiG-15bis control problems due to wind
firmek replied to zerO_crash's topic in Bugs and Problems
Just noticed the same. As far as the aircraft is moving the controls are ok. When stationary the stick starts to shake aswell it's movement gets locked, usually in one quadrant. For example: 1. joystick right -> stick/axis right 2. joystick left -> stick/axis right 3. joystick up -> stick/axis down 4. joystick down - stick/axis down This bug is consistent, happens every time regardless if the plane is started cold, hot or even on the runway. As soon as the plane starts to move everything gets back to normal but when stopped the bug comes back again. I would say it's quite serious. I've spend a lot of time trying to figure out whats wrong and checking if my joystick is not broken until just by accident I've noticed that everything is fine when the plane starts to move. -
IMO the chances that this is a hardware issue are close to 0%. Simply, for most of the people it has been working before the update and I guess people didn't massivelly change the hardware at the same time that update to 2.0x came out :) It must be something related to the software - GPU drivers (version), VC++ redistributable, something screwed with the update, etc...

It's not exactly that trainers are a bad thing. After getting the L-39 I've totally changed my mind about them. Some are a great planes but well, if the question is T-2 or A-7 first the answer is quite obvious: A-7 all the way! That's really narrow way of thinking. There are a lot of other people that would love the get MiG-19 or any other "vintage" aircraft. I'm quite sure that anything from list of: MiG-17, MiG-19, MiG-23, Su-17/22, Su-24, Su25, F-4 would trigger a hype train, probably even a bigger one than another early 4'th gen fither (unless it's a MiG-29). I would even say an opposite. After Normandy, DCS should focus on Korea (1-st gen jets) and then Vietnam (2-nd, early 3-rd gen jets) to build a base of assets in consistant way. Focusing on 4'th gen first is like starting to build a house from the roof.

Just to link the bug reports, the problem with INS alignment not working correctly is also reported here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=178914

Do you have both 2.0 and 1.5 on both PC's? Both 2.0 are updated to the latest version?
-
Yes, but as I understood the point was about the content shipped with the module and in case of the warbirds and in terms of the campaigns it is rather slim. The stock campaign is more of an extended, practical tutorial. It's still worth to fly and it is good that it's included but it's far from the level from other campaigns. As for the MP servers, most of them are dogfight servers - which probably steams from the lack of assests from the era. By the way, is the P-51D DLC campaign an interesting one?

Another point that is a good illustration about DCS at the moment. Some time ago I was mostly flying A-10C and wishing for much more aircrafts. Now there are still planes that are an instant buy for me but at the same time I have already so many modules that I could only wish more time to be able to properly learn them in all of the details. This might actually be a challenge for ED in the future - with more modules coming people will shift probably more from getting every module more towards picking a selected aircrafts. I would love to support every developer but I have to admit that probably I'll have to skip a few future modules, including some that are now in development as I already have few planes that are only sitting on display in the hangar. Anyway, going back to the topic A-7 is an instant buy for me :)

C'mon. It's hard not to notice the great progress DCS has made through the years and how much the DCS has grew over that time. Yes, the modules do take more than quite often originally announced but looking on DCS we really are lucky to have a possibility to experience a great sim. This was hard to imagine 5 years ago when the sims were rather perceived as a niche and even foreseen as a dying market. Besides, still more is going to come and that's actually a great thing that the 3'rd party devs got an experience which creates a much bigger momentum and development potential for DCS than it was few years back. DCS has come a long way, from quite a niche and often startup like environment to a leader with solid foundations for the future. We really should appreciate all the hard work ED and 3’rd party devs are doing and ease up a bit on more frequent “I’m a customer I demand approach” especially that it’s not exactly an easy market.

Well, then you don't have much of options in DCS at the moment. Another module from this era will be MiG-19 by RAZBAM. Really, the MiG-21 is great. I think the best single word that was found in this thread describing it is that it feels "alive". Personally I could say that MiG-21 is one of those few modules which causes a smile on my face every time I come back to it after a break. I don't know what are the criteria for judging that but MiG-21 bis is one of planes for which I've got a real manual. Actually in my native langague. It did match quite well with what is implemented in the module. There are a few discripancies but at the same time they are known and confirmed by MM3 as planned to be fixed. What you're waiting for then  It does look great. Even standing still on the ground it looks like going supersonic. Con: MiG-21 was used all arround the word. Plus it's good to have a different look to see if other tehnologies are so good as they are advertised. I can tell you that I can also read Cyrillic, thoug it hasn't been exactly my choise to learn it soo you could imagine that I generally also prefer to see the USSR stuff in my gunsight. But thinking this way lacks perspective. Don't limit yourself. You'll loose oportunity to experience such great modules as MiG-15bis, MiG-21bis, Mi-8 and L-39. Please correct me if I'm wrong - silly but I can't tell from my memory but the module comes with english cockpit. If not for sure there are mods arround. The amount of switches can be intimidating at first but actually the cockpit is outlined in logical way and quite easy to learn. It's as much applicable as F5. The challange is the overall DCS environment and most MP server setup putting MiG-21 side by side with F-15. Being serious, if you look from it's native times: - it's all weather and night flight capable - you'll have a lot of great time and fun learning the navigation in it. It's much more capable in this aspect than F5. - it has a BVR capability as also capability to engage from the front aspect - first eastern 3'rd gen jet. - though it hasn't been designed for this role it has quite good air to ground capabilities. It can be equipped in quite a big variaty of air to ground ordinance - "bis" variant has onboard guns - it has a nuke Shortly, without going into discussion about flight performance etc, just feature and potentiall whise MiG-21 bis beats F-5E heads down. Don't take it as a point of "pride". It just means that in DCS you can get more time doing different things with it. I fully get you as I initially had the same approach. On the other hand it's only a game and those few eastern block modules that we have are among the best! After all, flying a soviet made equipment in a video game doesn't make you a communist :)

Good point. Great to hear that the problem is fixed but does it mean we're going to get it in the next update or is there any temporary workaround that everyone could do on it's own.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
firmek replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Great picture but you draw a totally opposite conclusions: 1. BLUE gets the F-15, star-fighter missile truck with uber radar, which can just spam opposition with missiles without a need to manage systems whatsoever. First thing that only blue can bring to the table. 2. Su-27 and 27R can only eat chaffs. Generally the Su-27 is close to being useless at the moment. So a big minues for RED. 3. Red could get the ET. It is after all a real thing that would be used in a real scenario. But no, for a sake of gaming balancing lets remove it. First example when distinctive feature is removed from red to make it easier for blue. 4. Blue gets the A-10 which obviously is extremely capable striker. Su-25T is good but A-10C it's just better especially that it comes with a full systems modeling 5. Su-25T distinctive feature is that it can do a DEAD. Hold on - it has a distinctive feature - it can't be red only then, blue needs to get it. Please spare comments that Georgia has it. First Georgia has as much as 11 of Su-25 where actually 6 are upgraded. This doesn't matter anyway as a real usage is something that BF takes into consideration on the bottom of the priority list. 6. Transport helicopters - At least the Mi-8 is fast and can deliver final punch to the airport when AA defenses are gone. Wait.. did I just write that its a bit better in BF application then Huey, no it has to be on both sides then. Again, red can't get even a slightest advantage. Yes the Mi-8 serves generally everywhere but again at least for BF it could be a red distinctive to give this 0,1% of something better. 7. Ok then, the Ka-50, now this one is red only and actually can deliver a punch that blue don't have a counterpart for. Can't be this way, lets give Gazelle ability to transport troops and spam call the bombers! Yeap, another red distinctive feature obliterated in a spectacular way. Now its "fair" as blue has a platform that can take a whole AB on its own!. Take mortar squad, call bombers, drop mortar and kill remaining things. Ka-50 in good hands can deal a lot of damage but come on, it's not able to capture a target on its own. And then coming back to point no 1 - try to go higher than 5-8 meters above the ground in Ka-50 = missile from F-15 to your face. 8. MiG-21 vs F-5 - the second at least has a working RWR which makes a big difference when flying in a sky full of modern jets. MiG-21 can use radar to lock targets, but hell yea - turn your radar on = missile from F-15 to your face. 9. Red has the M2kC and Viggen but the only reason for it was to bring people to the other side, not to give any advantage. 10. Eastern block generally has more and better air defenses in terms of SAM systems. Nope, both sides have to have the same. Sorry but the complains about red having an advantages are just ridiculous. Blue gets a higher numbers, better and actually working equipment while all distinctive features that red would have in real scenario are either just disabled or mitigated buy giving them also to blue. On the other blue keeps the advantages only for their side. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some red fanatic. When I play BF I generally switch between teams for different rounds. But the complains that blue is in a disadvantage compared to red team is just absolutely crazy. Aside of everything above. DCS should be about a simulation after all, which in reality will always have an asymmetry. All of this gaming balancing is just hurting the experience. It still has to be reasonable so that both sides have chances (that is again not a exactly given by default in real word) but it doesn't mean that it has to be purely just gaming balancing that brings the DCS closer to the Battlefield than simulation. -
I have the same issue. At mission start the aircraft is always rotated North, regardless if it's started cold or hot on parking and even when on the runway. To be more specific however, the plane initially spawns aligned correctly on the briefing screen. After hitting the "fly" button it's immediately rotated to the North. Interesting is that when spawning on the airport the fuel doesn't always get empty. Another thing is that altimeter and speed indicator are also not working. Ive tried to run a repair but ground crew acknowledges the request but does nothing. As for the air start I didn't manage to get a single successful one. In all cases the fuel was empty. Apart of that the low engine oil pressure and radar altitude warning lights are lit up already on the briefing screen. I've checked all of the modules which I have. Only L-39 has this problem. I don't see why the problem should be connected with Windows 10. I'm running DCS since the release of Windows 10 and never had a problem like this one.

What aircraft are you going to be flying in normandy and why ?
firmek replied to silenteye's topic in DCS: Normandy 1944
Well, without going to the details I guess we should be happy and grateful that the history turned out the way it did and Nazis lost the war ;) -
That was also my understanding. Basically NTTR obviously is using desert textures which makes the targets stand out more from the ground compared to Caucasus. Anyway, once Normandy is out we'll have some good indication if spotting targets is easier. Though I wouldn't expect a proper FLIR yet.

The unit will transmit on the frequeny assigned to it. If the unit doesn't have the active frequency property in the mission editor, the frequency can be set using the advanced waypoint actions (IIRC perform command, set frequency). The other thing is even if you set a text for the message you still need to attach a sound file - transmit messate will not work otherwise! The sound file doesn't have to actually include any audio - it can be just a one second muted recording.
-
Since we're discussing targetting the Rb-75, the vertical slew control for missile and radar are inverted. Is it something wrong with my install or is it just an early access bug or one of those things as mentioned that Saab did their own way?

"sooo"... was it really worth to clutter just freshly created forum sub-section with a thread related to questions that has been clearly already answered before? +1.

There are a few exceptions but generally every full fidelity aircraft has it's own separate bindings list. If you want to clear all binding for all of your aircrafts delete the content of the input folder in the DCS user settings folders. I would have to check which exactly folder it is but if I recall correctly its in user saved games, DCS.openbeta (or DCS.openalpha for 2.0.x), and then config\input. This way you can also delete a folder only for a specific module which will erase all of your bindings for it. By the way, you can also make backups and restore your settings or even (may be risky) copy them from 1.5.x to 2.0.x thus saving some time on having to reconfigure bindings for the module from scratch. I think if you do clear without selecting a category it'll clear everything apart of axis. Well, at least everything for a selected controller. If a category is selected it'll clear only a bindings from selected cateogry.

Anyone upgrade from 27" to 34" monitor?
firmek replied to PabstBleuRibbon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Great choice. I was considering PG348Q but got Acer X34 instead, mostly due to ascethics and more stable stand. Other then that both are generally the same quality panels. You'll love it! It's a beast! Apart of the size the first most positive impression was the crystal clear image. Make sure to connect it with display port cable, set the max refresh rate and enable the g-sync. Yeap, it's really one of those things that you don't appreciate if you don't try it. After using g-sync monitor there is no going back. I had drivers auto-update screwing g-sync - I've noticed that something is wrong just imediatelly, the screen tearing was ruining the whole impression. -
1. As mentioned, don't buy a laptop. Apart of worse performance you'll really appreciate a proper monitor when playing DCS. The bigger the better as spotting targets in DCS is not an easy thing. But then a good monitor is a topic on its own. IMO don't get anything less then 27'' but don't go for 4K without a high end graphics card. 2. GPU is the priority, GTX 1060 should be minimum and better the GTX 1070. It's quite a big step from 1060 to 1070, noticably more then from 1070 to 1080. 1070 is probably the best value for monay at the moment. 3. 16 GB RAM at minimum 4. CPU, save on the i7, get i5 and put the savings into better GPU. Don't get a K version if you're not going to overclock it. Don't assume that you'll overlock a CPU without any experience just by reading some quick tutorials. 5. SSD is nice but if I would have to choose between better GPU and SSD i would again recomend to get a better GPU. Nowadays however, at least the operating system should be run from SSD drive.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
firmek replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Had the same situation just recently on BF server. I was in M2000C going after A10-C. Interesting is that when I was approaching him everything was fine, he was flying steady and smoothly even being locked in TWS. Once I've got close and fired fox 2 on him, he started to teleport all over the place. Obviously the missile missed. Then I've went for a guns but after making bunch of holes in the air trying to hit a bunny hopping A-10 teleporting all over the place, when I was about to gave up the guy disconnected. I'm not saying that A-10 was deliberately cheating as I don't have any prove for that but it was extremely comfortable coincidence for him to start teleporting exactly at the time as I've got close to him. Anyway, I'm quite sure ED is also aware about the problem. Dedicated servers may help but are rather addressing symptoms by putting more steam to the hardware rather than addressing the core issue. IRC, DCS already can be run on servers with graphics engine disabled. The main problem is the overall optimization topic of the code in DCS and not only the net code but also the internal engine. Note also that BF is heavily scripted and scripting language by their nature are a performance disaster. -
I did a short test at 10000 m - fuel regulator AUTO: RPM 80%, EPR 1,6 - fuel regulator MANUAL: RPM ~92%, EPR, 2,4 As mentioned, in AUTO mode it's not possible to maintain a level flight at that altitude, nor actually get to it without using AB. Really guessing right now but maybe the switch works in reverse way and modes are replaced.
