  1. Thank you for your advice Cibit, I will most certainly try this out in both UH-1 and Mi-8 next time I fly them and post the results.
  2. (Copypasta of the text in the Mi-8 post) Hello there! I have been recently picking up (pun intended) sling loading, which is by far one of the hardest things to do in DCS, and I was wondering if any of you more hardened veterans had any tips and hints for me on how to handle this complex method in the Huey so I can stop getting the occasional 'cable snapped!' alerts. Thanks in advance and here is a sexy screenshot for you to enjoy! (The FPS is usually better, I swear!)

  4. Gliders use them as slip indicators, we don't use the ball :> src: google
  5. Heyo Cibit, they already started running in fear from me ages ago :> OT: Looking forward to this!
  6. I knew the hammerhead was possible, that loop though! I've got to try that tonight.
  7. That poor Viggen is not fat, she is big boned!!
  8. Here's our fix, now we're able to survive the next 17 days!
  9. Determining to go up with full or clipped wings is easy, just ask yourself: Will there be 190s? If yes, go get 'em!
  10. Been flying her for over a year now, still don't know how to use the autopilot/navigation systems. But who cares?! You have a big bird with boom booms and zrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrts!
  11. It may kill your PC when the model / textures load in, but once that's done she's smooth as baby bottoms :) For the controls, everything can be ninded, but it's more complex than an FC3 kite so you will need more binds!!
  12. I can't find BASIS anymore
  13. The camouflaged VVS skin always gets me, it looks so good.
  14. Mi-8: big helo, muoy analog, very russian, flies like a dream albeit heavier, bigger and stronger than the Huey, it can carry up to 6 20 rocket pods (various warheads), bombs on the inner hsrdpoints, 23mm cannon pods or pods with 2x7.62mm and 1x12.7mm (or is it 14.5mm?) per pods on the middle pylons and 30mm rapid fire grenade launchers on the outer pods. It can sling load and is a fun helo to fly! The A-10 is a different kind of joy! Robust, low-and-slow mean lean ground killer. The cockpit is a mix of old analog and new digital systems. It has a 30mm BRRRRT! Tank-eater cannon, AGM-65 maverick guided missiles, unguided rocket pods, and an array of laser guided, gps guided an unguided boms, a variery of pods and self defense AIM-9s, if you want to get close with tanks or blow them up from afar this one is great. I hope my objective and brief summaries helped you decide, feel free to contact me if you have questions!
  15. Isn't the gun solution radar one built in the sight that works seperately and automatically locks if the target is in the sight?
  16. The gunsight has a different radar from the big green screen, pthe big one is just to lead you to a target without any weapons involved whereas the one in your gunsight calculates gun lead / perfect firing range.
  17. Length: 38 ft 10 in (11.84 m) Wingspan: 50 ft 0¼ in (15.25 m) Height: 15 ft 8¼ in (4.78 m) Wing area: 400.3 ft² (37.19 m²) Empty weight: 11,968 lb (5,429 kg) Loaded weight: 18,106 lb (8,213 kg) Max. takeoff weight: 25,000 lb (11,340 kg) It carries twice it's empty weight in fuel and weapons :)
  18. Why thank you!
  19. The music reminded me of Hotline Miami, awesome!
  20. I am deeply enjoying this mod and the prettiness it brings, great for helicopter pilots who like to take it low.
  21. Hi there Cibit, As seen on the pictures above even F-15s have tail hooks, this is due to the fact that the USAF requires their fighters to have one as an emergency measure or (if I am correct) for testing the afterburner without the F-15 rolling away on it's merry way. The USAF aircraft with tail hooks (F-15s, F-5s, etc etc) are however not designed for carrier operations and as such are not made to withstand the forces of a carrier landing, if you do try to land atop the Nimitz in your F-5 you will bork up your landing gear in a way that it will likely be stuck and bent, trust me, I have tried. :pilotfly: Sadly, however, you can not use the tail hook in DCS, it will go down but it is not scripted to interact with the cables on the carries that are in the game, as far as I know the Su-33 is the only aircarft you can fly in the game with an arrestor hook that can interact with the cables, this means that if you try to land your F-5 on the Nimitz, even if it does hit the wire, the wire will act like the tail hook does not exist and you'll end up doing a go-around with a borked up stuck-down gear. Happy flying! Edit: If you want to roll even faster, there is an aeleron limiter on your F-5 which is automatically on to prevent you from rolling like a mad-man, there is however a control option that you can hold down to turn this limiter off, allowing you to roll even faster just in case you need to.
