I thought it was a penalty in the look down like irl, i would thought that wouldn't be the case in the look uo as there is no noise in the sky as there is no terrain. So currently its better to be on the same level as the Foe ?

Trimming the Aircraft with Targeting Pod Mounted
cmbaviator replied to brucewhf's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Besides, if theFBW maintians your current Bank angle, after firing a missile, why would it let the plane roll, ie changing the bank. As far as I know the C* law which basically what the F16 is based on and that airbus used 80% of that law to implement on their 320s, you order a roll rate when moving the stick, when stick is neutral, you are ordring a roll rate of 0°/s, therefore maintainng the current bank angle as long as its in the fligth enveloppe. I wonder why its not the same in the F16, why the FBW would not move accordingly the flight control surfaces to maintain that 0°/s roll rate, ie keeping the current bank angle after firing a missile or bombs ? -

Even the old M2000C, will auto tri i role after firing a missile, it stays level perfectly. in the F16, you cant trim perfectly in roll because even one bip in roll trim is a huge trim modification so it will either roll right or less over time. In the jeff, you can pinpoint more accurately your roll trim Yes but FBW is there for that well for the french planes at least. Even in a very old 2000c, the plane flies perfectly level after firing a missile, you dont need any roll trimming to do and its the same thing with the modern rafale. I would guess the C* law of the F16 would compensate for that but they didn't bother doing so in the F16 for a reason -

Just Dump your external tank before landing

Hello, I don't know if its me but i don't understand why when below 20/30Nm, i can't bug a target after at least 10+ seconds. Even if I'm a DCS noob, i often get killed in BVR because the ennemy is able to lock and fire me way earlier than i'm able to. In the video below at 1:02, it took 30s to get a soft lock on that target and i wasnt even looking down, it took 30s!!!! to soft lock an aircraft around 30Nm and below ? I talked on the 4YA server and some players told me that the F16 has lately that issue, ie taking to much time to soft lock a target ? is it the same in TWS mode ? Granted that target was slightly in a notch position, but given the low range, shouldn't I be able to TWS him earlier ?
-
Thanks i'll have a look. But i only play on PvP, seems easier to splash AI at long range seeing how badly they defend. I can get BVR kills on the 4YA PvP server but tried on GS server and never got a BVR kill so far, the few kills I got was in WVR

yes indeed, in a civil aircraft, for terrain avoidance, if you want the max climb angle, you will generally climb at a lower speed and your vertical speed could be lower than normal
-
they are quite similar i would guess, if your vertical speed is 20K/min, the climb angle must be very important.
-
;that seems like a good compromise
-
for me if you want to be fuel efficient during the climb, is to climb at MIL power which the max climb angle so that you can reach cruise altitude faster
-
whats the drag index ? So i want to climb to FL 200 with the least fuel during the climb, what speed/mach should i use ?

Very hard to splash helicopter with SD10 and PL5
cmbaviator replied to cmbaviator's topic in JF-17 Thunder
Thats weird lol. Doesnt the NEZ take into account the Closure rate, therefore your speed but the Heli speed as well ?. I always set the tgt size ti small to that it goes pitbull at the last moment -
i see thanks. However i find that it may be more efficient to loft when you are way below the ennemy. indeed if you on the same level as your ennemy or slight my below, if you loft +15 / +20°, and the ennemy will most of the time, to straight to the deck so even if the missile goes in thinner air, it would have to travel more to reach the target

manual Chaff anf flare counter measures Dispense
cmbaviator replied to cmbaviator's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I see thanks. I found this : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/fr/files/3311151/ but i don"t understand as its supposed to either use chaff or flares but at the end, the person says that it will release both chaff and flares are differents intervals just read thre Lua file, its acually quite easy to modify the program -
manual Chaff anf flare counter measures Dispense
cmbaviator replied to cmbaviator's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I see, so i need to edit the CMS via the UCP each time i spawn in PvP server ? i wish we had something like tr JEff where we can customize the CMS programm in the option. isn't the programm 5 the panic program and would release both Chaff and flare ? -
i find to opposite, the F16 pitch and roll axis is oversenstive, one degree deflection and i'm almost doing a barell roll, makes dogfight and overhead brake waay harder in my opinion. The Jeff 17 feels way better in my opinion, easy to control the aircraft
-
Hello, i was wondering if its possible to either dispense chaff or Flare manually ? For example i press one button to dispense chaff and another one for flares. I would like to optimise my counter measures, use only Chaff in BVR and Chaff in dog fight manually

Hello, Recently, i've received the TH Warthog throttle, i was wondering if someone would share their profile with no shift profile please? Thanks
-
let's say you are a couple of Nm outside the Max Range of the AIM120C, it is usefull to loft the 120C to gain a bit more range ? i think the SD10 can benefit from that technique but i'm wondering about the 120C?

Hello, Been flying the Jeff for Weeks and i think i can perform a standard overhead brake. The question is i tried to follow the 1% thing regarding the banking G load on the initial turn before downwind, so if my speed is 320Kt, i try to maintain 3.2G and then slowly relax the stick as the speed drops. How ever, by doing that it makes me quite close to the airport ( Wing Tip over the runway in downwind). The sweet spot for me is to bank at around 2.5g ( first landing in the video) Then i tried to perform a more agressive bank at 3G but i need to make a more agressive bank in base turn and finale turn and quite hard to not over shoot ( second lading). the third landing was a bit better. I guess the visual landing by overhead brake in Jeff is the same as the F16 but, i saw video where F16 pilot would brake at 5G and then make a severe bank and nose down attitude on base and finale turn, seems very hard to do. Any advice would be appreciated

i guess there is different climb profile depending on the situation like Economic climb for optimal range, Fast climb for interception.....

Hello, Each i have an STT lock on an Heli and in the no escape zone, each they manage to evade my SD10 and even PL5 and then i get shot down by their missile espcially by the gazelle. does the missile have a hard time tracking a very small object like an Heli ?
