Hello, I see, the numbers available for each missile type in DCS's Pyotr Velikiy don't match up with the real life ones. So I guess like you say, the systems are somewhat bugged and with wrong implementations. ... I suppose ED (or who created the DCS's Pyotr Velikiy) doesn't plan to correct these aspects in a near future, would they ?
-
Well, I believe I've finally managed to exhaust all of the CGN Pyotr Velikiy's onboard SAM stock... a few impressions below. Counting the lines, one by one the type of SAM units launched, at debriefing menu: 48N6 (S-300F) : 33 5V55 (S-300PS) : 52 9M330 (Tor) : 68 9M311 (Tunguska) : 303 (as this is a somewhat big number, there can be roughly a + or - 2 units error...) Conditions / impressions: - it was a single mission where 52 AI aircraft (in 13 groups) launched anti-ship missiles and flown directly to the AI Pyotr Velikiy; - not all of them attacked at the same time, neither they all carried anti-ship missiles - AGM-84D... as around 7 hits from these can sink the ship; - both S-300 types were expended first; then "Tor", and then the "Tunguska" (sometimes along with the 30mm rotary cannons); - I've concluded the ship's SAM stock was completely expended, as the last 2 aircraft groups flew over and near the ship without him engaging them anymore whatsoever, with the 2 rear port board / side Kortik modules keeping in ready position - pointed horizontally, as if they were replenished; (Which by the way, are the only ones to do so after expending their ammunition; as the 4 others do stand pointed vertically after expending theirs.) Also, there were other times, in which for instance were shot 38 x 48N6 (S-300F), instead of the 33 x in this mission, I don't understand this ? @Seaeagle, although one was expecting 192 x, does the 303 x 9M311 (Tunguska) in DCS makes any sense for you ? (Can it be a bug as those 2 modules do replenish much more times than the others ?)
-
I believe the other modules also reload, but not as often as the 2 rear ones of the port board / side. Yeah I know, one would have to count the missile launches by type at the debrief menu after the mission...
-
Thank you. So I guess that in DCS maybe 2 of the port board / side modules are using some of the other modules magazine / ammunition since the others stop engaging much earlier... I'll try it further in a couple hours.
-
Thank you Seaeagle, So, by 'combat module' I assume you are refering to each Kashtan (Kortik?) CIWS 'battery'. Keeping in mind that the ship does have a total of 6 of these modules, we are talking of a total: 192 x "Tunguska" missiles ?

Hello everyone, I've been doing several experimental missions, against the CGN Pyotr Velikiy, to know more about its different armament types (sending constant waves of different fighters to attack it). Hoewver, after a very long time expermenting, it seems that its short-range SAM - 9M311 "Tunguska" is of almost infinite stock ? ... as the 2 rear left side batteries keep re-suplying several times, when all the 4 others stay pointed up after expending all their ammunition.
-
No sure if I understood it well, but... Can you grasp the fact that, if others thought the same way you do, you would never even see the Ka-50, A-10C, F-14B, Apache, etc ?
-
Regarding the bold I understand the idea, but I don't know if its logic would be very pratical / effective in real combat situations. As in the early F-4 Phantom II, the RIO's cockpit is even more overfilled with instrument panels than the pilot's cockpit... leaving the RIO with almost zero forward visibility even at head height. So I imagine the RIO would be handicaped (versus the Pilot), when trying to acquire a target with the Helmet Sight, both in field of view and coordination / reaction time, as it would loose sight of the target more frequently.
-
This ^ I'm also looking forward to acquire the AH-64D, as amongst several things I look forward to know its several sensors, avionics, sights, etc. ... however I'll spend my money only when the product effectively comes out.
-
Thank you, I'll try it ASAP ! I'm yet a single player more kind of guy...
-
Pertinent points and fully agree, but... for me that's precisely where the biggest part of my interest on these systems is - dealing with the crude limitations of them, in a time they were somewhat 'pioneer' and therefore rudimentar. Would very much enjoy to use the VTAS at the F-4 Phantom II, in acquiring targets with a given AIM-9 version. Besides for guys like me who appreciate this kind of stuf, comparing the analogic nature of this system in the Phantom (versus the highly digitalized one of the F/A-18's JHMCS) should be interesting...
-
So, no one ?
-
Hahaaahaaaaa !!! Very good ! This is "the real McCoy" ! Fully agree on that, and also that guy who axed the Tomcat (Cheney), could also go take a hike.
-
Yep, although the russian Helmet Mounted Sight in the MiG-29 was the one which gained broad notoriety since the 80's, the US military were already testing / employing these sort of systems sometime ago as demonstrated for example with the Phantom's VTAS. Interestingly, the first time I've seen such a system was in the 1983's movie "Blue Thunder"...

Getting that system modeled would be awsome.

Hello everyone, I've asked at the main Dekra forum, but no great avail: - are the SD-10 (or PL12) related mods for single-player, again unavailable (fail IC check or crash my DCS program) for the J11 fighter in DCS 2.7 ? - tried the 2 available ones at the link below, but they crash my DCS after mission editor... https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/type-is-mod/unit-is-j-11a/apply/ Thank you.

PSA: F-14 Performance/FM Development Status + Guided Discussion
Top Jockey replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Highly interesting and original suggestion - I'll give you that. (If you search for it, @Victory205 once suggested to activate the ship's CIWS on everyone who failed to be at the correct on speed.) But it's already bad enough to only arrive at DCS 2.7 at previous week for the first time (as before I was on DCS 2.5 with Win 7). ... and therefore I'm now failing to properly grab the arresting cables 70 % of the times... and Jester ejecting alone in panic 10 % of those times, even if a mighty F-14 pilot like me still manage to save the aircraft. But jokes aside, if one wants realism, I guess that's one of those cases where the 'discipline' factor comes in - acquire and maintain proper carrier landing procedures. As curiosity, I believe in the F/A-18C module the tailhook rebound happened right from the early days if one failed to arrive in the correct parameters. -
Yes if it would be possible. Thank you.

Hello everyone, Instead of opening a new thread for my doubt, I believe this one is the same matter: - are the SD-10 (or PL12) related mods, again unavailable for the J11 fighter ? - tried the 2 available ones at the link below, but they crash my DCS after mission editor... https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/type-is-mod/unit-is-j-11a/apply/

Hello everyone, I've been away from DCS for a few months until recently. Does anyone know if, are the AIM-9 modes / functions (i.e. Cage / Uncage ) completed already ? -
Hello everyone, I've been away from DCS a few months in a row. I'll finally be upgrading from WIndows 7 to Windows 10 for the first time, as otherwise I couldn't access the updates. I already uninstalled all my modules through the module manager, so my doubt is: - as I will be formating my PC prior installing Winows 10 and a brand new DCS World installation, should I leave my in-game status: Online, or Offline, so there ain't no problems when loggin-in again ? Thank you.

Thank you.

For those who are now on DCS 2.7, are the AIM-9 modes / functions (like cage & uncage for instance) complete already ? Thank you.
