  1. Thank you, and congratulations for the outstanding work !
  2. Regarding PC sims, the sound is probably the aspect which I always paid the least attention to, (still using a cheap sound set). Although I've appreciated a lot the different sounds from the TF-30s. The only mod I would think of installing would be that one to make the dials / gauges / lights more easily readable.
  3. Fully agree. I would suggest you now try the F-14A with the TF-30 engines. Its sound fidelity (perceptible difference related to the F110's for instance) was a very pleasant surprise also.
  4. Success ! The VF-154 textures are now appearing without any (visible) corruption when zooming out. Merelly resized and copied each of the individual textures to its place in the tile board (3 in 1 LOD). Tried to align each of them visually with the other tiles, and I have no idea of the effect of this on the aircraft in game - but so far noticed nothing out of place... Thank you again Rick !
  5. Finally found a freeware program which does open the .dds files, paint.net. And found the file you mention: 3 in 1 LOD. It shows some 40 small "tiles" with all the other textures and more, but what exactly do I do now ? Thank you. edit Comparing this LOD to other aircraft's liveries, I believe I can now understand you. In this specific 3 in 1 LOD: - the tiles aren't in the same order / orientation; - there seems to be 2 different LODs for the same wing; - and one missing for the fuselage... I mean some of the small tiles in the 3 in 1 LOD don't match with its individual texture that is.
  6. Thank you for your time Rick. I'll try for myself then, it seems a specific program is needed to open the .dds files. I'll find one and see hoew it goes... then I'll post here if succeded or not.
  7. Thank you Rick. It's an outstanding livery of VF-154 from @Strut. Right here: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/englis...25#post7147125 Essentially, when zooming out a bit the textures get corrupted.
  8. As visual damage effect / immersion feeling, would be outstanding to see this featured in DCS. (Both for the Tomcat and other aircraft also.) I mean we already have the wings ripped out animation featured, in the Tomcat and Flanker that I know of.
  9. Like @sLYFa mentions, the biggest difference I can notice is obviously the -A's delay in engine response. Its flight path marker slow changes (call it velocity vector if you want), also does confirm that. Although I've been doing carrier landings with the Tomcat for ages (virtually I mean), they are not yet perfect. Maybe because I never got used to employ DLC, as I didn't know it early on; and sometimes I'm not "on-speed" either. I'll leave you guys a pic, maybe you can help me out in what I might be doing wrong:
  10. Ok, if a product's "recognition" is of such importance for you, then: https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/comm...s_used_by_the/ So, amongst many aspects, ED also does spend thousands of research hours (with SMEs inclusivelly) on a given aircraft so it can be the most possibly faithfully reproduced... but you want them to now change at will, and come up with arcade genre type of aircraft ?? For that, there's ace combat and those types already (which, are very good for their purposed genre). Why would ED do it, if it's completely opposed of their intended niche's market ? Why would someone who really want's to know and enjoy for instance, all the technicalities of the Hornet's avionics, systems, etc. be interested in a 100 % artificial livery like ace combat style ? (This type of customer typically much more prefers the realistic "as In Real Life" - and that is the opposite of artificial models i.e.: fantasy liveries, fantasy flight models; 50+ air to air missiles, and 80+ air to ground, etc.) The thing is: sometimes when you mix up 2 very different concepts, you end up getting something that is absolutelly none of them.
  11. 40 here. Started looking at the marvelous world of military aicraft PC games with the famous: ZX Spectrum 48K, on the late 1980's maybe.
  12. Congrats on your new controls set ! I didn't try to stay away from DCS. I do try to not spend much money... then 2 weeks ago, I've spent more than 300 € in a thrustmaster F-18 grip + hotas magnetic base...
  13. Dangerous stuff... A speedy recovery for you.
  14. What ? What I meant was: I've been reading the couple threads about it here in the forum.
  15. I believe they're the first 3 on the pic below. There's also PLM lock (or something like that) on the Throttle cathegory.
  16. I understand something got under your skin, but let's not mix up things - different genre cathegories either. Examples: Arcade genre : ace combat Light (or lite?) sim genre : sf2 (north atlantic - for instance, for those who also enjoy the F-14) Study sim genre : dcs modules Enthusiasts who want to fly, fight and know the "gazilions" of avionics features details; like modes, functions, switches, MFD pages, sensors, etc of an F/A-18C (for instance), clearly are not after a mere "game". (Just look at the number of pages on the Hornet's manual.) For games, there are also many other available options in the market, like the ones I mentioned. So it doesn't make any sense to tone down the "high-end" sim options - always existed a considerable costumer base for this niche, it would be a terrible waste of money and work/man hours.
  17. Talking about liveries, can anyone share some insight here, if you will: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/englis...ivery-repaired Would be very much appreciated, thank you.
  18. Adding the "main" and "saved games" ED folders to the malwarebytes exclusion list doesn't avoid the issue ?
  19. I've been looking at the MFI 55, seems a very interesting system to be included, is there any info about eventual release dates ?
  20. Right there in bold: the point is ED's Digital Combat Simulator is not "a game"; it is by many aspects considered a "study sim". ... therefore it's understandable that, they pursue to maintain an high standard, details and features wise in the several aircrafts / systems they simulate. Other than that, yes people could sometimes chill out a bit in the forums (even myself), I'll give yout that.
  21. Thank you for your reply @ST0RM. I've done that twice, sent the first PM some months ago, also posted a comment here at the forum and at the Livery page in DCS store, but I have no reply from him... (I believe the repair might be somewhat 'easy' to those who know about this stuff - merely the livery textures get corrupted when zooming out a bit.) Any alternatives ?
  22. Hello everyone, Would appreciate your insight / opinion please: - what's the correct procedure, to see if a given livery get's repaired ? That livery is in DCS Store user mods, I'm not its author (neither do I know how to make them), but neither does its author reply either. Which it's a pitty, as it really is an outstanding livery but it does have a texture bug, so I'm trying to see if it can be repaired. So what's the procedure here, without stepping on anyones toes ? Thank you.
  23. Hello Strut, This livery is indeed one of my all time favorites - thank you for the outstanding work! But it seems it needs a repair: When zooming out a bit in the F2 view, the textures get corrupted. "pic 1" is correct ; "pic 2" show corrupted textures. Would by any chance be possible to eventually fix it ? Thank you for your time.
