I'd say once 2.5 is out focus on details and bug fixes, like ATC, carriers, weapon guidance, AI, etc. Of course there will be the map guys and Aircraft guys and they should just start on new projects. Bering strait pls!!!!!

Guys don't get worked up over it. It's not worth it. garrya, you DID take a PM and make it public. Perhaps it would have been better to PM Neo if you wanted to discuss what the f-16 pilot said. Neo, you DID ignore the fact that garrya went out of the way to make his posts un-offensive, even if he messed up by posting that PM. Just apologize so you can move on without hard feelings no need to be so bitter. I'd really hate for either one of you to get discouraged from posting as you both have some great insight.

I'm sorry guys but doubting his credibility as an f-18 pilot over his opinions of a jet that he hasn't flown is pretty over the top. As for Sprey I don't think he has much credibility, and that's because of his statements on past projects that turned out great. IF Sprey were credible, then he would be using hyperbole WAY too much. But to pretend that Sprey is the only detractor of the F-35 is also wrong. Neo you don't HAVE to prove anything, I say innocent until proven guilty so I trust you. If it were me PERSONALLY I would have no problem posting my name, etc. but that is your decision.

If you read his posts he wasn't trying to be mean, just sounds like he has a pet peeve with lots of guys choosing female voices. Personally I'm fine with it, more options for radio stuff would be great.

Neofightr you are taking what he has been saying too personally. He can't control if other people jump to conclusions. There are plenty of people on this forum who don't like the F-35 who haven't been ostracized for it. I see no reason to make an exception because someone is an actual pilot. This whole debate started very interesting to read but now it is just becoming cliche.... don't let people get to ya that badly.

Out of all the unbelievable things that have been added to historical fiction movies before, the gliding spitfire shooting down the Stuka is pretty low on the list. Would you have to be in the exact place at the right time? Of course, but I've heard some pretty unbelievable "coincidences" in actual war stories before. That is to say, it didn't bother me too much...

That's probably how you would feel if you were there, minus the boring of course. ;)

A lot of these complaints are the same complaints seen on the multiplayer side of fighting the 109. Yes new DM and blackout will help a lot, but one must come to terms with the fact that the 109 in sim is more upgraded than the 51 we have. As with a multiplayer fight, if the enemy gets a jump on you or you start out at equal footing, it is very hard to turn the tables as it should be. Keep practicing, you'll get there. Learn how to put your mustangs turn performance to it's max, and with enough practice, when he goes vertical you will eventually learn to identify whether you can follow him long enough to get some shots off or not. Also keep that speed up as long as possible!

Neofightr, I think you are giving sprey much more credit than he is due, if he is the engineer he claims to be, an awful lot of his ideas were ignored. Like his ideas on the F-15 and F-16 (I think he even wanted the f-16 to have no radar?!?) This is not about choosing one expert over another, sprey has slowly whittled down his credibility over the years by making many ludicrous statements. It is not so much him being critical of his own work as it is him denouncing literally ANY other work on American fighters that he wasn't involved in. (Which happens to be a lot of the aircraft he "worked on") In other words, if it doesn't square with his idea, it's wrong. For being an influence on the f-16 or f-15, it seems like all of his ideas never made it in............ He seems to promote the idea that no fighter can ever be multirole successfully without some sort of horrible compromise. As if you simply can't take bombs off of an airplane, and as if the engine upgrades made to F-16s an F-18 would not cancel out upgraded radar and IFF equipment. What I'm saying is, what you have seen here is just the tip of the iceberg of ridiculous over the top statements this guy has made.

Damage model is being worked on but it is not impossible to shoot down planes, especially player flown ones in multiplayer. Visibility could be improved, but the new lighting in 2.1 has improved slightly already. Maybe better contrast between Aircraft and the ground would help. However visibility in DCS is not as far from realistic as some people would have you think (some of the problem lies in the Monitor being smaller than real life field of view) In short..... git guud
