At this point I seriously doubt we will ever see the MiG-23 by RB/Overstratos. It'd be healthier to consider that thing dead instead of keeping hope up in futility. I second the plea to HB to consider making a Soviet aircraft. For me it doesn't have to be the MiG-23 MLD, a MiG-23ML would be totally fine for me, and seeing that they used a German F-4F for their F-4E, maybe HB could use their contacts to get hands on former East German AF MiG-23ML that might be available in museums in Germany too. There might even be a few SMEs available in Germany to help with the project, pilots or technicians who worked on the MiG-23ML, plus there might be lots of German documentation available on it. Therefore it might be better to ask for an ML instead of an MLD. Other projects that could be of interest to HB in the realm of Soviet aircraft could be MiG-21MF (since the M3 MiG-21bis is... not really dead, but not alive either), also ex East German AF, or the Su-22M4, also ex East German AF, for the same reasons as mentioned with the MiG-23ML (SMEs available, possibly aircraft in museums to gain access to, documentation available in German...). Currently it looks like apart from ED themselves HB might be the only third-party developer left who has the manpower, the knowledge and the stamina to bring such a module forward. What do you think, HB? @IronMike

This is still the current behaviour of the APU generator, and I was wondering if this is correct like that? I assumed that the voltage indicator for the stand-by generator should only show voltage if the stand-by generator is activated? @AeriaGloria @admiki You are sort of an authority on Soviet helicopters for me, do you know anything about this?

pre-purchase has ended - but $80 for this early access version?
Volator replied to v2tec's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I think they are already in. The BL-755 can be carried by the MiG-21 and the MB-339 in DCS. Regarding the Matra 250s, aren't these the ones that the Mirages do carry in DCS? -

Wow, that sounds interesting. I did not know you plan to add F-4F features. That would be awesome! Will we also get the Matra 250kg bombs and the BL-755? The German Jabos/fighter-bombers carried those. -

I think the F-4 is worth every dime, and it will even get better over time. -
First ever DCS: F-4E Phantom II Feedback Thread - May 22nd 2024
Volator replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
First impression: Phantastic! But: We definitely need the red-orange flight suits for ALL the Norm 72 and Norm 81 schemes, not only for the JG-74 GAFTIC livery! Oh, and of course a "Richthofen" skin for the Norm 81s. -

fixed RWR not showing locked radars in Search mode
Volator replied to Haukka81's topic in Bugs and Problems
Who cares, we have a good aircraft now where we can expect continuous support and bug fixes, the F-4 by Heatblur Joking aside, I haven't checked yet. I am happy that ED finally adressed this, but ... seven years... boy, am I happy that ED did not do the Phantom. -
1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Cold War, full-real [für deutsche Piloten]
Volator replied to Volator's topic in Jets Squadrons
DCS F-4E Phantom II Release Date Announcement- May 21st 2024
Volator replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
We read this a lot here, but I highly doubt it. DCS folks are highly addicted, and there are virtually no alternatives if you are anything else than a dedicated Viper pilot. I claim 99.9% of the very vocal people will stay and continue buying modules. The ones who really leave are not really interested in DCS anyway. -
My guess is that wasn‘t an intentional change, but another glitch in the code caused by an update, but it was too insignificant for M3 to fix it. Fixes and improvements for the MiG-21 are in fact really rare, M3, being a very small team obviously, have their hands more than full with the Corsair. It’s really sad, an important aircraft like the MiG-21 needs more attention.

reported Su-27 ACS Landing Mode broken
Volator replied to Ironhand's topic in Flaming Cliffs Bugs & Problems
Hope you don't mind me jumping in here, just want to say that IRL flying an autopilot ILS approach is initiated with altitude hold as well, and once the glideslope is captured, the autopilot automatically switches from altitude hold to glideslope and rides it down nicely, so assuming PRMG basically works similarily, it would make sense to fly to the glideslope capture point with altitude hold. -
DCS F-4E Phantom II Release Date Announcement- May 21st 2024
Volator replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Out of curiosity, how does that help you when the next module you are waiting for also doesn't meet the scheduled release date? You want it, you have to pay for it, right? Only pre-order saves you a few bucks. But you will have to wait in both cases, and your money will go to the developer at some point, so where is the advantage for you in boycotting pre-sales? -

I can't believe grown-up people really took a day off because of this. Is this your first-ever anticipated release of a DCS module, or of a computer game in general? "You made a bad choice!"- 715 replies

MiG-29 all versions, Damper does not work properly at high speed!
Volator replied to Irisz's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
I have the original East German AF MiG-29 flight manual here on my desk, and it doesn't say anything about dampers providing over-G protection. In fact it states that above a certain speed, manoeuvers are limited by the limits of the airframe. That tells me that you can break the aircraft if you pull too hard at high speeds. -

Laut Wikipedia übrigens für die Luftwaffe die AGM-65B... und zwar ohne extender, d.h. in dem Fall dann keine Sidewinders... falls jemand mit realistischen loadouts fliegen will.

Amen brother.

The AI generally sucks because it overperforms in terms of aerodynamics and thrust. Against a human-flown enemy things are usually much easier in that regard.

He is thinking of the wings breaking so easily, or rather the g-forces setting on too rapidly.

Additionally, ED should make it possible to select or deselect the hardpoints AND the flare dispensers AND the IR suppressor in the arming screen in-game so that pilots can configure their Hueys individually in multiplayer. And with deselection of the frontal miniguns, the pilot and co-pilot's sights should be removed automatically just like with the Mi-8.
