Cockpit livery mod after update 2.9.6.57650
Volator replied to Mateo's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Just noticed that Devrim's English cockpit livery also doesn't work anymore, just like OP described... dang it, I liked that mod. -
What would be a realistic power setting for a VHF radio of a GCI radar station for fighter guidance an NDB beacon for navigation purposes ? I am using 500 watts as a standard, but I have no idea if that would match real-world transmitting power.

It appears to me the weathervaning effect of the MiG-19P is too strong in DCS. The manual says I tested a 7 m/s crosswind and a 14 m/s crosswind with a relative bearing of 80°. In both cases it was very difficult to maintain runway heading and required considerable amount of differential braking, even with full rudder left and aileron into the wind, at 14 m/s I had to maintain full brake left until lift-off. What struck me most was the ineffectiveness of the rudder well beyond 200 km/h. Considering that the usual nose wheel lift-off speed is around 250 km/h, that appears to be odd. All of this contradicts what the manual describes. Similar results happen when taxiing the MiG-19P in DCS. It takes A LOT of braking away from the wind, and after one longer test flight with a longer taxi distance to the parking position I managed to use up all my air pressure. I only came across this issue after all these years because I tend to play on multiplayer servers that do not include any kind of weather unfortunately. This. And one thing is certain: There will not be a current, modern Russian or Chinese fighter in DCS. It has been said by ED and others time and time again. End of story. Which is why we need a focus on Cold War modules to allow for more RedFor from that era. There, people still can fly the era's superfighter from both sides to be leader of the scoreboard, and history buffs have time-period correct scenarios with realistic modules.
-
Also, you have to judge every aircraft/module in its historical context. For the mid-eighties to mid-nineties the MiG-29 9.12 is a quite capable aircraft.

Nice find, thx! If I put these files into the respective folders, will it pass integrity check for multiplayer?

HB Discord news are that HB is developing the F-16A for MSFS in conjunction with IndiaFoxtEcho. Will it be developed for DCS eventually?

Pre-adjustment I (non-VR user) was able to see contacts satisfyingly and more realistically after years of frustration - at the price of many VR users reporting seeing dots as huge blobs, which had a huge negative impact on multiplayer. Now, post-adjustment, everything seems to be back to the status that I experienced in all those years before. Dots are harder to see again and enemy aircraft very easy to lose visually in a dogfight. I only checked twice in SP, but my first impression is that this new dot spotting thing is a step backwards.

reported Sling load qmb mission Syria Mi8
Volator replied to LuseKofte's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
The Mi-8 crew announces SAM launches??? When was that introduced to DCS? Or is that a scripted thing of some missions? I've never seen that before. -
Missing USSR airbases in the upcoming Afghanistan map
Volator replied to Ronin_Gaijin's topic in Wish List
At this point I really hope that ED will go down the path of their Marianas map and release a second 1980s version of the Afghanistan map. Having the fully-built 2000s US and coalition airbases in the current Afghanistan map is not a good basis for authentic 1980s era Soviet scenarios (which I personally currently find more interesting than the WOGT scenario). -
I hope there will be news about the planned Draken. @Cobra847 mentioned years ago that HB had the intention to create an AI Draken as asset for the Viggen, but that they also have a full-module Draken on their agenda.

Yes, no show-stopping Bugs atm. The radar should update faster, but other than that the module is working as it should. There are some minor bugs that only show when you dig really deep into the procedures. Question remains how long that will be the case with the ongoing struggle between ED and RB.

At this point I seriously doubt we will ever see the MiG-23 by RB/Overstratos. It'd be healthier to consider that thing dead instead of keeping hope up in futility. I second the plea to HB to consider making a Soviet aircraft. For me it doesn't have to be the MiG-23 MLD, a MiG-23ML would be totally fine for me, and seeing that they used a German F-4F for their F-4E, maybe HB could use their contacts to get hands on former East German AF MiG-23ML that might be available in museums in Germany too. There might even be a few SMEs available in Germany to help with the project, pilots or technicians who worked on the MiG-23ML, plus there might be lots of German documentation available on it. Therefore it might be better to ask for an ML instead of an MLD. Other projects that could be of interest to HB in the realm of Soviet aircraft could be MiG-21MF (since the M3 MiG-21bis is... not really dead, but not alive either), also ex East German AF, or the Su-22M4, also ex East German AF, for the same reasons as mentioned with the MiG-23ML (SMEs available, possibly aircraft in museums to gain access to, documentation available in German...). Currently it looks like apart from ED themselves HB might be the only third-party developer left who has the manpower, the knowledge and the stamina to bring such a module forward. What do you think, HB? @IronMike

This is still the current behaviour of the APU generator, and I was wondering if this is correct like that? I assumed that the voltage indicator for the stand-by generator should only show voltage if the stand-by generator is activated? @AeriaGloria @admiki You are sort of an authority on Soviet helicopters for me, do you know anything about this?

pre-purchase has ended - but $80 for this early access version?
Volator replied to v2tec's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I think they are already in. The BL-755 can be carried by the MiG-21 and the MB-339 in DCS. Regarding the Matra 250s, aren't these the ones that the Mirages do carry in DCS?
