I agree with the above. Let's just hope it will get maintained better by Razbam than their other Soviet aircraft MiG-19.

...which would be perfectly fine

Both do as far as I can tell from a quick read. One would just have to compare the search filter logic of other RWRs ED has implemented in other, similar RWRs in other modules themselves (!), and/or compare similar RWR search filters in basically every other combat flight sim to see that the F-5's search filter is odd. If you haven't experienced the issue yourself, here's a quick description: If you are in "search" mode in the F-5, the RWR will not show you the radar that is locking you (which is the major mistake by ED here) If you are in "lock" mode though, it will only show you the locking radar, but not any radar searching. So you can either choose to find out who is searching for you, but you will probably not notice that he locks to kill you, or you can be in lock mode to be aware of guys trying to kill you the moment he locks you, but you won't notice him searching you, i.e. you might be aware of his presence only when it's too late. Therefore in F-5 practice you might be in search mode, have an enemy nail on your RWR, and once he disappears on the RWR, you would need to switch to "lock" mode to check if he is actually locking you or has dissappeared from search mode for other reasons. Not very practical in combat. All other modules show you the guy who is trying to kill you even if you are in "search mode" (i.e do not have the search radars filtered out), and that's of course how it should be.

I think the MiG-21bis is due for a complete paid overhaul, similar to the Black Shark or the A-10C. But it's obvious M3 have their hands full with the Corsair, I'd even say too full, which is very unfortunate given the popularity and the significance of the -21bis for DCS.

Add to that list the wrong RWR modes that have been stubbornly ignored by ED ever since, plus the at least doubtful very nose-heavy take-off and landing characteristics, and maybe even the pitch/vertical speed ratio.

fixed The sabre is around 741lbs underweight as modeled.
Volator replied to Tim_Fragmagnet's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes, mine shows 15179lbs in MP (probably 2lbs worth of paint?!) with 100% fuel and 100% guns, so it fits the Dash-1 value for the -F-25 and later as it should.- 16 replies

Ok, I'm gonna derail these back and forth accusations now. Wasn't MAC planned as a stand-alone product that has nothing to do with DCS?

F-4E Phantom Development Report - DCS Newsletter 31/03/2023
Volator replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Yes, more Phorn please. -

Not that I dislike the idea, but wouldn't that mean that the only RSBN stations we'd ever have are the four (?) military Russian airbases on Caucasus?

Try this cockpit mod, it's very helpful: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/722567/

Beautiful as can be

I don't know why I've only now seen your reply, sorry for that, but by all means, please do! Squadron emblem for JG71 would be my favourite. The WWII JG52 emblem is not really fitting here

That is a new bug introduced with 2.9…

When using the MiG-29 AP in attitude or altitude hold, the aileron trim jitters. You can see it in the stick movements, the trim indicator lights and the flight path. Test_MiG-29A_AP_trim.trk

Test_Su-27_AP_no_trim.trkTest_Su-25T_AP_trim.trkTest_MiG-29A_AP_trim.trk Su-27 AP still not trimming correctly, Su-25T and MiG-29 APs show expected behavior. Please note the jittering in the aileron trim of the MiG-29, gonna post another bug report on that. -

Huey or Gazelle for learning to fly a helicopter?
Volator replied to The_Chugster's topic in DCS 2.9
Huey primarily, or Mi-8 second. Both have been training helicopters in the West and the East, and they are the best in DCS. Gazelle is totally not suited for properly learning to fly helicopters in DCS imho. -
While that would certainly be a good makeshift solution that I‘d absolutely welcome, it‘s about time ED added a proper mission planner for multiplayer that offers full mission planning and a send/data cartridge function to send this flight plan to other flight members, along with flight plan markings / dog houses on the kneeboard and F10 maps…

reported RWR not showing locked radars in Search mode
Volator replied to Aries144's topic in Bugs and Problems
Well, you are among the other 99 you are talking about. Neither ED nor you can come up with evidence that the RWR of the F-5 works like it does in DCS, whereas RL and in fact all the other Western RWRs ED made show how a western RWR of that era works. -
Will the USN/USMC version be a separate module?
Volator replied to Chewmann's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Nah, maybe for the US and Brits, but the rest of the world definitely thinks of the Phantom as a land-based fighter, mostly with a gun. -
A long-standing "bug" within DCS is that EWRs can see through trees and buildings. Only terrain breaks their line of sight. This greatly affects helicopter gameplay in multiplayer, and I feel it is time with excellent helicopter modules like the Apache out it is time ED adresses this problem.
