Semi-translucent terrain issue.
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in Bugs and Problems
Any info about this...this issue has been running for about 2 years now... -
thanks for linking these post, greatly appreciated...will paste what Wags said about all this: "Much of the team is now focused on big updates for the Hornet! This entails Track While Scan radar mode, AACQ, SPOT, new targeting pod features, improvements to the flight dynamics (like ground effect issue), and others. December should be a great month for the Hornet. Thank you for your patience." sooo...any news regarding these improvements? thanks!

Can't drop bombs in AUTO, why?
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in JF-17 Thunder
I think it might be some issue with the target designation with the wdm7...as soon as I have the box over the target (point track) the bombs drop, but if there is no box the bombs wont drop...the problem is that most objects like buildings and such doesnt get boxed even when I designate them as targets correctly and then the bombs wont drop... I dont think it is a problem with the moment I press the drop button as it is supposed to be pressed during the tone afaik...even the pitch can be about +-2 degrees (at least) of tolerance and they will be dropped no problem (when the target is boxed). can someone confirm this? -
Then why do I get instantly sucked to the ground when flying over the runway when other planes do the opposite? Yes, the yaw fcs seems odd at times, it will enter in a really bad resonance at times, specially when mixed with sudden pitch changes, it gets really extreme sometimes.

Can't drop bombs in AUTO, why?

No one? -
Hi all, for some reason, Im experiencing some odd behaviour most of the times when trying to drop bombs (mk82,83...) in auto mode...they simply wont drop ...I dont know what am I doing wrong but hope you can help me. 1-master arm to arm 2- AG master mode 3-select the bombs I want to drop 4-Activate fuze (nose/tail) 5-start wdm7, lock a target in the ground 6-Align with the drop line, 0 pitch 7- wait for the 4 seconds acoustic indication tone and press the drop weapond button in the middle of that tone 8- There is a chance >90% to the bomb to not drop at all  Weird thing is, some times (dont know why), the bombs will eventually drop...I simply go around, start the bomb run again and the bomb will drop...wth???...CCIP works 100% of the time, also guided rockets work 100% of the time. Here is a track showing what I do and failing to launch one single bomb. Hope you can help me with this. thanks! no bombs drop.trk

IIRC, it was said that the hornet was getting some FM improvements as well as the famous inverted ground effect fix in december, which at the same time was planned for about the last summer time, but there hasn't been such update as far as I know (and ground effect is still broken) so I would like to know if this is still planned and if possible an estimate date for it. thanks!

I wonder if these improvements will also affect how artificial lights are rendered?, I mean, will runway lights, for instance, behave like actual lights instead of textures?. -
Simply that, I wonder if we will be getting some news from you guys, about the A model, carrier and such. Not much info lately. Thanks!

Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
Sooo, if I understood correctly...everybody gets a supercarrier discount on prepurchase, X%, hornet owners and no hornet owners. Hornet owners have the same X% discount as everybody else just it will extend for a longer period... I wonder, where exactly is the "special" discount for hornet owners then???...a longer discount period is NOT a better (in percentage) discount at all. With special discount for hornet owners I would expect a higher discount (35,40,50...%) independently of the period of discount. Honetstly, cant see how this is any "special" thing for hornet owners. -

Is my understanding that the work in the s-3 viking means work in the future improved AtA refueling right? I remember it was supposed to be the first one getting this new feature. -
Very nice! Just wonder why there isnt any lex vapours? It would look so much better with them...but again amazing display and video!

Im eager to read something about a few features that ed is working on such as: -Improved air to air refueling physics -New weather system (new clouds, layers, winds, gusts, humidity parameter, fog, etc) -Improved artificial lighting (runway lights, cities lights, planes lights, airports and ramps lights, etc) -Siria map -General core improvements (world graphics like water, reflections, terrain, effects, etc.) -Improved ATC. -Dynamic campaign -Vulkan implementation -New explosions and planes' vapour current state of wip developement Cant wait for the next week newsletter! -
[REPORTED]ME dust and smoke fog bugs
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in General Bugs
Thanks for the response BN! Greatly appreciated. Really good news btw, I have been waiting for a proper fog leyer/s in dcs for years now and I would absolutely love to have a nice slight, color accurate, smooth in the horizon and higher altitute fog...I think dcs visibility distance is always too good because we are missing a full fog layer/s weather control setting and implementation. Im sure it would even be great to be able to set a nice fog for performance pourposes, as it would help A LOT with fps and objetcs loading and blending in the distance. Im not sure too if you are refering to a future big new version of dcs (like dcs 3.0 or something like that) or the next patch/es but I think is a great news to know that this weather condition is getting some love :) I guess it will be part of the new weather system so I have hope you guys implement the ability to set multiple layers of fog(or visibility distance) so we can fly at high altitude yet controlling the visibility at such altitudes, thats something missing in dcs. And if a new revamped effect is being cooked then I would be extremely happy, a new, modern, more realistic representation of the world haze and fog would make the world to look sooooo much better!! . Improving how the world is "masked" by a very heavy blue fog, causing a very noticeable blue band in the horizon the higher you fly instead of a smooth, progressive and realistic fog layer that extends from the horizon would drastically make the world so much more beliebable. Cant wait to watch these improvements! Thanks! -
[REPORTED]ME dust and smoke fog bugs
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in General Bugs
Please Ed! We would love to be able to enable a basic fog for dcs, fixing the EXTREME orange color of the dust storm, the extreme density of the fog, the color at diferent times of day and the way the fog interacts with the horizon are key to be usable. Thanks! -
Also the size of the pilot and the helmet is too small...it seems like someone modelled the helmet just over the pilots head skin as if the thikness of the helmet would be zero, which explains why the whole head looks too small.

Looking good!, Im surprised not to see some of the new clouds in these pics though. I guess this map is intended to be used with the carriers/supercarrier in one team and the guam AB in the other. I like it and the fact that it is for free!. Would also like to see some more detail in the sea colors, coral and that stuff as well as an improved water representation (water waves decreasing its size with the distance, clouds reflecting in water and higher res white caps for instance)...all maps would benefit.

[FIXED]MFCD contrast and brightness issue?
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in Fixed Bugs
Awesome, thanks a ton! -
Yeah, noticed this too...it is specially noticeable in the green panel advisory placed in the right of the hud pedestal where ag/aa/speed brake, tanks empty, etc advices are placed...there is some odd "shimmering" the more you zoom out making it almost impossible to read...maybe a mipmaps issue?
-
Who said this is an "issue" or even a "priority"??
-
The amount of flex is correct imo...watch this video, lots of moments where you can see how big the flex is: just a pity there is not more wing vibrations due to other factors.

[FIXED]MFCD contrast and brightness issue?
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in Fixed Bugs
Thats what doesnt seem to work, the right bottom button doesnt affect the general screen brightness nor the map/background brightness but simply decreases the brightness of the symbology in the same way the other 2 buttons do which I assume is incorrect behaviour and why I posted this here. Hope it helps, thanks deka! -
I think is a very nice addition but I also think that the best wing "vabrations" that could be added (not talking about the flex here) would be the ones produced by the buffeting and not only the flutter/dynamic response as we don't have yet a good weather interaction to make them visible in a regular basis so I would have gone the HB way with its Tomcat which seems to work in all dynamic aeroelasticity conditions, flutter, dynamic response AND buffeting. As they are suposed to be WiP I have hope they eventually add more conditions for the wings to "vibrate" in the future, at least as the Tomcat.
