[REPORTED]Sometimes no sound when starting DCS 2.5.6
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Andy t's topic in Sound Bugs
same here. Also, the sound stops working randomly here and there. Changing the audio outputs on the go will eventually fix it for a limited time (few minutes). Another thing I noticed is that changing the different audio output settings makes no difference and all of them make the sound come from the headphones/speakers no matter what. -
As far as I can tell, sound mods (for planes at least), are no longer possible. The existing ones may work by installing them in the saved games location keeping the same file structure but as the new files are encrypted future sound mods are not possible. BRAVO ED!!! Im surprised they are claiming a lack of love from the community while slapping in the face to those who are willing to spend their free time improving the sim. Honestly, I wont be bothering anymore.

Same here, 600/600 mb/s connection yet I cant get anything over 1mb

Nice comparison!. Other than increasing brightness of bright stuff, which now looks overdone and burnt, I really cant see other difference with previous version. :noexpression:

Prior to 2.5.6, my 1080ti was being used fine, 3d clocks and utilization as high as needed up to 99% over dubai with maxed settings. FPS would drop below 60 (in my case as I use vsync) only after my GPU was at 99% if more power was required at that time to keep that frame rate...however, now in the new 2.5.6, I constantly see my gpu being barely used and not even cranking the 3d clocks :doh: ...of course, my fps drop to absurd levels, as low as 12fps sometimes while the GPU was at 1500mghz and 20/30% utilization. I tried forcing maximum performance in the ncp but it does nothing. Here is a capture of the gpu usage after a few minutes in a server, where I could barely fly due to atrocious fps (about 17/20 fps max): Look at that gpu usage AND clocks while DCS was running at 20fps. CPU usage was pretty much the same as in previous versions so dont think thats the cause. Everything else in my system remains the same too. FXO/Metashaders2 refreshed after installing the patch. Anyone?

Low CPU and GPU usage during VR.

same in 2d monitor. -
[REPORTED]2.5.6 Performance
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to speed-of-heat's topic in Game Performance Bugs
i think the problem is in the last 2.5.6 gpu usage (and clocks) is very low for no reason, even when the fps is dropping from 60 fps...checked with msi ab. -
[REPORTED]ME dust and smoke fog bugs
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in General Bugs
I though this was supposed to be fixed in this lates 2.5.6 patch right?..NOTHING about this has been fixed!!...since 2018!!!! -
Yes, still not fixed

Just Looks Weird after 15 Feb Update
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to GrEaSeLiTeNiN's topic in JF-17 Thunder
This update is just a damn mess...whole DCS is messed. I cant believe how they broke everything  -
this or a fast enough fix to make the new lighting state aceptable.
-
This is just water reflections...now they have a slight improved resolution, which is kind of useless due to the extreme size of water's waves which make reflections look unnatural.
-
Already done...that wont change the fact that colors/effects look off and worse than before. The only real improvement was city lights, and even then I wont consider what I have seen to be good. I just see brighter/further city lights textures. Other than that Im sorry but this is a mess.
-
yes, dusk/dawn look extremely unrealistic and weird, with extreme color saturation and odd palette, it was better before. Even moon light was much better before (color). The problem is that this is not LIGHT, and thus, it doesnt feel like so. With "lighting improvement" I expected to finally get some kind of basic real time lighting. The "wip" card is starting to get old imho. This update has been, for ME at least, a huge dissapointment and a massive step back: Errors with the program, bugs, worsen lighting, ME problems, etc. Really starting to get really frustrating.
-
What about the blue nights?
-
I couldnt be more dissapointed with the new "lighting"...it looks unrealistic, specially at dawn/dusk (LOTS of oversaturated and weird colors), and still being texture lighting. It doesnt "shine" like light and lacks any kind of interaction with the environement. In the cockpit, lights look like having a cheap reshade effect, glowing extremely strong. When zooming in, the light bulbs still making bigger. Sorry but I cant see much improvement other than increasing overall brightness of the light textures and rendering distance.

the question is not how many fps it drops but...does it looks any good/different? imho.

Screen space local reflections?

same! upload is much faster

download speed is awful

Ambient occlusion for dcs
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in DCS Core Wish List
As far as I can tell I didnt notice anything inside the cockpit or outside...not any higher gpu usege either. You are welcome mate! -

Yeah, same here...it does nothing :( -
Ambient occlusion for dcs
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Definitely, HBAO would be better, of course, but the performance penalty is bigger, thats why I said SSAO...probably the best solution with the best ratio quality/performance. -
Ambient occlusion for dcs
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in DCS Core Wish List
It will react to light intensity, but no, it will never react to light direction or to changes in object placement which would lead to changes in the own "shape" of the occluded effect. It is not possible to use this pre baked ao for moving objects because being a static (texture) effect it wont make sense. This ao method is kind of an ancient workarround and extremely limited...ssao would be a massive improvement over it. -
Ambient occlusion for dcs
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yes, I already mentioned it several times in this thread...however that is nowhere near as good, accurate nor useful as actual real time AO, not to mention that pre-baked AO is a static effect that wont change properly or dynamically according to light changes so it is not possible to make it work for objects that move over the terrain for instance. Also only updated models have pre-baked AO textures, and is quite unlikely every single object (and terrain) will ever get a unique AO channel for it so, pretty much useless and definitely NOT the way to go in the future.
