  1. I figured as much! I just didn't know any info on it, but I would have been surprised if that was a widespread thing. Thanks for the quick reply!
  2. OverStratos - any plans on putting in rocket-assisted takeoff? Seems interesting but don't know how it was incorporated in real use. It would be fun to see a squadron of these burst out of the hedgerows of Normandy for a cold-war gone hot scenario :)
  3. Me thinks asla might be on a hype train.... :) I do love these early jets though, I feel as if they have more character than the newer jets. Can't wait to see this thing in action!
  4. I certainly hope we can get them as mission objects, it will be great for single missions, campaigns, etc. Especially when the P-47 comes out. Thanks for all your work on the map and being open to changes for the map Racoon!
  5. This would be awesome to sight-see in the Normandy map once it's released!
  6. The map looks amazing, can't wait to leisurely fly over it for a while before fighting over it :) Now we need some strike aircraft (Mossie and Me-410 please??) :music_whistling:
  7. A zero would be quite fun, especially if the PTO map/units gets worked on in the future! Oh and Dolphin, I'm pretty sure Hiromachi has a wealth of information in regards to most things PTO, so don't hesitate to find out, you may get most of what you need!
  8. It's been a while since I flew the Sabre, but from what I can remember it's was quite sensitive to inputs and once I got a good curve on the joystick it was very manageable (and very maneuverable). Try experimenting with that first and see what you think, if you haven't already. :joystick:
  9. They stated that they are thinking about doing that in the future. No definite plans as far as I am aware, and I imagine it wouldn't be available for quite some time. We shall see!
  10. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including yours and Blacklion. But saying a TARPS pod has no gameplay (an absolute statement) is not true - it is just a different type of gameplay than what you want and is more passive than a prototypical mission. Not saying that I wouldn't prefer a LANTIRN pod too because we certainly can do more with it and would have more lasting value, but there will be missions that can utilize TARPS, but again, obviously not the type of mission that you want to play. I could see a mission or two in a campaign where you have to fight through defenses, weave through canyons, dodge SAMs, etc all to get to your objective to take a picture an interesting spin on things that would be fun to break up the "action-packed" missions. To each their own! TL DR - just because you don't like something doesn't mean others have the same viewpoint. All of us, as consumers, have an equal voice to be heard by the devs.
  11. It's this type of thing that drives 3rd party devs (and ED) to be very vague with their communications, if they decide to communicate at all. It's childish and should stop.
  12. They have not specified which of the asset pack vehicles will be combined arms capable, but from what I have read it will be pretty much everything except the AI planes. So yes you will be able to have tank battles! But I wouldn't be expecting interiors or very detailed damage modeling/armor modeling. I think it will still be fun regardless though! If they ever started producing detailed tank modules with interiors, I wouldn't complain and would buy them in an instant, but they have no plans for that at this time.
  13. Best wishes during this transition and I certainly hope everything goes well with the corsair development! Definitely a day one purchase for me!
  14. I'm pretty sure Cobra posted that response, sipped on his favorite cold drink and got a big smirk on his face thinking "this will mess with their minds"... Curse you! :)
  15. Me too! It's my favorite plane from the PTO side of WWII and can't wait to have a DCS-level corsair to learn. Carrier landings should prove interesting...
  16. Yes, I definitely thought of that too. I'm going into this thinking that the armor modeling will be rather basic (such as line-of-sight angles increasing effective thickness of the armor probably won't be recognized at this time). I think it will still be fun regardless and I'm sure people will make some good missions. Who knows, maybe down the road they would be able to invest a bit more time into that aspect if it becomes very popular. I've always wanted a modern replacement for Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942. One can always dream!
  17. I think an exciting aspect of this that hasn't been talked about too much will be the combined arms part. Sure, loitering in a jeep or doing tank battles has been mentioned but there are other interesting aspects. For MP servers, not only could you have PvP in tanks, but I think it will be fun to man a Bofors AA and try to take out humane players flying at objectives. They could even set up a Combined Arms only server for those who wanted to do ground battles, though who knows how popular that would be since I imagine CA is not as popular as flying, being this is primarily a flight simulator. And depending on how in depth they get with the 88mm (will it only be anti-tank or could you use it as AAA?) - imagine trying to take out bombers with bursting air shells. Might not be the most exciting, but probably a pretty novel thing to see in a modern day simulator! Either way, should be fun for those of us that like the WWII aspect of games and simulators!
  18. Ha, that idea about the F-105 crossed my mind too, knowing how sly LN can be sometimes! That would be awesome but I certainly won't hold my breath anytime soon. Anyways, those pics are awesome! This will certainly be a fun jet to learn how to operate. Can't wait for the texturing work to take form.
  19. Something I think people are forgetting about in regards to the "fracturing" of the community. The assets and map can be purchased independently (a supposed nidus for the fracture), so that people who don't want to buy Normandy, but still want those AI features, can purchase said AI features for use on NTTR or Caucasus for a lower price than buying a map + AI for a higher price if they were combined . Makes sense to those who have no interest in WWII stuff but want to use jeeps, trucks, etc in various post-war scenarios. I know people will still say to this "well why cant the AI units be free and included in the base game, thus completely eliminating all fracturing". While that would be true, just look at what they have done with those models. No other game I know of have AI units that look that detailed and accurate. A ton of work goes into that. I had always been under the assumption that if I wanted to use those AI assets anywhere else in the game, I would have had to buy Normandy. I did not expect them to magically appear into the game without a purchase of the WWII aspect of the game, but apparently a ton of people did....
  20. I imagine the bundle will always be available. If you don't get it in pre-purchase then it will be $60 which is the price of a new module that is not on sale. If you don't want to cough up $60, then I imagine DCS will put it on sale in the future (I would certainly assume as a bundle), though you would need to wait for a while before that sale I'm sure. I get that people dont like to pay for the AI units, and it irked me a bit at first too. But then I realized they poured tons of work hours into the new modules (that most will be playable as Combined Arms it seems). That plus the fact that it is just as expensive to get the bundle as a new module makes me not care about it as much. If you're willing to buy the upcoming F-18 or any new module (which will most likely be the same price), why not get the bundle? Just because you could in theory split the purchases of the map and AI units, and pay more by doing so? Seems a bit petty. Anyways, take what you will from my post. I will not respond to anyone who quotes me in a confrontational way because this is quickly going down a flame war path. I will leave with the fact that I have been waiting for this for a long time and I have no issues buying the bundle and playing it as essentially a brand new WWII simulator game.
  21. Looks beautiful, can't wait to fly over it and finally learn Combined Arms gameplay.... Those pictures of tanks rolling through the fields with early morning fog and the new lighting system look amazing! I am sure people will make some amazing missions for this! And if people don't like the way it is being sold, then by all means, no one is forcing you to purchase it! Those of us who have been waiting for this to appear in DCS will not care hardly at all about this, since the price is hardly different than a new module.
  22. That would be epic! Holy FPS drop though.... either way I certainly hope the new clouds that ED are working on have some resemblance to these but I doubt they would be quite as detailed. Amazing what modern computing technology can do
  23. Razbam states in that thread that the list is in no particular order of release, so no one knows which will be the last. That being said, the harrier certainly seems to be further along than the others so it would be really surprising if it isn't the first out. It seems like a toss up for the remaining three at this stage and any guesses are pure guesses since they are all in their infancy of development.
  24. I will gladly buy the Mig-19. The Mig-15 is one of my favorite modules (the sound, feel and dogfights with it are top-notch). I figure the Mig-19 will be similar with more speed and a few extra goodies!
