PC showing age, Would a RAM upgrade help?
OldE24 replied to Mtnbiker1998's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
by saying it's a laptop it's hard to upgrad the GPU and that 860M and 2GB vram is not going to help you issues, yes going to 16 GB will help but the GPU is going to become the limiting factor. Bitmaster is just telling drag it's a laptop, dont get your panties in to big of a wad. if you can get some cheap ram for it and it can be upgraded check first then do that. if not start saving for a 1060/70 laptop MSI or ASUS. -

Help Picking New Laptop CPU/GPU
OldE24 replied to dresoccer4's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
anything with a 1060 6GB+ would do the job well just 16GB ram and think about adding a SSD if it does not come with one installed allready. -

New monitor - Nvidia or AMD GPU?
OldE24 replied to ViperDriver's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
i dont know what your talking about when you say Nvidia works better Hadwell, i used a R9 390 with free sync 40 to 75HZ and it worked flawless where as people have issues with Gsync, amd's control center is friendlier to use if you ask me also. 1070TI and VEGA 56 are on par with each other in different situations the problem is the price is STUPID because of miners. and the power consumption is off the charts for the vega series. the monitor would work not a fan of the price for the size -

The tick ryzen+ is coming just don't expect that. -
the ONLY reason these days to use SLI is if you have more money then common sense and want to be able to say i have SLI, generally it's more trouble then worth and the list of games that support it any more are few and shrinking. while it may doubble FPS it often introduces a micro stutter at least was my expierence

overkill but it does the trick

i like the way it looks and wanted to purchase but being in the US i would rather have had a paypal option to pay or something other then using my card. maby in the future.
-
Why did you choose a 1060 over a 580? and for you sake i hope you bought the real 1060 and not the joke of a 3gb card.
-
website change? never mind.

What about with the desk mount and the lenght of the stick? do you have to buy the extensions or what. i know have to buy one of the mounts also but what about the length of it? what would i need for a full set up for a desk to have it hang off the desk as shown in the pictures there the base is low with a decent extension?
-
this is the stick base and all?

570 and 580 are just going to be refreshes from everything known, you can get 480's cheap just have to watch for sales.. https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/ people often post them and easy to sort. i'm useing a 390 just waiting for vega cards to release sometime

Overclocking CPU's today is easy it's built in to most mother board to just click the overclocking setting to what speed you want and it's a done deal nothing hard about it at all...
-
get what you like. people comparing it to a 7700k are stupid just becuase it's in the price range...it should be compared to the 6900K that is 1000$....THAT DOESNT have the single thread of a 7700k.....but for some reason the keep going back to 7700.
-
i used to use 6950's in crossfire and it scaled good almost doubble the fps but you pay the price in micro stutter created by crossfire......just avoid it not worth it.
-
avilable for preorder today aparently ship on MAR 2nd...at half the price. see if the review's benchmarks match the clims from AMD if they do it's going to make intel move on something.
