  1. @ironmike Thanks iron mike for your lengthy and considered reply to my post. I understands the points you make and have faith in HB that in the long term - everything promised will be delivered, and more. Would you please confirm the airspeed bug bug has been recognised and that will be rectified? Thanks for your assistance. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. @IronMike Hey there. I posted in the bugs sub forum, but please allow me to provide some feedback here also. Im a staunch advocate for HB and believe the F-14 to be the best simulation of any aircraft on PC in history (I've been around since the beginning of the hobby). We all waited patiently for the "A" with lots of anticipated fixes as well. Lots of fixes didn't eventuate. Some of these have been mentioned (ie Jester). For me - its the damn airspeed bugs. They dont work as intended. I feel the release is very under-cooked for HBs standards: After teasing the ALR-45 RWR, we get a placeholder -135 with ALR-67. There was one short teaser trailer - which teased liveries that we dont have access to. The liveries we DO have have issues (reported whiteness, generic flight suits/helmets) The initial release was far more impressive and complete There is no CV-59, and no news of it. Campaigns and other promised content? Things that excited me before the initial release, like the promise of "Dynamic Cockpits" are merely "wish list" items at this point. Please dont write me of as a "karen"...you asked for feedback here, and im giving you my considered, honest report. IMHO, as a single player only type that is most imperative is a fixed and greatly expanded JESTER. He should be giving speed/energy/hard deck info during ACM (as well as ACCURATE and timely threat indications) He should be doing other things too - like READING the checklists, telling the pilot when wings are moving in the break etc.. All these things should be pretty straight forward, as someone mentioned here earlier - you pretty much need a human RIO now. I had hoped today would be one of celebration and joy with the F-14A, the ONE. In stead I feel flat and underwhelmed. I hope none of this sounds like im angry Thank you for listening Dave TL:DR. Unhappy. Need: 1. expanded, competent JESTER who does everything mentioned above 2. please fix the airspeed indicator bug bug. With a cherry on top. 3. Forrestal tomorrow.
  3. I just tried this. As with OP, x bleed start of L eng was not possible. Using 80%N2 on R and selecting "Airstart-ON" did allow me to motor L eng. I was not able to disconnect Ground Air supply - as there was no response to my request. (Chief couldn't hear me?)
  4. To my all time favourite developer. Thank you for the A model, I love it. I have a respectful question if I may: How come small things (at least to my mind) like incorrectly functioning ASI bugs, have not been addressed? This issue was reported and acknowledged a long time ago and repeatedly falls through the cracks. Its my understanding that the sped bug was set before every take off and approach to the desired reference speed. The bugs are present, adjustable with the knob, but don't function as intended. I continue to sing your praises on social media and amongst friends - heck im an HB aficionado, but this tiny little thing the ASI speed bug, bug, bugs me now. Would you please have it fixed? Cheers and kind regards, Dave
  5. I think Rustbelt was alluding to wanting Jester actually verbalising the Take Off and Landing checklists - which would be an incredible addition.
  6. Thank you Iron Mike for your replies in these forums. I would like to echo the OPs desire for dynamic cockpits - particularly the ability to have cockpit age reflecting the specific aircraft. Please don't put it on ice! I think having an old worn cockpit in a an early "A" model would not be worthy of HBs impeccable standards and would be a sore spot.

  8. I would like to echo those sentiments that aircraft systems, flight model and performance should ALWAYS be completed first. I would go as far to say - that no middle should be released into EA until it is a “production ready” aircraft. Specific weapon systems, can be added over time - as is practise in real life. The aircraft though - NEEDS to be done 1st. Who gives a crap about adding a new gadget if there are flaws in the base aircraft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Hello HB Team, Firstly Id like to echo previous requests to expand Jesters capability to include relevant guidance (Speed/ROD) during approach and also BFM (speed/ALT/Hard Deck) My request is to implement the NATOPS RIO/PILOT challenge and response Take Off Checklist, which contains 17 items read by RIO and responded to by the pilot. I understand this would require additional recordings. The implementation could be via "The Wheel" - ie "Initiate Before Takeoff Checklist", whereby Jester would announce each item, leaving a suitable pause for response (which can be omitted by simmer if he/she chooses). The Checklist need not be initiated if it is unwanted. The Tomcat Takeoff checklist is long and involved, but essential to safe operation of the aircraft. It is one of the few areas in NATOPS where the required crew verbology is actually spelt out. Small things like this would significantly add to single player immersion. Thank you for your consideration VR Dave
  10. Add Ons? Hi BuzyBee Thank you for your detailed reply re F-14 AoA Works perfectly! Thank you very much!
  11. F-14 AOA Hello Vyrtuoz, I previously flagged this issue, but it appears to be still present. Currently using TACVIEW 1.8.3 The F-14 uses AOA measure of "UNITS" which does not equal degrees. There is a mathematical correlation however. A primary reference for measuring performance is of course the AOA indicator in the aircraft. Tacview AOA recordings do not match this instrument. I set up a test, flying the Tomcat in ISA Conditions at 50,000lb in approach configuration: Wings 20, Flaps 35, DLC Engaged - neutral, speed brake extended, gear down. Carefully maintaining 15 UNITS AOA yielded an IAS of approximately 132KIAS Tactvew recording showed AOA as 10.0. This may very well be the accurate number in degrees, however for the F-14 - that is quite meaningless. The F-14 needs to have AOA shown in UNITS. Im not sure if this issue was initially resolved and then later returned, or if it has always been like that. In any case, I am requesting F-14 AOA be shown as UNITS per cockpit instrumentation/flight manual data. Many thanks for such a fine product. Very Respectfully Dave
  12. ^^^THIS suggestion! I just messed my pants. Gimmie a cigarette.
  13. Thank you - i just found a previous reply, I think you commented there. NATOPS not clear. cheers!
  14. As previously reported, but no indication from HB on bug verification/intended resolution. Index pointer behaviour not per NATOPS description. It appears as both pointers function as "mach". One should be IAS referenced.
  15. Illuminates briefly after runway takeoff roll initiated (with park brake handle released). Per NATOPS should only illuminate with failure or activation of park brake handle
  16. When manoeuvre slats/flaps extended, indicator depicts Slats retracted (0 deg). Should be Barber pole per NATOPS.
  17. An A-6E flyable would make my 2020.
  18. id like to see the airspeed Indicator reference bugs fixed, would this be possible?
  19. having a look at the photo of the actual manual - it was reclassified to UNCLASSIFIED.... My sources are that HB themselves acquired this exact document, possibly via a 3rd party who made the purchase.
  20. @Fox One (when you got nothing left?) James Bond.....you've got to be takin' the piss with your environmental concern :megalol:
  21. Let me know if your find it!
  22. The point of the "big box" would not be to supply the software. It provides a tangible collectible. Something to collect and display. I would not advocate retail sales either - Couldn't be justified with the exception of very few locations ie Aviation Megastore EHAM. This would be a premium, online ordered product, probably limited edition with a high profit margin. Box User manual, bound Quick start guide Theatre map? Velcro Patch? Catalog leaflet of other products Doesnt even need to contain software! cost 34-40USD each unit, say $50. Sell ? module cost plus $100 AT LEAST. Limited production run would drive demand. Not my intention to propose a business case, but if you don't think that there would be at least a couple hundred old school gen X gamers like me who would purchase multiple editions of these, if offered - you're nuts. If you're not interested - fine, obviously not the target audience I'm referring to. As I mentioned in the opening post, this is aimed at simmers old enough to remember the glory days and possibly in a financial position to pay for it. Just a reminder...The Fighter Collection/ED did infact release DCS A-10C in 2011 as a hard copy (small box) which is highly collectible. Just try and buy one now. Just an example of the collector value of something like that.
  23. Useless to you, no doubt. Thanks for your (completely useless) input.
  24. Dear ED. This wish will likely fall on deaf ears for those among us aged less than 40. What I wish for is the option to purchase DCS modules in Hard Copy, just like the sim hey days of the 80s and 90s. Ironically the last boxed sim I ever got was DCS A-10C, albeit a small box without any additional content beside CD. A large box, containing a USB stick, Quick Start card, maybe some charts and a printed manual/checklists would be something Id pay dearly for. A memento to put on my shelf. In fact - id go and re purchase all my existing modules if this was available. Nothing like having a physical collection and something tangible to hold and admire. In years to come, physical copies may be our only connection to this time past time at this point in time. One day (2 weeks) When we're on DCS 4.8.2 , using 8k VR units with 220deg FOV at 144FPS, flying F-35s, F-16Vs, F-15EXs, SU-30SM1s, F/A-18F Block IIIs and AH-64Fs, anywhere on earth - it will be nice to look back, and remember the trails and tribulations of 2.5.6, Flying an F/A-18 Chuck on an Oculus Rift S (whats that?) at (hopefully) 40FPS, when we had a handful of theatres to fly in. Bring Back the Big Box, ED. (and yes, I do love retro porn too) Cheers, Dave
