  1. What I would do for a Lot 26 Rhino........
  2. Disclaimer: I’m not a Hornet driver, NATOPS cautions against fully flared touchdowns due WOW switch not activating - preventing engines from going below flight idle- increasing LDG distance, brake temps etc.
  3. G'day JAR - The signals aren't outlined in either the CV NATOPS or the CVN Flight/Hangar Deck NATOPS, but they ARE in the aircraft specific NATOPS (strangely). For the F/A-18C - check Chapter 27 "Deck/Ground Handling signals". PM me for further if you need. Cheers, Dave
  4. I watched a few hours of the stream - was very impressed. having a R/L Helicopter rating - i watched the FM intently and listened to what Sven, the dev said. The flight model looks great (although hard to assess while watching) a lot of improvements over Gaz FM were evident - infact looked NOTHING like the gazelle, even with the OH-58Ds SCAS turned on. The interior modelling was fantastic. Im very pumped for this, had low expectations, but ive changed my mind. This is one bad ass little helo Good Work PC Go Sky
  5. USN Carrier Ops trainer VR
  6. @IronMike - thanks for your replies. I could “live” without dynamic cockpit features, as I’m sure most of us could, but we NEED a newer, fresher, easier to read cockpit option. A near new F-14A would do rather nicely! My dream solution would be 2 cockpits for each subtype. A well used version (current model) and a fresh one. Make this user selectable in menu, no need for dynamic cockpit features with all its complexity. The Tomcat is a work of art. Stunning - it just very hard to read in VR and many of your fans want to fly her as she might have looked in the 70s-80s. Best regards and thanks for such a masterpiece.
  7. When the F-14B launched with this trailer: There were comments made in the video about a process called "Heatblur Forge". This process was going to lead to dynamic cockpits, specific to airframes including wear and tear - even the type of seat cushions on the ejection seat. Is this still a feature we are expecting - The main reason im asking is that im hoping for fresher F-14 cockpits - (also easier to read) Any response from HB would be very appreciated, thanks in advance,
  8. Panther? Oh God yes! Never thought of it - until now, but YES!!!!
  9. What i've learnt from HBs Tomcat is about myself. Ive been swimming since the early 80s, and became a pilot. Flight simulation (apart from when i'm being checked at work!) is my main passion. The thing is, ive never been satisfied. Ive always been the dude looking for the latest bits of information on what's upcoming, what's next. Before the internet - id be trawling newsstands for information. In this age - we have unlimited resources. I was spending way more time reading forums, seeking out rumours and news - than enjoying the hobby itself. Since HBs Tomcat - Ive been living the "NOW' (set in 1986!). This module gives me so much enjoyment - im not worried about what's next. Sure ill be excited for whatever it is, but right now im living the "NOW". And not just in DCS. Never felt happier. Thanks Heatblur. Dave
  10. a little bit of #3 juice just trickled out at the thought of an HB Rhino..... Faaaaark
  11. @Whiskey11. Agree with you. The Tom gives me the most boner! Just a magnificent experience in VR. The Hornet SHITS on the -16 for now in terms of completeness, and will hold its own in any role against a Viper, even when they're both complete. The Lawn Dart doesn't do well at the boat. If that doesn't clinch the deal - I dont know what will. For me: the Hornet is a daily driver, capable...Full up mission ready. I "operate" it. The cat is is the obscenely gorgeous muscle car I take out on weekends, take to the boat and actually "fly". Shit I enjoy it so much.
  12. The Hawaiii map would be interesting. I still wanna get my Top Gun on though. late 80s SOCAL, NAS Miramar, San Clemente Is. , El Centro, El Toro, with NAS FALLON and the Ranges also.
  13. USN F-16N Adversary Viper Hello ! Would any one be prepared to skin a USN F-16N Viper, from the late 80s - early 90s, with the tinted canopy etc? Ive added a couple of images at attachments, hope they work and fingers crossed for a Navy Viper! My preference, (if I had a choice) would be for the NFWS (TOPGUN) version, but id be wrapped and grateful for any version. Thank in advance, kind regards Dave
  14. Supercarrier Comms With this upcoming module, Id like to make a suggestion to the devs if they are reading this... According to SMEs and documentation, crew coordination in the F-14 has the RIO handling external voice comms. Rolling out in the groove, the pilot would normally tell the RIO over ICS "Ball" or "CLARA" with the RIO then transmitting the actual ball call ie "107, Tomcat ball, 4.0" etc. A lot of DCS F-14 users don't fly with human RIOS - and if any are like me (extremely busy FLYING the airplane) at this point - making the ball call is adding unrealistic "burden" My suggestion is for automated radio calls for single crew (no human RIO) F-14 pilots. This would be closest to how it would be procedurally IRL. The internal ICS comms could be assumed - with the positioning of the aircraft in relation to the meatball - ie visible or not thereby resulting in the simulated RIO ball call or "CLARA". Id be interested in hearing some SME and/or DEV feedback on this. Thanks Dave
  15. G'day SirJ - thank you very much for the suggestion - i deleted the folders per your suggestion. Wasn't aware of the performance benefits of doing so until I did some research after your reply. Another thing I adjusted was AF to 16X. This step seemed to do the trick. I can't detect a noticeable performance hit either. Thanks again, Cheers,
  16. Anyone noticed that after last update, Stennis deck looks differrent? The marking are very hard to see now in the groove. Line up difficult in VR.
  17. thanks dburne,
  18. further investigation - Can cold start - but once throttles are in IDLE or greater, they cannot be returned to "CUTOFF", even with finger lifts operating. If I start a mission with engines running - I cannot shutdown. Possible bug in the bug?
  19. Hello, I can't shut down the engines by placing the throttle to "OFF". This has been working flawlessly for my until now - haven't flown for a week. In cold start - I can move then throttle from "OFF" to "IDLE" to start, but not the other way around. I have checked settings - all looks good (I didn't change anything) Any ideas? Thankyou
  20. Dear ED.. With so many systems similarities with the Chuck and Rhino - i would hope that it would be fairly easy to produce a Rhino. Now, what block? It would NOT be possible to replicate the APG-79AESA on the block II, and perhaps some other gadgets. I don't think we need to be confined to an early block 1, because of that though. What Im proposing is a "Hybrid" (which deviates from EDs established practice of simulating a specific block - even Lot. This "Hybrid" could give us all the Block II features we *can have - like Colour LCD DDIs etc and retain features like radar (APG-73) that were with lot 21, Block I. EDIT - Proposal is for a LOT25 Rhino - Pre AESA, with the new displays etc. PERFECT. This way - we can get the most realistic MODERN Rhino available, and it CAN represent a specific fleet bu no. (at a specific point in time). As much as id love an "F" model, the additional programming would be astronomical - I frankly can't imagine 2 crew functioning well with so many shared controls. Id rather take the "E" . ED- with Topgun Maverick around the corner - I can imaging piquing the interest of a wider audience - by announcing/releasing a Rhino around the same time. Without doubt - it would twitch the privates of a LOT of DCS users, being a more modern, more capable version of something that has become a DCS staple. With the upcoming "Super Carrier" module - having additional naval modules would leverage of that development effort. So how about it ED? Is a Rhino on the cards? Cheers and love, Dave
  21. ye, I know....wags cockpit intro video showed the LOX panel. I just noiticed (maybe post HOTFIX?) that the panel has been changed to the (correct) OBOGS panel. All good.
  22. Hi, From what Ive read - the USAF Block 50s have OBOGS O2 generation. The information we have indicates we should have OBOGS - with some cockpit nomenclature supporting that - however, the panel in the sim looks like the older LOX system - with graduated supply indicator vs the newer OBOGs pressure gauge. Is it the wrong panel?, do we have LOX? or is it a sim-hybrid? Cheers, Dave
  23. Gday Heatblur. Are you in a position to reveal which F-14A features we will get... The earlier P412 TF-30s were more powerful, the P414 more reliable... Personally - I hope to see a pretty new (early 80s) jet - with a fresh cockpit too. Looking forward to the A model super bad! Thanks for your MASTERPIECE. Cheers
  24. Thanks Cobra! Any chance we can get a newer cockpit (clearer labels) on the “A” model? Absolutely LOVE your Tomcat - Thank you.
