  1. It's interesting that the French, German and Spanish don't mind so much. Makes me wonder if the Indians would let us have data on the Sea Harrier, and the south Africans data on the Buccaneer.
  2. Lol, that’s awesome. Maybe go hunting TRex on the Falklands with a Huey Which coalition are they assigned to? (Just joking)
  3. How about the Yak52? It’s not fast, but is actually quite fun
  4. +1 agreed, great idea. When I can be bothered, I start a mission via the mission editor and apply the real weather forecast for the day, which works, but does require that bit more effort
  5. Chaps, Check your RAM (not VRAM). Jabbers very good video did spot the VRAM use, but didn’t highlight the system RAM use. Watch the video again and you’ll see that there’s a massive increase in RAM use just prior to the FPS drop. My “guess” is the DCS-MT might be parallel processing the unpacking of texture files (or similar) and is doing this using system RAM. With the additional cores being available, DCS is using more system RAM, to the point that windows ends up using swap files. Jabbers suggestion is using CPU affinity to restrict the number of cores being used would therefore reduce that parallel increase in the use of RAM and is a brill idea. If my guess is correct, does this mean that we should now be looking at our next PCs having 128GB or RAM. Hopefully ED will write some clever code that will check the RAM of the PC that’s available and scale the CPU core numbers used on the fly.
  6. +1 My first flight sim was the original Falcon on an Amiga 500. 30 years on and I now rock in VR, some great quality HOTAS bits whilst having my bum wobble by Andre. Just simply an amazing experience, even before starting to shoot things.
  7. Is either your VRAM or RAM fully utilised? If so, that could be a potential cause. What textures are you using for the scenery? If high, try reducing it.
  8. For DCS PVR, my belief is that the QP has the advantage. My understanding being that the QP has: - lower resolution, making it easier to drive - eye tracking for DFR - local dimming - I’ve seen feedback that the lenses are a bit better Having said the above, if you want to use the headset for walkabout VR, the Q3 has: - Faster onboard processor - it’s the new kid on the block unlike the QP which is more likely to be discontinued faster - has AV1 decoding, which looks useful for wifi connection on PCVR
  9. I would have thought it easier to simplify to represent the 1940 time period for the Battle Of Britain, as against post DD in 1944.
  10. Are you a software developer?
  11. I’m not really sure if our Mig21 is considered Gen 2 or 3. I was reading the definitions of jet generations yesterday, and that talked about Gen3 aircraft being multirole. If that definition is considered appropriate, then IMO the 21 better fits Gen 2, as it was I believe designed in the 50s as an interceptor, with some ground attack capability added later.
  12. Mig21? I believe that’s considered as gen2. It’s very characterful, with its desire to kill its pilot and is a real handful to learn.
  13. Well personally I just plug them in and then open settings/controls.
  14. OK, did some more testing. Took a long flight from the airfield at the top of the map against Ushaia in the cold started Mirage F1. The frame rate was fine on start up and climb to altitude. On diving back to sub 900' (above ground level, NOT sea level) and the frame rate went to pieces. That was after a flight at altitude of approx 200 miles. Tried replicating it, taking off hot started from Mount Pleasant. Tried the F15E, Mirage M2000, Harrier and Mirage F1, all fine regardless of altitude, though I only flew for a short distance in each. I also tried jumping into the F10 view to see if that made any difference, not in these flights. Sorry, ran out of time in the end, will have another go tomorrow.
  15. DCS is definitely NOT limited to 8 controllers as I’m running more than that.
  16. I understand the ask. Have to say that I’d vote more for southern Spain, northern Morocco and Algeria. That could include Operation Torch and with a few older aircraft, elements of the Spanish Civil war. We do already have the i16.
  17. Be aware the IL2 has a limit of 8 controller/devices, as I found it out recently.
  18. I think the map is one of the best out there. The sheer size of it and variety of terrain provides a LOT of opportunities. For example, I have three different naval groups on one of my scenarios, all at vaguely sensible/realistic distances.
  19. By speculating from a position on technical understanding, what do you mean? Game developer, dev for 3rd party, ED employee, Nvidia employee?
  20. Same. Looks different, but definitely NVG
  21. Be careful with where you're going on that thought. Yes, the 7950 does have x2 CCDs, each with 8 cores. However, I get the impression that the two CCDs don't have infinite bandwidth and ability to communicate between each other, meaning that in practical terms, it's more like the Intel style of 8 performance and 8 additional cores, those those additional cores do run quickly.
  22. Right now, both of us are speculating, and creating additional noise for people who just need guidance. I don’t care what your gut instinct tells you. The appropriate solution is to wait for a dev/SME to confirm either way.
  23. Are you a dev? If not, how about waiting for confirmation one way or another? One our views is wrong
  24. This is OB, if you have an issue please: - be more specific about the issues, your system and it’s settings - have you tried the basic recommendations from Flappie - if it’s still an issue, do what is always asked for and attached a log file As is, this is just a thread of “noise”, and there’s no way to help you
