  1. I guess it’s fairly obvious how much I love flying in DCS, so as a map, I’m really looking forward to it. I’m old enough to remember the Soviet engagement there, so will be creating some missions for both the HIP and Hind. As for the EA period, I see it as there being two options: - we wait until next year for it to be “finished” and released in full. Chances are that it would then need some work to resolve any “surprises” not spotted during testing - buy the EA version now (a year ish earlier) and be able to help with user testing of any new technologies being used. Doing it that way meaning faster identification of “areas of opportunity” and a more efficient final release. Putting that another way, hopefully means I get to play sooner, and reduce dev costs for ED.
  2. Pre-ordered. I’ll go re-read some of the books/accounts that I have ref the area to better familiarise myself with some if the key locations.
  3. So the yellow box is EA, does the full picture reflect the "final" version? If not, is it possible to confirm? I'll be buying the map either way, just curious.
  4. It’s worth remembering the goals that the A8 walked into. By 1944 the Luftwaffe had taken a real hammering, was short on both fuel and pilots, couldn’t provide anything like the same level of training as per the western allies. In addition, their pilots basically flew until you died, and were bounced around between the latest emergency. At the start of 44’, that was trying to defend the Reich. The A8 was configured the way it was to engage daylight bombing raids of US bombers and pilots were told to avoid engaging enemy fighters. I rather like the A8, but use the way it was intended, ie to intercept bombers, or provide close support
  5. If you feel that there’s sufficient open source info available, please collate it and provide to ED
  6. Received mine today
  7. I’ve no idea how easy this would be, but think it’s a great idea.
  8. I’m with KKS on this, and use separate NVME drives for DCS and the OS/saved games. Whilst the debate has been a bit heated, my take is that KKS is trying to prevent a misunderstanding that contention with the use of a single drive is irrelevant. My opinion is that the potential for contention is increased with the use of a single drive. That contention may be infrequent and hard to measure, but it’s still likely to exist. The key point being that I believe it to incorrect to claim that it doesn’t exist, which is what I believe was the point that KKS has been trying to say. For ref, over 25 years in IT
  9. I’ve never experienced play whilst using either a TM warthog or hornet grip with my virpil base. maybe I’m not as sensitive as other people? I currently use an Alpha in preference
  10. I’m in Cheam, Surrey and would be interested on a direct swap
  11. It’s interesting stuff, but I feel that the comparison made is simply not appropriate. A comparison with an OA1 for low threat and the F35 for high threat would seem more appropriate
  12. With those, can’t say I’m surprised to see you having issues. Can I please suggest you change the following: - terrain textures to low - pre load radius to around 45% - foliage and trees to around 50% Then retest. i found the above to impact on VRAM use
  13. No issues here, which suggests that a review of your current settings would help
  14. Interesting, but only anecdotal. Please upload a track file to confirm the details
  15. not quite unaware. I’ve previously made a request here for them to call out changes to frequencies, as the last one was only a fraction of the total
  16. Please tell me that they’ve not done it again?
  17. As per the earlier question, will this be the new unified version?
  18. Maybe, don’t know. I’’m hoping that the move to Vulkan will help solve some of the visuals and maybe allow a more consistent higher frame rate. In the Civ Sim that enabled Vulkan, I saw a significant improvement in smoothness and frame rate, hence fingers crossed
  19. Maintaining a solid 72fps seems to solve the visual issues. Unfortunately that’s just not possible with my settings and hardware at low altitude (eg airfields, carrier decks). After that, enabling and disabling ASW has both advantages and disadvantages
  20. DLAA for me. I found DLAA by accident when using that Civ Sim and was amazed by the improvement. At the time, I didn’t even understand how it was meant to work. Day 1 of DLSS landing for DCS and I ran tests in VR comparing DLSS, MSAA, DLAA. Since then, it’s been permanently in DLAA mode. For ref, I use a Quest Pro via link cable with DFR
  21. Drive space is relatively cheap now, so whilst initially my reaction was ???, it does have some positives. If you were to go that route,, you could have the WMR version as dedicated to DCS, which would hopefully reduce the amount of pap that tends to build up in windows over time. Issues that spring to mind include the potential obsolescence of the WMR build, meaning that other components may stop working or being upgraded, eg new functionality in video card drivers Personally I’d wait and see. As already mentioned, it’s likely that MS will cease to support WMR as again remove code
  22. Smart, like it
  23. For FC3 style WW2, you’re better served with that other WW2 combat sim.
