  1. The Kola map is already under development by Orbx.
  2. There’s a plug in script/mod called CSAR that enables that. it has to be run by whoever is hosting the mission, but it works really well. Key things it does are: - any player who’s bailed out, safely lands AND doesn’t respawn generates a mission that is available via the F10 menu - if you fly a suitable chopper, open the F10 menu and you can choose to have a go at picking up a downed pilot - the generated mission gives you the location of the downed pilot and also a homing frequency - when you’re close to the downed pilot, he’ll fire a flare - go pick him up, jobs a good un It’s a brilliant script that I add into most of my missions.
  3. Errrr Let’a just say that I’m very happy that I’ve already created custom KBs for the aircraft I fly…
  4. I broke my left arm 6 weeks ago, which made flying in DCS basically impossible. Today was my first day since getting bolted back together (think $6 man), that I’ve been able to conduct a genuine flight. The F18 seemed like the perfect choice, so it was off for a spin in the Gulf from the Theodore Roosevelt. Awesome to be back in the cockpit again, even more so as I pretty much always fly in VR and have just finished new refinements to the rig. Rather pleasantly, I also seem to have a frame rate probably 30% better, thanks ED!
  5. To add to the above, my view: - F15e - a bit lardy, but good at BVR. Excellent longer range strike - F16, can do pretty much everything well and easily the best of the 3 for dogfighting - Harrier. Not great at dogfighting and no BVR capability. Can operate from FARPs and ships. Fairly short legs, unless you get good at AA refuelling, or take low weapon loads. VERY characterful I have all three and probably use the Harrier the most. It’s not the best from a capability perspective, but is very fun to fly and is unique in its capabilities within DCS
  6. The naming standards for the controls within "settings" for some of the internal lights are completely different to the names as shown when I hover over the dials whilst in the cockpit. It's not a killer thing, just something of a pain whilst re-binding them all as the only way I could actually assign them was by trial and error.

  7. Did you check the USB port that your headset is plugged into to ensure that it’s the fastest one available? Some motherboards seem to have a variety of USB port types, and there are significant differences in bandwidth capabilities. If you’ve accidentally plugged the link cable into a slower port, that will certainly cause issues (no clues as to how I know this).
  8. I guess it’s fairly obvious how much I love flying in DCS, so as a map, I’m really looking forward to it. I’m old enough to remember the Soviet engagement there, so will be creating some missions for both the HIP and Hind. As for the EA period, I see it as there being two options: - we wait until next year for it to be “finished” and released in full. Chances are that it would then need some work to resolve any “surprises” not spotted during testing - buy the EA version now (a year ish earlier) and be able to help with user testing of any new technologies being used. Doing it that way meaning faster identification of “areas of opportunity” and a more efficient final release. Putting that another way, hopefully means I get to play sooner, and reduce dev costs for ED.
  9. Pre-ordered. I’ll go re-read some of the books/accounts that I have ref the area to better familiarise myself with some if the key locations.
  10. So the yellow box is EA, does the full picture reflect the "final" version? If not, is it possible to confirm? I'll be buying the map either way, just curious.
  11. It’s worth remembering the goals that the A8 walked into. By 1944 the Luftwaffe had taken a real hammering, was short on both fuel and pilots, couldn’t provide anything like the same level of training as per the western allies. In addition, their pilots basically flew until you died, and were bounced around between the latest emergency. At the start of 44’, that was trying to defend the Reich. The A8 was configured the way it was to engage daylight bombing raids of US bombers and pilots were told to avoid engaging enemy fighters. I rather like the A8, but use the way it was intended, ie to intercept bombers, or provide close support
  12. If you feel that there’s sufficient open source info available, please collate it and provide to ED
  13. Received mine today
  14. I’ve no idea how easy this would be, but think it’s a great idea.
  15. I’m with KKS on this, and use separate NVME drives for DCS and the OS/saved games. Whilst the debate has been a bit heated, my take is that KKS is trying to prevent a misunderstanding that contention with the use of a single drive is irrelevant. My opinion is that the potential for contention is increased with the use of a single drive. That contention may be infrequent and hard to measure, but it’s still likely to exist. The key point being that I believe it to incorrect to claim that it doesn’t exist, which is what I believe was the point that KKS has been trying to say. For ref, over 25 years in IT
  16. I’ve never experienced play whilst using either a TM warthog or hornet grip with my virpil base. maybe I’m not as sensitive as other people? I currently use an Alpha in preference
  17. I’m in Cheam, Surrey and would be interested on a direct swap
  18. It’s interesting stuff, but I feel that the comparison made is simply not appropriate. A comparison with an OA1 for low threat and the F35 for high threat would seem more appropriate
  19. With those, can’t say I’m surprised to see you having issues. Can I please suggest you change the following: - terrain textures to low - pre load radius to around 45% - foliage and trees to around 50% Then retest. i found the above to impact on VRAM use
  20. No issues here, which suggests that a review of your current settings would help
  21. Interesting, but only anecdotal. Please upload a track file to confirm the details
  22. not quite unaware. I’ve previously made a request here for them to call out changes to frequencies, as the last one was only a fraction of the total
  23. Please tell me that they’ve not done it again?
  24. As per the earlier question, will this be the new unified version?
