Gauging distance to ATC waypoint for landing?
MikeMikeJuliet replied to bunraku's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
... or just don't listen to the ATC. They are all incompetent fools in DCS. Luckily the ATC is being reworked... though no-one has spoken about the progress in ages. Pardon if I come off snarky. But the ATC is a joke. -
While you are very much correct we still need to keep in mind that DCS is for all intents and purposes a consumer product. Even if it is at least partly derivative of TBS.
-
Yep. And even then it will be by the timezone for the last western longitude... just to be sure.

You will get the idea by reading through the Pocket Guide that has bee posted. It mentions when a system or it's subsystem is left out of initial early access. I couldn't tell you a precentage, but you can see what is left out in there. I doubt it lists every single item, but you get a decent idea of what will be missing or will be incomplete at EA launch. A few thigs for mission building and better ground game
MikeMikeJuliet replied to Galwran's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I support the ideas. I think they are well thought out and argumented. Expanded ground warfare options and assets will also affect aircraft in a positive way and give multiplayer scenarios much needed depth and complexity. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet -
The NVGs and the countermeasure management are two more examples why DCS needs to allow players to access the mission editor during the mission - even if only for your own aircraft. That would remove so many multiplayer hurdles... Just sayin', go loud for it in the couple of threads on the subject in the wishlist section ;) Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
-
That would be a module-specific thing to implement.

Grand! Progress.
-
This and similar ideas were discussed and debated at length on a couple of threads when the WW2 asset pack was announced. Afger the heated discussion Wags adressed the issue in one of his Q&A videos. In other words I do not think the current model will be changed much in the forseable future. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet

It can still be released any day of the week. Not only on fridays. I am curious though what the date will be. Usually revealing the release date has not been left this close to the release, questionmark? Regards, MikeMikeJuliet

Grand! That is going to be the wombo-combo for all things ATC. And while I'm at it, another question: Are you planning on adding airfield layouts to LotATC? Moreover the ability to see aircraft on the ground? Currently the lack of said features deny the Tower-role completely. So far I've been using DCS + LotATC + PDF-airfield charts (for airfield info like taxiways to give taxi clearances)... luckily I have two monitors. Otherwise this would really be a pain. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet

Hi DArt. Thanks for the awesome software! I would like to know if LotATC will be integrated to work with SimpleRadioStandalone? I remember there being some such talk on Ciribob's SRS-subforum. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet

One thing to consider is, that many if not most games used to have free demos for this purpose. I wouldn't see any harm in User account -tied X-hour trial time and that wouldn't require much additional management. And once you deplete the trial time you need to purchase. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet

Any ideas of an exact Date of when she goes Live
MikeMikeJuliet replied to Sharkey2009's topic in AV-8B N/A
The same in any other purchase as well. If you don't have the money straight up plan accordingly. -

I quite like your train of thought. -

I do find that sort of counter-intuitive... If it can be distributed to multiple youtube-personalities already, why not give us a release date? If the aircraft is good when it launches, I will buy it. No need for additional hype - althought it is good to see the aircraft in action and not just trust the promo material. -

Hmm. Another weekend news passed, and no mention of a release date... -
There are more recent games with voice recognition done right. An example would be There Came An Echo, 2015, where you could actually customise your voice commands by typing them in freely. Here's a video on it by TotalBiscuit: This goes to show that speech recognition could be implemented effectively, and would give simulators a new dimension in singleplayer if implemented well. I absolutely agree. And to add: afterburners in daylight... are *not* visible from miles away. In fact, depending on the lighting during daylight hours it might be that you barely see it at all unless you are in very close proximity. And on the other hand, afterburners during night time should shine from way over a hundred miles if the weather is clear. This, in addition to the fact that missiles are visible from the same distance as aircraft are the two most glaring flaws in DCS visuals. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet

I'm not *complaining* about patches coming in the wrong day... point is not the day itself. That is superficial. The point is that something was communicated that doesn't hold at all. In this case the implications are nonexistent. But I'm after the principle. Have you checked the publish dates for most of the last 2 months of patches? :D It isn't just "one special case". It is good that things get fixed no matter the day. Now I'm just looking for the magic patch to get the Harrier into the sim... and the Hornet... and 2.5... and... :P EDIT: oh and ON TOPIC... No fix for the F-15 HSI distance indicator yet? I was looking forward for a patch to fix it...

Sharing Pre-flight Planning concept
MikeMikeJuliet replied to Sgt_Cyanide's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Holy moly! This kind of feature should be implemented to every DCS-module to be part of the base game! Or at the very least every module should get a data-cartridge system for people to use your program on... Regards, MikeMikeJuliet -
Of course. For all I care the patches can be published on tuesdays at 0334Z... I also understand that it is not a big deal that the updates come on another day at times. But this all goes back to communication between ED and the customers. What was the point of disclosing the change in patch-day if none of the patches for the last 2-3 months are always on fridays regardless? It just seems strange. And YES I know I'm commenting on a subject that on the surface doesn't matter in any shape or form. Forgive me for I am of the "principles first" kind of person and thus the matter sort of made my brain go "why?". Don't take me *too* seriously, alright. But hey, good weekend everyone! Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
-
A slight tangent here... but didn't ED report a few months back (or is it already half a year?) that wednesday is the new patch day to give themselves time to haul out hotfixes prior to weekend. Now, for the last 2 months every update has again arrived on a friday. What gives? Regards, MikeMikeJuliet

Just as a sidenote, is everyone here talking about the same units? The cockpit can be configured with both kmph and kt. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
