  1. Also, the route planned for your aircraft/flight should be visible, even in the case that your aircraft is not. And altitudes and speeds should be visible in both imperial and metric simultainously.
  2. You can only change seats in SP. In multiplayer both seats are a different instance of the same aircraft and you'd need to respawn to the other cockpit... which obviously resets the aircrafg systems. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  3. I must disagree. What the kneeboard should be, is an in-cockpit 3D object as part of the clickable cockpit so to speak. Then it would not be in the way and it would work in the current interface. Plus it would be more immersive. If we *have to have* the kneeboard as it currently is - then yes, I agree. And an ability to rezise.
  4. Yes. And anyone who has ever been close to a flying military jet knows that the sound it makes is more of a rumbling feeling through your whole body instead of just a loud sound... As we can't have that simulated, we should at least try to fake it with beefier audio.
  5. Has anyone else encoutered this on the forums? Guys? Uninstalling target, plugging out the controllers and uninstalling the drivers should get you a fresh start. I'm not that knowledgeable on the driver side of things unfortunately. Have you tried contacting Thrustmaster support yet? They might already know of such cases or at least they are very capable of troubleshooting the issue.
  6. Hmm. That is strange indeed. What the GUI and the script editor does is it disables the separate throttle and joystick devices and creates one combined device, which should go by the name of "Thrustmaster combined". Might this be a USB issue? Have you tried on other USB ports?
  7. Although I enjoy the trainers I have to say that using them to get someone into DCS might not work as well as it sounds like. If she wants to get a simulation of any airforce's training program, then sure. Start in X-Plane with a cessna, transition to the Albatros in DCS after some 100 hours of quality teaching, briefings and debriefings... spend some 200h on the Albatros with the same mantra... and then goon to the A-10C... Or just have fun and start with the A-10C... or A-model if need be. The long way is for those who want it specifically... since this is a sim and a game there is no inherent need to fly trainers first. And gentlemen: can we cut the bashing of VEAO and AvioDev on this thread... we all know their aircraft are in a sad state. No point in bashing them on every bloody subforum. So in short: if she wants specifically a trainer, then gowith the L-39. Don't worry if the gauges are different. The principles in how to use them is all the same, just laid out differently. If not, go with the A-10C. Your task is to make the first steps easy. If needed, do some notes about every step that you are going to teach, so you can avoid getting too complicated early on. There is always the Pause-button. Regards: MikeMikeJuliet
  8. Correct. A question: you are using the script editor, not the GUI? Could you post the script file so I can take a look? I have an idea what might be causing this, but I need to check for myself.... Did you download the scripts you use from somewhere, or did you make them yourself? Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  9. It wouldn't hurt to have such a feature AND accompany it with proper training missions for each aircraft on the basics of each aircrafts performance. Most tutorial missions are too superficial on the combat side... many times not bothering to give you basic info such as max sustained turn speeds or max performance turn speeds... even as an example for a fixed altitude. It just throws you in there and assumes you know what you should be looking for in the manuals
  10. Sounds like a firmware issue. Thrusmaster has instructions for updating them so you don't accidentally break anything.
  11. Good points. There have already been a couple of threads on the very subject. I couldn't find the other one (probably discussed in a thread initially about something else) but here's mine that sprung up some conversation. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=169459 Could mods merge these perhaps? Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  12. I second this. No point in flying runway strikes if it barely does anything.
  13. Yep. Especially annoying with three-way switches... you intend to turn a system ON from, say, TEST but instead you accidentally turn it OFF.
  14. Yes! All of it! And span the encyclopedia to fullscreen as well!
  15. Wee it has been like this for years. If one really wants to keep one's information to oneself, then better stop using all social media and PC:s altogether. And start using physical money only... In short, these things are unavoidable. When it comes to free platforms, we, the users, are not the customers. We are data sources and companies that place ads using target demographic info are the customers. There are tutorials on how to disable telemetry on win10, but that requires more than just running ShutUp10 or other 3rd party softwares. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  16. Holy... sounds like a very unhealthy aviation safety culture on part of the high brass...
  17. I just wish we get the Normandy map out so we can finally have a proper new Caucasus on our hands. Not the time for making idle wishes of maps that won't be under developement in years. Even the Hormuz still feels like its far far away from now, let alone anything that comes after it...
  18. Popularmechanics doesn't seem to be dipping into popular mechanics :D
  19. It's great to see this is again in the works. I hope the work continues to be a swift and of high quality as it has this far.
  20. I wish we had two HUD projections depending on wether you fly in VR/stereo3D or not. That way the position of the pilots head could be constant and still work for most users.
  21. I foresee a problem with ED inhouse-built voice comms. Imagine a bug in that. Yes. Now imagine how long it takes for ED to fix said bug, because they have their hands full of present and future modules and the evolution of the bade game. So yes, either use the current tools, or hope we get a 3rd party module working. VOIP is crucial and must be kept in working order constantly. Something that I unfortunately don't see happening if integrated into the sim by ED. Then it would just be all about fixing the comms. Every patch. No disrespect intended. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  22. Does this classify as one of those... um... "oh shit" -moments? :D
  23. I keep this project on the back of my mind to check your progress every once in a while. Glad to hear work is ongoing even if there is not always anything substantial to show. Keeps us calmly waiting when we know work is being done and the project is not dead at all. I'm looking forward to the day we get our first real bomber into DCS. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  24. Like the previous gents said, either tie your locations to landmarks or to waypoints/bullseyes. All in all it is a skill to be learned. Sometimes it takes a lot of time to fing your wingman. Practice makes perfect. To use any waypoint for giving position, call the waypoints name, your bearing from it, your distance from it and your altitude. Example "Waypoint 2, 145, 20NM, Angels (=altitude in thousands of feet) 15". Now your buddy knows where you are. You can also say which direction you are flying, or if you are orbiting around said point. Good idea is to go fly, get separated intentionally and try to find eachother. Rince and repeat. 25. Other games do this, and it fractures the playerbase in those games as well. Just because "other games do it" does not mean it is the way things should be. Companies can and will make erroneus or poor decisions for the customers point of view either on purpose, or by accident. Not suggesting ED has an evil mastermind behind this, just that not every decision is always the best one. And talking about the free content, all this WAS paid content before DCS. It is updated for higher quality, yes, for which ED should absolutely get praised for and supported, but the baseline still is, all the content we now have for free has previously brought money in. The were not free from the getgo, in other words ED has recieved income from them in the past. The decision to go for the free entry-model has surely contributed towards getting more players into the sim, and thus bring more money via additional purchases. THIS has been an exceptionally good way tho do things without excluding anyone from any MP scenario. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
