  1. Yepp, I'll talk about this in an upcoming video. During my research I found plenty of info on Topgun lessons, but almost none on the USAF Weapons School. With no resources I can't make a campaign. That's one thing. The other thing is that Navy tactics taught at Topgun were decades ahead of USAF tactics of that era. I even had an USAF SME tell me I'd better make a Topgun campaign because the USAF WS would be much more boring.
  2. I hope so - but likely not from me. I don't know much about REd Flags.
  3. The DCS I is hard coded to land like modern day transport aircraft, not WW2 fighters, so as soon as you see the field, detach and land on your own. Just watch out for traffic.
  4. It's not. The exercises are so short, there would be no point loading a new mission every minute. And no, you won't need to restart. Say you already completed 5 missions. After the update, mission 6 will already be the new version.
  5. No, they will be in the next patch
  6. I'm so excited to announce the MIG Killers DCS Campaign for the new F-4 Phantom
  7. Good catch, thanks for the report! I submitted a fix, I hope it's not too late for the next update. BTW that's not 3 and 4, those P-51s are never supposed to start. Until then you can fix it by selecting that group of 2 and checking the 'uncontrolled' box on the right:
  8. That's 100% core DCS AI, I have 0 control over that. The AI tends to play kamikaze sometimes
  9. Yes, you switch to channel D and contact ASR using the F10 option - if you have enough altitude to reach them. This should help with opening the radio menu
  10. Hey, thanks for the feedback, although you can open a new thread so people find these answers more easily: 1) The DCS AI cannot fly at wavetop level reliably, especially not in such large formations. Also note that Gimlet is 1000 feet lower than Turban: "Turban will fly to the right of Gimlet, 1000 feet above, and slightly to the rear" 2) "We will stay at zero feet until 1340h, then climb at full throttle to rendez-vous with the bombers over Amiens at 25,000 feet" - meaning by reaching Amiens you need to be at 25k. RAF fighters remained low to stay under the radar as long as possible, but wanted to cross the enemy coastline at a safe altitude where they're not easy prey for the German flak. So around mid-channel, they must start climbing. 3) I can either tell the AI to fight or not to fight. Where each AI is relative to each other when that happens is beyond my control and totally random, so it's quite possible that for a short while you will see enemies flying close to each other without noticing. The other alternative would be to make them fight until one side is destroyed completely, but that would be highly unrealistic. Enjoy the rest of the missions, and let me know if you find anything that's off.
  11. Also if you can send a track to @[ED]Ben that may help.
  12. Uninstall all unofficial mods and run a slow repair first. If it persists then it’s this 1.5 year old core DCS bug which may or may not happen to you randomly:
  13. Thanks, I’m glad someone actually reads the briefings
  14. Yeah sure you can easily find them in the kneeboard folder. Just don't redistribute them please.
  15. What's the version number in the briefing of mission 1? should be v.20240501 OH damn, I just checked, they didn't push the updated files...I'll get in touch with ED
  16. Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Looks like you've been busy with your USAAF career this last month Mission 10 is also one of my favorites, it's a target rich environment Since you're on a USAAF streak I can recommend Blue Nose Bastards, where you'll be leading a flight, and later the entire squadron, offering more flexibility in terms of decision making. Thanks again!
  17. even while flying a mission? Or just in the menu?
  18. I have an ASUS F15 FX507ZR with 32GB RAM and a 3070. Win 11. Usually I get OK performance, my problem is that after a while, especially if I open the F10 map, I gat crazy stutter and latency spikes which either go away after alt tabbing or they don't. Especially over the Marianas.
  19. Lights on at night = Salute in the day Again, use the control assignment 'salute' instead of the radio menu, some triggers are tied to that.
  20. Thanks, I'm using the Oculus Tray tool with similar settings - except: Encode bitrate - it gives me weird jitters if set above 200. Also, Encode resolution - is that the lower value of the Meta app setting? I set mine to 3664 because someone recommended it. Also, I have smoother gameplay with ASW on.
  21. Turn on your exterior lights instead of saluting. Or - as the briefing says - use the 'salute' control assignment which does it for ya.
  22. Nope this didn't help. I'm still struggling with this very much. I really hope ED can figure out a solution finally.
  23. SACRILEGE!!! Just kidding... or am I? Thank you so much for stopping by and writing down your impressions. I'm happy you had fun going through it. You know how I like to seek the utmost realism in my campaign, but in this one I just wanted to do everything I can't do in those, so I squeezed in all the corny 80s mojo I could I just realized that even now the campaign has some cockpit switch based triggers, you probably missed those, but nothing game breaking. Did you get landing checklists when abeam? About the Bingo and BRC - in Naval ops they use a fuel ladder rather than a set Bingo (see video below), but for that we'd need cyclic ops and that can't really be simulated in DCS yet. BRC in DCS is constant, but in real life wind changes, the ship turns, you can only be sure of the BRC when you contact Marshal 50 miles out, and even after that if may change - anyhow it's part of the built in DCS ATC comms too. Again, thanks a lot for the kind words - and also for the great voice overs!
