:) nice one Redbow, thanks for sharing

so in game mode you get a "see everything" radar, simplified (very) flight dynamics , more ammoe / flares etc... It's worth checking out the Producers note on Game mode (the last one) which will show the features of game mode. I've never actually tried it personally

So , Generally IRL, INU fixes are done on known landmarks, and are pre-planned and well briefed to the pilot. One famous example of INU updates on-the-fly was a long range night time apache attack that was guided in by Blackhawks or Pavelows (can't quite remember details), as they have a GPS ...when the attack group reached the IP, the Pavelows gave the apache pilots the lat/long from the GPS, and dropped a flare on the ground for the apache targetting system to use as a fix point. This enabled the apaches to have accurate nav data to plan the attack as a group which otherwise would have been off by 10's of metrs in a random directon for each AH64a. I forget whre I read this story, may have been in Ed Macy's book... To answer your question though, the INU Fix point should be loaded into the ABRIS pre-flight, as well as beeing briefed (ie. check the map before flying to see what landmark the fix point is on!)..that way you can still fix even if the GPS is on the fritz. Because there seems to be a co-ordinate problem between where you put the fix point in the ME, and where it appears on the ABRIS, I guess that's why they pulled the feature (for now)...again AFAIK.

It was possibly enabled in the Beta, but I'm pretty sure INU drift is not currently in the game. Infact, I'm pretty sure I've seen a post by evilbol or wags on this one. You can still do INU corrections proceduraly, but the INU is 100% accurate al the time AFAIK so they are not necessary. tried doing a search but couldn't find the post ... I remeber it was on the wish list for the patch....
-
yeah, I think it is a not yet implimented feature. TBH, I'm hopeful they will put it in, as, well...geeky realism makes me fidgit less.. ...and besides, INU is the primary nav tool of the AH64a (I believe?), so should make life pretty intereting with INU drift and no GPS backup once that bad-boy lands.

In the real word, does the KU-31 Shkval center key exist!!
nemises replied to yuhan11020's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
ah right...gotya...nfi, could be a function on the cyclic (along with the slew controls) -
In the real word, does the KU-31 Shkval center key exist!!
nemises replied to yuhan11020's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
yes , KU31 - Shkval Center (RCtrl - i) -
my advice is to get low early. The hardest thing to do safely in the KA50 (IMHO) is lose alititude at low speeds.. Get down to within 100 Mtrs of the ground whilst still flying at approach speed (100 KPH+), as at those speeds, it is "safe" to drop altitude at high rates (10+ m/s). Start this SEVERAL kilometers out from our landing point Once at low altitudeit is an easy excersize of lowering the collective and raising the nose to lose speed and decend SLOWLY as you approach. If you try to drop out of the sky to land you wil VRS and die, so take it easy on the decent and do it early..

if you have been flying and targetting for long periods of time (ie. if you have returned to base to re-arm), it is possible for you to have burnt the targetting/range laser out....use the laser less...try turning the laser to "off" between engagements, so that if you are using the shkval to search for targets, you are not also constantly firing the laser...when you have a target, turn the laser back to standby and get a range.

Dumb Question: How to take screenshots?
nemises replied to Doc. Caliban's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
hrm...should do.. are you running XP, Vista or Win7? If Vista or Win7, you may have permisions issues (especially if you have installed into the program files path) -
I would guess that the main files are NOT patched, and that you would need to d/l the patch (1.01b) as well

DNS failure?...man, when did the Shark get wifi/3g ?....does the abris have a browser?

what to do when your targeting laser burns out?
nemises replied to Bee_Sting's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
tis the same laser -
use flags. For each vehicle/group to reach the "goal" zone, set a specific individual flag. Set up a constant trigger to look for "Flag is true" for each vehicle combination..ie "if flag 5 is true and flag 6 is true and if flag 7 is true" then "mission = success". It will require quite a few trigger's to be set, but basic logic can be set up in this way. To cut down on combinations, I would use 4 or 5 groups of vehicles, and assign a Flag to the success of each group. If you assume 4 groups, then that is 16 possible combinations in total, of which 5 = a 75% success rate (1111, 0111, 1011, 1101,1110) and since "1111" is covered in the other 4, thats ony 4 constant triggers to test for ie: if (flag1 AND flag2 AND flag3) = mission success if (flag2 AND flag3 AND flag4) = mission success if (flag1 AND flag3 and flag4) = ..... and so on not perfect , as of course "Group in Zone" will be true whether it is 1 vehicle from the group, or all vehicles in the group, but still...extrapolate using bit logic (which is all flag values are used for), and go from there. and good luck! (it would be nice to have some more basic logic setup in the ME to test for! )

hmm...well, technically you do have to "reset" to send a datalnik target, but , as in a previous thread, YMMV. Luckily, you can! After you have stored the target, reset , sent the target via Datalink do the following from a fresh reset: -Press the target type button untill the one you want is flashing -Press the "Ingress" button (it should highlight) -Uncage the Shkval The Shkval will now automagically slew to the stored target location. Death from above ensues

Controller Setup Preference Questions
nemises replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yes, you can reverse the Axis: - go to "options" - "controls" tab up top - in the right most selectio drop box, select "Axis Commands" - select the "flight control collective" control row - click on "Axis Tune" (bottom right) - tick the box called "invert" - ok I use the upper left hat as follows: up / down - SHKVAl FOV left / right SHKVAL Gate size I use botton "E" on the collective to uncage and lock target I use my primary HAT to slew shkval (as I use trackir) , but you could possibly use the front hat on the collective for the task instead (I currently use that to pan around the search light..lol). Best of luck! -
hehe, great stuff man - awesome

If i have 2 monitor of different resolution...

hahah, yeah, graphical options to suit the complexity of the rest of the sim -
A Stick and Rudder Man's Guide to DCS: Black Shark
nemises replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Good on him for taking the time to write what is essentially a very comprehensive review and critique! ...but yeah, totally disagree with 90% of the content ... different strokes for different folks though! -
I think the following reasons... 1) ED Picked the KA50, not the KA52 :P 2) Unlimited info was available for the KA50 which allowed the incredibly accurate modelling in the sim 3) the KA52 is (probably) still highly classified 4) the KA52 is a twin seat heli, which brings in a whole load of new problems for ED...problems that will be solved in the AH64a module 5) the black shark is totally cool (its a bit like a trabant, but with a vtec engine ;) ) 6) see 5

Oh, sorry, didn't read correctly.. Yes, you will need to Manually change waypoint on the PVI if you are not in Route AP mode.
-
yes, when in route mode, the PVI will automatically switch to the next WP..when at the end of the waypoint path, it will hold current heading
-
yep, but where on the throttle's axis is "auto" ... using digital controls (pg up/pg/dwn), no problem, but using analogue ..?

Hiya Mr Burnette.... I wouldnt worry about loading / configuring flight plans on the ABRIS for now..that is top percentile nerd stuff that 99% of us also don't know! The ABRIS is incredibly capable as a GPS and database info dump, but 99.9999% of the time, your flight plan will allready be configured by the mission creator, which means, all you really need to know is how to zoom in and out and how to change waypoint (susp)...maybe how to change the brightness/contrast for night missions using NVG :)
